Huge holiday home with plenty facilities

MASIA DE FERRÉN gives you the opportunity to stay in a XV-century mansion, situated in one of the cosy villages of the Penedés wine district, surrounded by vineyards.The house has for many years served as mayor of housing for the region's mayor and one senses clearly the fashionable athmosfære.

As the C-15 passes only 2 km. from the house, you can be in the regional capitol Vilafranca del Penedés in 5 minutes, visit the beaches of Sitges or Vilanova in 25 minutes, or visit Barcelona in 50 minutes.

If you enter from the church-square, you will be amazed that such a big and beautiful house is hidden behind the discrete wall. When you enter the gate, you meet a nice and quiet front-garden, leading to the main entrance of MASIA DE FERRÉN.

MASIA DE FERRÉN itself is 600 square meters, with 6 beautiful bedrooms and has room for 12+2 guests. The left part is the most antique, and where the noble people once lived. It has very high ceilings and a lot of space. The many different spaces have been used for a sofa corner with TV, a place for playing cards and a room with table tennis and armchairs in front of the fire place. The house is equipped with WIFI Internet. There are also some toilets next to the garden exit, perfect as you will probably spend a lot of time outside.

In the right part, the kitchen is nicely located, with a door to the garden to one side, and directly connected to the other side, a dining room with a big dining table. The classic-style kitchen is well-equipped with stove, hotplates, fridge, freezer, microwave etc. and also, an open barbecue makes it possible to prepare meat over open fire.

On the first floor of MASIA DE FERRÉN, you find the 6 bedrooms. Four of the bedrooms are double rooms and 3 of them with bathroom ensuite. The last two bedrooms have 2 single beds each and room for an extra bed, so they can be converted to triple rooms.

As additional facilities, two of the bedrooms have a balcony with pool view and a third bedroom has a big terrace. In addition there is on this floor a small sitting area, and 2 extra bathrooms (1 downstairs) to be shared between the rooms without bathrooms, hence in total 5 bathrooms. Finally, there is a room with washing machine, so you can do your laundry during your stay,

The garden on the other side of MASIA DE FERRÉN, is very spacious. Closest to MASIA DE FERRÉN, you will have the pool area with a covered terrace area. The swimming pool is 8 x 4 meters and with low part for small children. In the other end, some beautiful pine trees provide shade and excellent view over the vineyards and the Montserrat Mountain. A game of petanque between the trees might prove a good idea.


Activities during your stay
Vilafranca del Penedés is a big and lively town, always worth a visit. It is especially known for its Saturday market, where people from the entire region comes to buy fresh food and many other things sold everywhere in the streets of the antique town center. They are also proud to be the best in the Catalan discipline “castells”, human towers. It is fantastic experience, so we recommend contacting the tourist office for information about whether it is possible to see it during your stay.

As you are staying in the middle of Catalonia’s most well-known wine district, we will of course recommend a visit to a wine producer (bodega). You can just drive around, and many signs will show you to the bodegas, or with children, you could consider one of the bigger places (Cordorniu, Freixenet, Torres), where organized tours take you around in small trains.

If you want a day at the beach, Sitges is a very nice town with some excellent beaches. Alternatively, there are places, perhaps less crowded on the coastline. If you want to go to Barcelona, it is only 50 minutes by car, or you can park in Vilafranca del Penedés and take the train. For the children, you could also consider going south to Universal Studios Port Aventura, just on the other side of Tarragona, 1 hour drive approximately.
