Quartier historique joyau caché. Le meilleur emplacement.

À quelques pas des musées et des attractions touristiques ainsi que du célèbre Mercado del Puerto et du terminal portuaire qui relie Buenos Aires.
Avec tout ce dont vous avez besoin pour un séjour confortable et agréable. Très spacieux et ensoleillé avec des fenêtres du toit au sol donnant sur une rue piétonne. Le bâtiment a accès au toit avec barbecue où vous pouvez cuisiner votre propre "asado".

L'appartement est situé dans l'un des quartiers les plus beaux et les plus anciens de Montevideo, là où convergent trois rues piétonnes et où règne une atmosphère particulière et festive. C'est un deuxième étage par des escaliers. L'escalier en marbre est spacieux et original du 19ème siècle.
Nous avons opté pour une décoration éclectique, mélangeant le milieu du siècle moderne avec un design contemporain et fonctionnel. Vous profiterez d'une paire originale de canapés "Florence Knoll" ou vous allongerez sur une chaise longue Le Corbusier. Des œuvres d'art sont partout, d'artistes locaux et étrangers.

Les lits sont très confortables avec un matelas haute densité et peuvent être préparés en taille king ou single. La cuisine a tous les éléments nécessaires pour cuisiner: cafetière, bouilloire électrique, grille-pain, micro-ondes, cuisinière et réfrigérateur. Il existe un système musical Bose qui vous permet de recharger le téléphone tout en écoutant votre liste de lecture préférée. Le studio, 55 m2 / 600 est spacieux permettant de bien délimiter les espaces. La salle de bain est spacieuse et lumineuse avec une baignoire et tout ce dont vous pourriez avoir besoin: serviettes, savon, shampoing, revitalisant et sèche-cheveux.

Au dernier étage, il y a une buanderie avec lave-linge et sèche-linge à usage commun. De là, vous pouvez accéder à la terrasse sur le toit où se trouve un barbecue que vous pourrez utiliser pour préparer un "asado" traditionnel. De la terrasse sur le toit, vous avez une vue spectaculaire sur la baie de Montevideo, le bâtiment des douanes et le Cerro de Montevideo avec sa forteresse.

El edificio se encuentra en una de las zonas más bellas y antiguas de Montevideo, justo donde convergen tres calles peatonales y donde se live un ambiente especial y festivo.
Es un segundo piso por las escaleras. La escalera de mármol es amplia y original del siglo XIX.
Optamos por una decoración ecléctica, mezcla de "mid century" moderno con diseño contemporáneo y funcional. Podrá disfrutar d'un original par des canapés "Florence Knoll" o acostarse en un sillón Le Corbusier Lounge, con piezas de arte de artistas locales y extranjeros.
Las camas son muy cómodas con colchones de alta densidad y se pueden preparar en tamaño king o individual.
La cocina tiene todos los elementos necesarios para cocinar: cafetera, jarra eléctrica, tostadora, microondas, cocina y refrigerador.
Hay un sistema de música Bose que le permite cargar el teléfono mientras escucha su lista de reproducción favorita.
El estudio, de 55 m2, es espacioso, permitiendo que las áreas estén bien definidas.
El baño es grande y luminoso con una bañera y todo lo que pueda necesitar: toallas, jabón, champú, acondicionador y secador de pelo.

En la planta superior foin un área de lavandería con lavadora y secadora de uso común. Desde allí se puede acceder a la azotea donde hay una barbacoa que los huéspedes pueden utilizar para preparar un tradicional "asado".
Desde la azotea se tiene una vista espectacular de la bahía de Montevideo, la Aduana y el Cerro de Montevideo con su fortaleza. A una cuadra se encuentra la parada de autobús turístico, así como el transporte local.

Es muy fácil moverse de esta área a otras partes de la ciudad.
De todos modos, la mayoría de los museos y atracciones turísticas están a poca distancia del apartamento y se pueden recorrer caminando.

