Smoky Bear's Favorite Spot in Camp Nelson with Amazing Views--Kid Friendly
I'm a former Superhost who stepped away from VRBO after a serious injury. Unfortunately, my previous reviews--always 5.0--did not save. My reviews are available on another popular site.
The Wilen Cabin is Smoky Bearâs favorite look out spot! This 1900 sq ft cabin on a half acre comfortably accommodates up to 8. The view from the living room is fantastic, the wood burning stove is filled and ready for you to light, and the bedding is always fresh! We really take pride in the bedding!
You wonât have to bring your own wood and you wonât have to pack up your trash when you leave, like most hosts require. Plus our driveway is one of the few on the mountain thatâs completely flat.
Technology allows us to heat or cool the home before you arrive and weâll have the living room and kitchen lights on if you arrive after sundown, with the deck lights illuminated out back too. Youâll feel so welcomed!
Step inside and select a treat and enjoy taking the tour of this fabulous home.
What Youâll Find on the Main Floor:
Step into a fully stocked kitchen, designed to make your packing lighter. I remember when I used to rent on the mountainâI had to bring everything so Iâm sharing all my kitchen supplies. Youâll find kitchen towels, cleaning cloths, cleaning supplies, dish soap, and more, including plastic wrap, aluminum foil, storage baggies, and trash bags. Theres plenty of dishes and silverware and we keep a selection of Teflon and stainless steel cooking pans. Thereâs a large freezer for your use and a coffee station with coffee pods, coffee creamers, hot chocolate, and tea bags. Youâll find a variety of seasonings, sugar, oil, and more.
The open-concept living room offers breathtaking mountain viewsâyou can literally watch the clouds drift between the peaks from the comfort of the couch. Weâve added wood to the wood burning stove for you. Just light it up! Weâve fully stocked the wood bin for your use to save you the inconvenience and cost of buying wood.
From the living room windows, with FULL Mountain views, watch the deer outside whoâve made our yard part of their stomping ground. Theyâll await you to toss them some apple slices.
We always leave craft supplies and activities for childrenâlearning activities like Smoky Bear activity books. I also have a collection of childrenâs books in the living room and upstairs. Iâll customize these âextrasâ if you let me know the ages of your children when you book. We definitely welcome children at our cabin!
Also on the main floor, two spacious, well-stocked bathrooms, one has a heated toilet seat for those cold winter mornings. All three bathrooms contain soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. We have two water heaters so two people can shower at the same time. No need to bring your own towels or wash cloths.
From the kitchen, step outside the back patio deck with gas BBQ and deck. BBQ utensils are supplied along with propane for the fire pit. The deck lights and hanging cafe lights are gorgeous! Use our campfire roasting sticks for your marshmallows.
The large king suite is located at the end of the hallway next door to the main bathroom. Youâll find an electric blanket and extra kitchen supplies in the closets. There are two benches for you to set backpacks or suitcases on. Weâve also just added a faux wood burning fireplace for additional heat and ambience.
New plush carpeting throughout much of the downstairs adds warmth in the winter, making lounging even more enjoyable, especially for toddlers and babies. We chose carpeting as an environmentally friendly choice.
Upstairs:
Relax in the large media room/bedroom with a Smart TV where you can access your viewing subscriptions. Enjoy the comfortable furnishings and a workspaceâperfect for a laptop or a kidâs coloring station. The space also features a queen sleeper sofa, three twin beds, and a super comfortable couch. Two camping cots are also available.
The third bathroom is my favorite! Itâs cottage-themed, large, and fully stocked.
Every sleeping arrangement in the home is designed for ultimate comfort, ensuring restful nights for everyone. All bedding on the 4 beds and sofa sleeperâfrom sheets, blankets, and comforters/quiltsâare freshly laundered.
Recommend Entertainment:
âPlay gamesâLife, Checkers, Yahtzee, Tic Tac Toe, Bop It, Boggle, Dominoes, Twister, cards
âBuild with Lincoln Logs
âSet up Corn hole in the back yard
âTake the Volleyball to the volleyball court in the meadow
âPlay Darts upstairs
âStargaze with the Telescope
Your safety is our top concern. Additional Amenities Include:
A First-aid kit
Emergency lanterns as the base of the staircase
Fire extinguishers
Before your stay, youâll receive a welcome message with more specific information. We have provided a printer so you have all the directions for the Sequoia National Forest at your fingertips.
Additional Notes:
Our cabin is one of the few properties in Camp Nelson with a flat driveway and lot, making it easy to navigate year-round.
In the winter, the main road is promptly plowed from 8 am until sundown. Winter arrival should be before 5 pm if it is snowing.
This vintage home is a perfect getaway, with plenty of space to stretch out and relax, no matter the season. And did we mention? Two separate water heaters, and a heated toilet seat for those chilly days!
If you donât see an amenity you need, please make a request and weâll try to accommodate you.
Matt and I have a heart for hospitality and all the extras we include are designed to save you money and time. Weâve used the concept of an âall inclusive resortâ in our hosting choices so you just need to pack your food, clothing, and favorite things.
This cabin has enriched our lives and we want it to enrich yours. We look forward to hosting you! We promise we'll do our best to meet or exceed your expectations.
Best,
Matt and Rhonda

Ă propos de lâhĂŽte
HÎte : Rhonda
Matt and I ADORE the Springville and Camp Nelson area. We enjoy kayaking and caring for our beloved Camp Nelson cabin. We especially enjoy sharing the space with our guests and helping you create fantastic memories on the mountain. We prepare the cabin for you ourselves, which means that you will have everything you need for your stay. We live close by and are amazing hosts. We are previous VRBO superhosts--with an average 4.96/5 rating--who took time away from the rental market to recover from a broken leg.
Voici pourquoi lâhĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement
We purchased this particular cabin because of the views. You can sit on the couch with coffee and look at the mountains with unobstructed views. We are also very fond of the deer who spend time on the property. The cabin itself, owned by a veterinarian before us, envelopes you with a sense of warmth and peace. It's truly a special place. This vintage cabin is a treasure.
Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique
This is the perfect property because of its location and views. It's located in the heart of Camp Nelson but it feels very private. It's a wonderful property with deer who stroll through the yard and plenty of room to play and walk around.
What truly sets our property apart is our attention to detail. We strive to offer many conveniences and ammenities and care about your safety and comfort.
As previous superhosts, our guests appreciated our excellent communication, the cleanliness of the property and quality of the bedding, and about the little personal touches we included to make guests feel welcome. You'll find free wood for the fireplace, free propane for the fire pit, plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, dish soap, and a fully stocked kitchen.
