Packwood Hideaway Guest House provides a perfect blend of comfort, privacy, and adventure that can be found around every corner. From hiking at Mt. Rainier National Park, to skiing and snowshoeing at White Pass, there’s so much nature to experience! Our cabins are surrounded by trees, roaming elk, and a peekaboo view of Mt. Rainier right from your bed. Walking distance to Packwood and its breweries, enjoy craft beer around a fire, exploring the Cowlitz river, a variety of restaurants and food trucks, and a farmers market during the summer months.
Escape to this spacious studio, located next to the main cabin, where you’ll find a queen bed and a sofa bed, perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure. The bathroom, with washer and dryer, and kitchenette (microwave, mini fridge, slow cooker, toaster, coffee maker, and electric kettle; note there is no hot plate and the sink is in the bathroom), offers convenience for longer stays. Stay comfortable year-round with heating and air conditioning. Enjoy the surroundings on just shy of an acre at one of two fire pits, or outdoor dining tables, or use the bbq to cook up dinner. Whether you’re unwinding or exploring, this awesome space offers everything you need for a memorable stay. We hope you enjoy what our place and Packwood has to offer!

We used it as a base for hiking Mt. Rainer NP. It is very close to the Stevens Canyon Entrance of the park, which provides access to many great trails. The grocery store in Packwood and a gas station are very close. Can't say if there is anything else of interest close by, as all we did was we hiked 12 hours a day on average, ate basic meals, and slept. The place was very clean, the shower had hot water, washer and drier worked, the bed was comfortable, and the host was very friendly. As far as we are concerned, it was all we needed, so I am happy to recommend this place.

The property had a "moldy" smell upon entry, possibly due to portable air unit conditioning unit?? The smell decreased with ventilation from outside. There is no dishwasher, so was a bit concerned about how coffee cups and dishes would be sanitized. The step (s) into the unit is not to code (uneven and too high), so there was some concern about falling. Only there 2 days.

I’m sorry to hear there was a “moldy” smell during your visit! We haven’t had anyone else mention this before so I’m really surprised but assure you we will look into it! As far as there being no dishwasher, many accommodations with kitchenettes do not have a dishwasher and we definitely state on the listing that dishes need to be washed in the sink. There is always dish soap and a drying rack available should people need them, and our cleaners do a fantastic job of sanitizing any used dishes. I do apologize if you had difficulty getting up and down the steps. The stairs onto the main cabin deck and down to the guest house are built to code should people require a hand rail. We are looking into installing a hand rail on the two steps to the guest house to provide improved accessibility. Our place is definitely more rustic than a hotel, but many folks find this part of the charm of a mountain getaway.

We are a family of four, originally from Seattle. Our boys were born abroad, one in New Zealand and one in Canada, but we moved back to the USA to be near family. We love traveling everywhere but this cabin and guest house is our happy place in the Pacific NW. We are happy to be able to share it with folks from all over!

We love our neighborhood because it is close enough to town to walk down to the grocery store and all the other restaurants and shops in Packwood but far enough away to feel like a mountain escape.

Located on a little under an acre, in a quiet neighborhood, our cabins offer plenty of privacy in a peaceful setting. Enjoy the peekaboo view of Mt Rainier and spot elk and other wildlife!