Host is very good at communication. Location of apartment is near the puerto Mercado in old town. My only advice to improve the experience is to have the check out and checkin process explained a bit so the guest doesn’t have to bother the host. Overall great experience.

The area is lots of fun, right by Mercado where the food is out of this world. The place was nice and clean, very spacious. Watch out for mosquitos, that is the only thing that bothered me. For sure take a tour, we took a private tour with a driver and was so worth it. Walk around, it is safe and enjoy all the parks, there are plenty of them!

This was my first VRBO experience and it exceeded my expectations. Location is terrific, communication with the host was A, felt at home immediately. The perfect architecture and atmosphere for a stay in Ciudad Vieja.

Host is super responsive to communication. The vibe of the space is really cool. Most of the furniture is vintage so not super comfy and has signs of wear, which didn’t bother us. Some things to note before booking, the stairs are very steep, the hot water doesn’t last more than 5 minutes, and there is sometimes the smell of sewage in the room, these are things one might expect in a super old building. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

This is a difficult review to leave; the apartment is clean, stylish and on a (mostly) quiet street near shops and restaurants. It's a very old building (part of the charm) and some steep winding steps up, but we're in our 70's and had no problems. But a few nights into our 11 night stay we did have to leave the property and move to a hotel due to flying insects, probably mosquitoes and some small gnats. We were badly bitten and I had a reaction to one bite that left an eye quite swollen. This can happen anywhere. And let me be clear these were NOT bedbugs. Host Veronica responded quickly and with concern, asked a neighbor to deliver some repellent, etc, but they didn't work. We then checked out.The host seemed eager to want to solve the problem, and may have by now. I still give our stay 4 stars because of her willingness to try and make things right and her willingness to negotiate a partial refund. It's a fun, old part of town and surprisingly quiet except for one night of music down the street. Were I younger I'd have joined them!The apartment was pretty much as presented on VRBO photos.

Cozy and Great Location

This is a charming apartment two blocks from the ferry port and a great value. It is 1/2 block from the Puerto Mercado, and lots of restaurants. The street is lively during the evenings and weekend with lots of people, bars, and music. Convenient grocery stores, pharmacy, bus stops, and tour pick up points all nearby. Constitution Plaza is about a 10 minute walk away. Kitchen is well equipped, good AC, lovely balcony, and comfortable bed. Note, this is a two flight walk up with about 40 stairs.

Exactly what we needed /perfecto para nosotros

We loved the location, no problems with the apartment or the neighborhood. The host was kind and understanding. There was some difficulty with check in due to our travel delay and difficulty getting messages through, but once we were able to meet someone at the apartment everything was fine. The bed was comfortable. The room temperature was easy to control. There was were mosquitos and flies that were a nuisance. The laundry area upstairs was convenient and the store around the corner has supplies for that. Would recommend to other travelers, single or couple, especially if you just need a place from which to explore the city. Nos encantamos el lugar, no había problema con el vecindario o el edificio del departamento. La anfitriona era amable y comprensiva. Nos tardemos en llegar por cosas fuera de nuestra control y ella fue adaptable. Una vez que podíamos comunicarnos ella arregló la check- in con una persona. El departamento es cómodo, fácil de controlar la temperatura y las muebles todo bien cómodos. Desafortunadamente había mosquitos. Pero sobre todo lo recomendamos este lugar, especialmente para quienes quieran explorar la ciudad y descansar bien. También es conveniente tener donde lavar ropa y la tienda del vecindario tiene todo lo que se necesita. ¡Era una excelente semana para nosotros!

Fun stay in Montevideo!

The host was super kind and flexible. When our flight arrival time changed from 12pm to 9pm, she helped us get our keys and transition into the place. The apt. was very clean and looked exactly like the photos. Additionally, the apt. is very close to a lot of touristy sites -- we were able to talk to everything in the downtown area. I do want to note that the location of the apt. is a bit sketchy. It's no problem during the day, but we opted to stay inside at night.

