The cabin was perfect and cozy! I rented it for my best friend’s 30th birthday and it couldn’t have been better. she had some other things she wanted to go out and do throughout the weekend but when she got there she loved it so much that we didn’t leave the entire weekend! it was an amazing little secluded getaway. the hosts were so nice and accommodating. i seriously have never stayed at a better vacation rental!

We spent a beautiful getaway weekend at Running Deer Farm, a serene retreat tucked into 40 acres of peaceful countryside. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely transported.Evenings were pure magic—curled up by the wood-burning fireplace, then stepping out onto the wraparound front porch to watch the sunset spill across the pond. Just beyond the rear patio, a tranquil water feature provided the gentle, soothing sound of water cascading over rocks, adding to the sense of calm.Rain moved in on Saturday, but it only made the experience sweeter. We happily stayed indoors cooking, crafting, and sipping hot tea, fully embracing the cozy log cabin atmosphere. Every detail—from the thoughtfully curated dĂ©cor to the rustic dishware—made it feel like a true remote escape, yet it’s conveniently just an hour from the Kansas City metro.It was the perfect setting to slow down, reconnect, and make lasting memories with friends. This certainly won’t be our last visit. Thank you for such a special stay!

We originally selected this property to create a private retreat for family, friends, special events, holidays, and even weddings—and it’s meaningful to now share that same sense of connection and celebration with our guests. There’s something special about welcoming others to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature. Guests love spending time by the water, fishing for catfish, bluegill, and largemouth bass, and taking in the quiet surroundings. Being able to offer an authentic rural retreat while creating memorable stays for families, couples, and friends is something we genuinely take pride in.

Outside, guests enjoy a relaxing triple-falls water feature, a grilling area perfect for outdoor meals, and a private dock on the pond—an inviting place to fish, unwind, or take in the peaceful surroundings. The custom post-and-beam barn, sourced from Connecticut, adds another layer of rustic character. Every element—from the natural materials to the landscape—creates a rare blend of comfort, artistry, and rural elegance.
