South of there, Kaanapali offers golf courses, shopping, and dinner options. Stay near home for groceries and casual meals, then look toward the ocean at sunset or for whales in season. Getting Around:

Kahului Airport is about 40 to 45 minutes away along Maui's west side coastline. A rental car is recommended for exploring beaches, shopping, and dining along the coast.