Lovely stay

Lovely stay. The place is as it looks in the pictures. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the deck with a bottle of wine. The bed was comfortable We had several great lunches at the market at Don Garcia. Enjoyed the street stalls and the quaint shops. The grocery store is close as well. Would stay again

Beautiful apartment

What a stunning place. The building is ancient with vaulted ceilings and huge windows. It has to be the most tastefully furnished place i’ve ever stayed in. I had to push myself out the door to discover the city. Maria is terrific.

Great place to stay

This was a beautiful apartment in a great location, near a market, car free avenues, and the rambla. We found tango lessons a few blocks away and very helpful people in the garage where we parked. We recommend this place.

Center of Ciudad Vieja Montevideo

This apartment is located in the center of all of the action, restaurants, wine bars, brew pubs, shops, grocery stores, bus lines, and the wonderful Mercado del Puerto. Super safe to walk around anytime of the day or night. All off the streets are monitored with halo cameras. So many fun things to jump off and do, but most of all I am a foodie and this place is surrounded by some of Montivedeos best restaurants. Great place to stay for a short culinary and cultural adventure. The apartment is clean and has everything you need. Pack light because there are two steep and long flights of stairs to climb.

Perfectly located in Ciudad Vieja

We loved this apartment, inside and out! The balcony was the clincher, plus the high ceilings and the open layout. Add to that some of the best places to eat and drink within a block or two. Veronica helped us get a ride from and to the airport, which made our visit so much more relaxed. We highly recommend the experience.

Beautiful apartment

I'm so glad I let my husband pick this apartment. Beautiful old building, apartment has been very nicely renovated. Terrace was a nice plus to have. Everything you would need in kitchen. Close to shopping. Nice bed. Architecture of the neighborhood was beautiful. My Uruguayo husband was my walking tour guide. Maria, the owner, answered any questions we had, and graciously allowed a much longer stay than we had originally planned, for which we were eternally grateful. Do not miss the chance to stay here!

I grew up in the interior of the country. At the age of 17 I came to Montevideo to study and here I married and formed my family.
I received as a journalist and worked in several written media. I love to write and read.
I also worked in two multinationals in areas of communication and marketing. This allowed me to learn a lot in other areas.
In all my works, what I enjoyed the most was the possibility to meet people, to know about their lives, their projects and their talents.
I currently work as a freelance journalist and communications and marketing consultant.
I came to HomeAway as a user. I love traveling with my family and since we are 5 members, the most convenient option was always HomeAway. Being a host now puts me on the other side, I hope I can apply all the things I learned by using this system.
I am one of those who writes on TripAdvisor about every place I go to. I always read the comments that other travelers leave. I think this kind of things help us improve and provide a better service.

A key point for trade with Europe, from the port began the construction of the rest of the city. This is why the historic center is a must see for all tourists. Not knowing the "Ciudad Vieja" is not knowing Montevideo. Architecture, design, art, music, smells and flavors coexist in this area giving it a unique and peculiar personality.

Punto clave para el comercio con Europa, desde el puerto se inició la construcción del resto de la ciudad. Es por esto que el casco histórico es una visita obligada para todos los turistas. No conocer la Ciudad Vieja es no conocer Montevideo. Arquitectura, diseño, arte, música, olores y sabores conviven en esta zona dándole una personalidad propia y peculiar. La mayoría de los museos están a pocas cuadras a la redonda, por lo que se pueden recorrer a pie. Tiendas de regalos, ferias artesanales, panaderías, supermarkets, casas de cambio, bicicletas para recorrer la zona, oficina de información turística, restaurantes, cafés y bares, abundan por el barrio. Hay rotiserías que ofrecen comida pronta para llevar para cuando el plan es comer en casa y muchas de ellas hacen delivery.
Caminar por las peatonales, parar a tomar un café o un rico vino, descubrir las tiendas de muebles antiguos, librerías y casas de arte, es parte de lo que ofrece este barrio, además de un pantallazo de nuestra cultura e idiosincrasia.
