Beautiful Cottage with the most incredible view

We stayed the week in Urke for hiking and kayaking, we LOVED the cottage, it was beautifully designed, spacious living spaces and the full length balcony was perfect for soaking in the most incredible view of the fjord.

This is a truly special place. We stayed for a week and didn’t want to leave. The pictures doesn’t do the views justice. This is by far our favourite place we ever stayed at. And the owner Torunn was lovely and answered our questions in a fast manner. Also really appreciate to be able to bring pets along. Can’t say anything else but thank you.

The house is spacious and very comfortable with three bedrooms. It is located up the hill just below the forest and fully equipped. It provides opportunity to sit outside, under the roof, and grill or enjoy the fresh air. There is a beautiful view from the kitchen and living room. Good location for fishing and holiday stay. We have stayed over there for almost two weeks and really enjoyed despite sometimes having bad weather. The owner is helpful and supportive. It is also easy to use the ferry to Saebo or next big town Orsta.

Amazing Stay!

We had a most wonderful stay! It felt like home away from home. The cottage had everything we could possibly need and was spotlessly clean. We loved boating and fishing on the fjord. Our favorite fjord on our trip and we saw many! Such a magical place to visit! The owners are great! They are friendly and helpful. We would love to come back and stay again!!!

Captivating

An indescribably beautiful place with an enchanting view of the fjord and the majestic mountains. We had an unforgettable stay in the wonderful cottage and explored the local area and other places such as Loen and Gejranger. Highly recommended.

Stunning Long House Cottage in the Sky

What a wonderful place to spend 7 days & nights. Done a fair bit of driving through the Fjords over a couple of trips and the road up to Urke and our final destination takes some beating. Amazing place. An added bonus was getting out onto the Fjord on the boat that comes with wth cottage. Thank you Thorunn for all your help and advice which all added to making it an unforgettable few days.

Perfection!

Such a wonderful stay, this house is really something very special. Great architectural design, great art within the house. Everything on the kitchen you could need. Plenty of towels, bedding, cleaning bits. Not forgetting the outstanding view, I sat in amazement everyday, watching the ever changing light and reflections on water. We have great fun on the boat, visited lots of places nearby. I hope we will be able to come again on our next visit to Norway.

Fabulous cottage on the fjord!

We spent two weeks in this fabulous cottage in July. The photos on the website are accurate in terms of the cottage itself, but can't do justice to the outstanding view. The cottage was very clean, bright and comfortable, with everything we needed, including a good sized fridge and freezer. We cooked in the cottage every day and found the facilities for this to be excellent. The bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of spare sheets and towels. We took the boat out a couple of times to fish, but found that we had just as much luck fishing off the pier near the coffee shop and bar - we caught and ate a lot of fish in Urke. We mainly went to Urke to hike in the mountains and we were not disappointed. We hiked many of the trails, including Slogan, Saksa, Leknesnakken, patchellhytta, klokksegga and a few further afield. We found most of the trails in this area to be well marked, if a bit muddy and rocky in places, but enjoyed the hiking very much. The supermarket in the town is small, but adequate for most needs, but didn't have anything gluten free, if like me you need to eat that way - we had stocked up before we got to Urke, so it didn't matter. There is also a small shop selling locally grown tomatoes, cucumbers and if you are lucky, strawberries, although we were never there at the right time. Communication with Torunn was excellent from start to finish. I highly recommend this property.

My husband and I are so pleased to know that our renters are enjoying their stay at the cottage. As mentioned in the review, the beauty of the surroundings is just outstanding. Even if we could have wished to stay at the cottage most of the time ourselves, we are so happy to be able to share this experience with our renters.

"Notre 4e séjour à Urke"

"Nous avons passé notre 4e séjour à Urke et pour la troisième fois chez Thorunn. La première fois nous étions chez Rune c’est aussi une magnifique demeure dans la même rue, également sur Homelidays. Le logement et la région sont toujours aussi magnifiquent. Cette année nous avons été déçu de ne pas avoir été avertis lors de la réservation, qu’une nouvelle construction allait démarrée à 5 mètres de la maison, ce fut très bruyant, impossible de manger ou de s’installer sur la belle terrasse.Cette construction pourra perdurer et pourrais dénaturer un séjour calme dans cette maison."

The noisy construction work at our neighbouring site should have been finished in spring 2013. Unfortunately there was a delay, and our renters in August were disturbed. We were very sorry about the situation. The cottage of our new neighbours is placed on the east side, lower in the terrain and15 meters from our proporty. It will not disturb the view or the privacy of our terrace. The building will be finished by May 2014.

"The house is great ! Thanks to Torunn to rent it... We spent very good holidays here : the view from the house is fantastic, the house is modern, comfortable, quiet, well equipped (all to cook, the beds are very good quality, TV, internet,...). The boat is an marvellous "extra". The fjord is very beautifull and the location is near from Geiranger fjord, Trollstigen... You have also very pleasant hikking paths very near of the house (some starting from the village or the starting point of the ferry, another one in the norandgale valley).In one word, we enjoyed the week back to nature and out of time."

