"The Happy Place unit 1 may be just the home away from home you are looking for! The home consists of 2277 sq ft of balconies, salty breezes, and adventures galore! The home's prime location, included amenities and beach proximity will make spending your time beach-combing and sun-seeking an Ocean BREEZE!

Your property

Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher) has become a RAPIDLY increasing vacation (and full-time!) destination for the East coast and beyond for many reasons. It’s a family-oriented beach with a touch of everything one might be looking for! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!

The home lies directly in the middle of both CB and KB and is a long walk or short drive to downtown and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, restaurants, and local shops of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or party boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to KB and fish directly off their fishing pier complete with bait, tackles, and more! The CB Lake is nearby, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday and FIREWORKS every Thursday!

The entry to this 4 bedroom/4 bath townhome *sandcastle* opens into large entryway with ample storage space for all your personal beach nick-knacks, bikes, trikes and belongings! Moving inside, you encounter a private laundry room perfect for keeping those Hawaiian shirts, khaki shorts, and swim wear primed and ready to go! As you move deeper into your Coastal get-a-way, you'll soon encounter Bedroom #1, the “kids’ room” with a Twin + Queen bunk bed, a Twin futon chair, and a private slider out to the rear garden, and Full bathroom #1 (complete with a large walk-in shower) directly next door to round out this ideal ground floor space for ANY age!

As you head back into hallway and ascend up to the expansive second floor open entertainment area, kitchen, dining room, family room, and more! Bedroom #2 (with a Queen bed) and Full bathroom #2 sits just off your modern chef’s kitchen complete with granite, granite, and more granite! Modern stainless appliances and a kitchen chocked full of amenities give you access to dine both IN and OUT like royalty. The large family room equipped with an eclectic mix of high-end furnishings, cozy amenities and technology ensures a proper opportunity to recharge from a day of adventuring! Also on this floor nestled just beyond the large screen rests another private deck space providing both interior AND exterior dining options to suit the weather, mood, or ambience.

As you make your way upstairs, the Master bedroom (Bedroom #3) complete with a King size bed, Twin guest bed, ensuite bathroom (#3) with a double vanity and walk-in shower stall accompanies your private oversized East facing balcony (*complete with Sea Salt breezes at no added cost! * Heading West back into the hallway, bedroom #4 with two Twin beds size bed along with Bathroom #4 (complete with a shower/tub combo) comes into view.

As if partial Atlantic views, crisp morning breezes, and pelicans floating in tandem overhead less than a few blocks away from Wilmington Beach wasn’t enough, a spiral staircase from the Master takes you up a final flight to a truly remarkable indoor/outdoor space complete with an array of outdoor seating and access to a tranquility and respite that will simply melt your cares into the sun-kissed seascape before you. It’s not IF you deserve this, it’s how quick can you visit!

1 set of the following will be made on a per bed/per person basis to help you be comfortable on your adventure! Bed sheets (fitted/flat set), bath towels, wash cloths, cleaning rags, pillowcases, bathmats and kitchen towels. Laundering or extra sets are not an available service regrettably. Please make sure all used linens are placed in one location in the home at departure. Please let all BED LINENS remain on the beds for our TEAM to take care of! A sincere thanks for your help and we hope that YOU have an AMAZING ADVENTURE!

1 courtesy soap, shampoo and conditioner are left in the bathroom of each home as well as 2 rolls of TP per bath, 1 makeup wipe and one backup toothbrush. 1 roll of paper towel, a sponge, dish soap, 2 trash bags per receptacle and (*as applicable) 3 dishwasher and laundry pods will be available to use if needed!

Guest access

The HOME: Guests have full access to their own private HOME (never shared) along with a respective deck, patio, or balcony.

PARKING: Each reservation will have access to (3) THREE assigned carport parking spaces (depending upon vehicle size).

•Closest BEACH access: North Carolina Public Beach Access (North Carolina Ave).

Interaction with guests

I will be available for check-in and general assistance until 8PM EST. Anything with the exception of an emergency (ie. flood, fire, or another *safety* related risk sent to Maintenance) will be responded to ASAP the following day :)

Neighborhood description

The home itself is just three short blocks from the nearest beach access. The property is a short drive from down town CB with its shops, activities and dining and is equidistant to the smaller, but just as charming down town KB. There are fireworks during the summer every Thursday night and local fairs around the lake each Saturday morning.

CB and the surrounding neighborhood offers an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through CB State Park, Fishing on the KB Pier, Kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the ICWW, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesn’t even include the aweing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more relaxing and less “adventure” is your speed. Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be a great time.

