Nestled in the lush and serene surroundings of PÄhoa, this charming ocean view retreat offers a perfect blend of comfort and adventure.
Located off the scenic coastal Red Road (Hwy 137). Walk to Kehena Beach. Short drive to volcanic heated pond & newly created black sand beach at Pohoiki.
Please note base price includes 4 guests.
The space
The home was custom built for the owner. Fine materials and finishing throughout. Tall soaring ceilings, well chosen furnishings, and uncluttered design give this house an open and airy feel. Stunning panoramic ocean views from every angle. The house is situated to take advantage of our Hawaiian trade winds, providing cool ocean breezes throughout the day. The house has an open floor plan with the exception of one bedroom and bathrooms. Nicely sized at 1120 square feet with a gorgeous 750 sq. ft. covered wrap around deck providing you spectacular ocean views while enjoying the outdoor dining and lounge area.
The living room:
Provides a comfortable sectional sofa for seating. It has a large flat screen TV that is connected to the sound system and WiFi, so you can enjoy live-streaming your favorite shows/movies or relax to music.
The kitchen:
State of the art kitchen and appliances, large granite counter-tops with bar seating, and cupboards stocked with all essentials.
Master bedroom:
Has a new high quality queen size bed. Beautiful ocean view. Sliding glass doors open on to a peaceful yoga lanai.
The second bedroom:
Has a new high quality queen sized bed. It is separated with a bamboo privacy screen from the main room. Easy access to half bath.
The third bedroom:
Only available for parties more than four. It is located on the first floor of the house. It has a private entrance. Quality queen sized mattress. A private bathroom and kitchenette.
Laundry:
Washer and dryer are available to guests during specific hours.
Location:
The house is located in Puna District on the Big Island of Hawaii. Puna is completely off the beaten path and tucked away in the south-east part of the island. Beauty and nature abound with many ocean side hiking trails, dense jungle and tree canopies, lava flows, and thermally heated ponds.
Located within walking distance of the famous Kehena Black Sand Beach. Itâs in a quiet residential neighborhood with beautiful homes. Dark sky provides endless star gazing on clear nights.
The location feels remote, but is an easy 20 minute drive to the small town of Pahoa. There you will find restaurants, shops, and two grocery stores. Everything you could need. About a 50 minute drive to Hilo and 2.5 hours to Kona. Both Hilo and Kona have airports.
PLEASE NOTE: This home is best for guests who want a quiet retreat for relaxation. We enjoy hosting familyâs with children, but loud voices and play are discouraged. Please make sure that this Zen like atmosphere is well suited to you and your family.
Guest access
Guests have exclusive and private use of the second floor house and upper lanai. If more than four guests additional bedroom will be made available for a fee. All guests have use of the quiet use of the garden.

Staying connected and WIFI:
We have fast internet. Enough speed to accommodate telecommuting and Zoom meetings.
Cell service at the house and immediate surrounding area can be spotty. We recommend that you connect your cell phone through our wifi.
Good neighbor policy:
No loud noise please. The house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. It's best suited for guests who are looking for a quiet get away and retreat. Loud music and parties are discouraged at all times. Our Hawaiian Vacation Rental Permit requires no noise after 9PM. Good neighbor rules are posted in house, as required by local law.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a shared property. You may encounter other people on the grounds, including housekeeping and gardeners.

Sustainable design and care for our island.
We employ as many sustainable design principles as possible, We are partially off the grid and reduce our energy and waste footprint as much as possible. This means:
1. No Air conditioning. The house is designed/sited for a natural cross flow catching the abundant coastal trade winds. We have fans if needed.
2. Water collection: we collect our abundant rainwater. It is filtered and can be used for drinking water.
3. Electricity: we use the latest in LED technologies to reduce our energy usage.
4. Living wage: we pay a living wage to all our staff to help your community thrive.
5. If an extended stay is booked there will be a cleaning fee each month.