"Nous revenons à nouveau émerveillés de notre 2eme ce séjour à Urke, dans cette superbe nouvelle villa de charme où de la terrasse, le paysage est splendide et la construction norvégienne avec architecture moderne y est associée. Nous sommes dans un fjord aussi beau que le Geiranger et surtout loin de la foule. Les fjords environnants sont de toute beauté. Super ! d''autant que la propriétaire est d''une grande attention . Comme toujours il y a une barque à notre disposition, un plus certain pour découvrir la pêche. "

"La maison correspond en ...

"La maison correspond en tout point à sa description. Elle est magnifique et située dans un cadre idyllique et d''une grande tranquillité. Les vues sur le fjord offertes par les nombreuses baies vitrées sont absolument magnifiques. Le petit bateau à moteur compris dans la location est parfait pour les promenades sur le fjord et pour la pêche; si vous avez des enfants, ils seront enchantés. Nous avons loué de nombreuses maisons mais c''est la première fois que nous avons autant de mal à la quitter pour retourner chez nous!"

Urlaub in traumhafter Lage

Wir hatten in unseren zwei Wochen JEDEN Tag Regen. Am Anfang immerhin noch öfter mit etwas Sonnenschein. Von den Temperaturen her war es auch schon recht herbstlich. Trotzdem hat es uns super gefallen! Der Blick auf den Fjord, den das Haus bietet ist einmalig. Ich hätte stundenlang einfach nur auf den Fjord hinausschauen können. Das Haus war sehr sauber und mit allem bestens ausgestattet (Geschirr, Handtücher, Bettwäsche). Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt! Die Umgebung ist einfach sehenswert und die Fahrt durch das Tal Norangdalen immer ein Highlight. Auch mit dem Boot haben wir unsere Runden auf dem Fjord gedreht, schön, dass das möglich war! Wir würden definitiv das Haus wieder buchen. Vielleicht gibt es in der Zukunft auch noch eine Wallbox, das würde es noch etwas einfacher machen. 😉

Die Aussicht ist genial

Die Aussicht von der Terrasse könnte nicht schöner und imposanter sein!! Das Haus ist doch sehr in die Jahre gekommen und die Sauberkeit lässt zu wünschen übrig. Die Auffahrt könnte besser gepflegt werden und es sollten auch kein Bootsträger in der sehr steilen Auffahrt gelagert werden.

Einfach traumhaft!

Wir haben zwei wunderbar erholsame Wochen in Thrallheimen verbringen dürfen und möchten uns ganz herzlich bei Torunn für ihre Gastfreundschaft, ihre Erreichbarkeit und natürlich für ihr unglaubliches Haus, das wir nutzen durften, bedanken. Thrallheimen ist ein unvergesslich schönes Haus, das alles bietet, was man braucht. Wir haben den Ausblick, der sich ständig verändert, je nachdem wie die Wolken und die Sonne stehen, so genossen. Es fehlte uns an nichts. Urke ist ein ganz besonderes Fleckchen Erde und wir waren bestimmt nicht zum letzten Mal dort. Thrallheimen können wir allen, die einen unvergesslichen Urlaub verbringen möchten, nur empfehlen.

Schönes Haus in toller Lage!

Das Haus liegt sehr ruhig, fast im letzten Dorf an dieser Straße, anschließend kommt nur noch die Fähre. Es gibt alles, was man im Urlaub benötigen könnte. Die Aussicht ist spektakulär und exakt so wie auf den Bildern. Wir haben viele Tagesausflüge unternommen. Man muss sich nur gewahr sein, dass die einzuplanenden Fahrzeiten sehr viel länger sind als bei vergleichbaren Entfernungen in Deutschland. Aber wen das nicht stört, der ist hier richtig. Wie haben unsere zwei Augustwochen hier sehr genossen.

Hôte : Torunn Thrall

We are a lucky couple who found the place of our dreams and had the opportunity to build the cottage. We spend as much of our time as possible at the cottage, but our normal day life with children, grandchildren and jobs are in Stavanger, in the south/west of Norway. Ole is a journalist and Torunn is working with visual art.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

Ole is originally from Aalesund. For years we have spent every summervacation in the area, visiting friends and family and travelling around to see all the wonderful nature and spots. The first time we came to Norangsfjorden, we were totally stunned by the nature, and decided that if ever a summerhouse, this is the place. Two years later we saw an advertisment about the site, and we bought it unseen. Luckily the site has a wonderful view, and our summerhouse, designed by an architect, gives you a panoramic view to the fjord and the mountains.

The nature in the area and the view to the fjord and the mountains is just fantastic. All our guests have been stunned by the beauty. The cottage is close to many of the most spectaculare tourist attractions in Norway.