And between the beach and Down Town Wilmington, boy do we have FOOD, Festivals, and good times!

Getting around

There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has a number of vendors (such as Pleasure Island Rentals @ 2 N Lake Park Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428 (golf carts) and Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 107 Charlotte ave Carolina Beach NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all!

After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

Our partners include the Tony Silvagni Surf School for professional surf lessons, bicycle, umbrella and chair rentals, Hot Ticket Fishing Charters, Salty Dog and Dust Busters Cleaning & Linens.

Carolina Beach

•The Town of CB offers multiple public parking options to visitors and residents on a FIRST COME-FIRST SERVE basis. Town-operated parking is open year round and paid parking is enforced March 1st - October 31st from 9AM - 8PM. Parking fees restart each morning during enforcement hours for all of the Town's parking lots and on-street parking spaces.

GOLF CARTS

•To the county, golf carts are considered automobiles. Generally speaking, golf carts are NOT allowed on premises of ANY condo, condotel, or apartment. The same goes for trailers, motorcycles, etc. For SFR’s or properties supporting multiple vehicles, carts should be OK. However, be conscious that few homes have external outlets WITHOUT GFCI’S (which are code by today’s standards).

•There is a $150 non-refundable pet fee for up to two pups. There is a two-dog maximum unless an exception is granted. Cats are not allowed on premises.

•April 1st through September 30th, dogs are allowed on the Carolina Beach during restricted hours of BEFORE 9:00 am and AFTER 5:00 pm. On the extreme North End of Carolina Beach, dogs are allowed on leash 24/7 on leash. In Kure Beach, dogs are NOT allowed at any juncture. Fort Fisher allows dogs on leash on the beach 24/7.

Pup rules for Pet Friendly homes

•Any interactions between your furry son or daughter and other neighbors (animal OR human) are completely at your discretion (and *liability). Please be a responsible pup owner and protect yourselves and others as may be necessary!
•Pups are NEVER allowed on any furniture.
•Do NOT let your pup bark excessively in any multi-unit environment.

Great Quick Summer Getaway

The home is as described and shown in the pictures. It is in a great area. We felt safe and comfortable. We were a short walk from the beach. We would stay again.

Nice House, Not a Safe Neighborhood

I will keep this as short and to the point as can be. The actual house, was a great size, had plenty of room for our 10 family members. The house itself was clean and nice. I am guessing there was a long term rental before we used it for Easter wend. There were PILES of trash, all of trashcans were full for the whole w/end and coolers of trash, it was very unsightly. Plus animals tore into during the night. What a mess. Also, there were beer cans left on the porch and drug "paraphernalia" that I had to get rid of so my grandchildren would be safe. The cleaning company did drop off an Easter basket for the family because of party stuff being left on site. Lastly, our neighbors, came into our side during the night. Then one of our cars got badly vandalized the same night. It got dented up badly. I am still dealing with trying to get the "RING" footage from the owners. I filed a police report and the car was right in front of the RING camera. The owners were not supportive and did not help (or have not to this point)? I don't understand NOT trying to help us? They go through Saltwater Rental Co. Dale from Saltwater, was very polite, and did answer me anytime I messaged him. I guess through the owners, his hands were tied. I would not stay here again. Evidently it is "shady" back on this dead end road, and lastly, the owners are NOT willing to try to help or even show concern about what happened. This is the 1st negative review I have ever written for VRBO (25 yrs)

Hey Sarah! Thanks for the feedback. The only thing we can put a guarantee on is our efforts and I appreciate you noticing! A few remarks for the sake of full transparency; The cleaners left you an Easter basket out of care and concern since your reported but unsubstantiated cleaning remarks seemed to warrant some extra care even after declining their offer directly to return. The other concern about the water heater was fairly easy to explain. No water heaters outside of a commercial setting are equipped to handle eight back-to-back adult sessions. Water heaters do need the time to rebuild their supply. Lastly, your son reported a dent or a scratch he found to his vehicle and you reached out to us for an assist. There was no vandalism, nor verification of anything malicious from any particular identifiable party. Due to not having any video evidence or otherwise to confirm where, when, or by whom the damage occurred (from neighbor to passer-by), we regrettably couldn't yield anything helpful. For that, we apologize! The neighborhood certainly is not unsafe. I'm unsure if there even is one such on the entirety of Pleasure Island. The integrity of our Island is at the mercy in large part, of those whom vacation here and either bring less than desirable habits or behavior with them. I hope that brings a little more context to your note and again, apologies that your stay brought more unexpected, albeit uncontrollable obstacles. I hope you have a great summer!
