Welcome to The Sunshine House—your family’s perfect beach getaway in Port Aransas, Texas. This true beach house sits right in the dunes, so you can walk straight outside and onto the sand. Wake up to stunning sunrises over the ocean and unwind with beautiful sunsets each evening.

Inside, you’ll find a bright, open floor plan that brings everyone together. The dining area seats four at a stylish glass table, perfectly situated next to the kitchen and living area. The living room features a large sectional sofa, two comfortable chairs, and a big Smart TV—ideal for movie nights or relaxing after a day in the sun. The kitchen is a highlight, offering spacious counters, all stainless steel appliances, and plenty of cupboards for storage. Whether you’re preparing a family breakfast or a seafood dinner, you’ll have everything you need right at your fingertips.

The home features three bedrooms and three bathrooms, giving everyone plenty of space and privacy. Upstairs, there are two king bedrooms and two bathrooms. Downstairs, a separate suite offers one queen bed, two singles, and its own updated bathroom with an open vanity—perfect for families or groups. All bedrooms feature Smart TVs with cable, Netflix, and Pandora. Free WiFi is available throughout the home, so you’ll always stay connected.

Step outside to enjoy a covered picnic area, perfect for outdoor meals in the fresh sea air. The deck, set right next to the sands, is furnished with classic Adirondack chairs—ideal for lounging, reading, or soaking up the ocean views. There’s no need to pack up for a beach day—just open the door and you’re there. The sand caliche driveway has plenty of space for several vehicles and a trailer, and there’s an additional two-car garage for even more parking. To reach The Sunshine House, you’ll drive on the beach between markers 9 and 10. Four-wheel drive is recommended during dry summer months. Look for the big yellow letters that say “The Sunshine House.” If you see sand buildup in the driveway, keep a steady 15 mph and you’ll be just fine—stopping could get you stuck.

The view was good, except for the restaurant next door. It had very bright lights pointing directly in the direction of the deck. The proximity to the beach was amazing, and was very convenient. We had a hail storm come by soon after our arrival and the garage was a blessing for our piece of mind. The host, or management company, Portoro, was very quick to respond to our concerns. That's the end of the positives... The home is old, and on the beach. That being said, it would be expected to have some weathering and rust here or there. What we did not expect were roaches, wavy floors, rotten baseboards, mold, disgusting smelling fridges or the musty smell in the house. On arrival we contacted the host and asked if we could open the windows and door, as it clearly stated we couldn't in the guest book. They agreed to allow it, but only one window was operational, one almost fell off it was so rusted, and the rest were screwed shut. We booked two nights, checked in around 4pm, and were packing the next morning at 6am. Our 6 month old was having trouble breathing, and was very congested and fussy from the air quality in the home. If we took her outside, she was better in a few minutes. Remember I said shortly after we arrived there was a massive storm... We couldn't have the windows open or go outside. It smelled so awful, we would have left if it wasn't for the storm. We spent our entire time there talking with the host in chat about the issues.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet expectations — that’s never the impression we want any of our guests to leave with. I completely understand how uncomfortable and concerning it must have been, especially with your little one not feeling well. Our team did try to find a resolution during your stay and offered to have the home re-cleaned right away, though we understand you chose to check out early. After your departure, our team inspected the property and didn’t find any ongoing issues but, as a precaution, we’ve scheduled a deep clean for this month to ensure everything is in top shape for future guests. We genuinely appreciate your feedback — it helps us improve, and we’re sorry again that your stay wasn’t as it should have been.
