The Chairman's retreat was great. It was very well equipped, and was very comfortable. Chris' communications was excellent and all the instructions were very clear. Would highly recommend!

Unusual, lovely house. Definitely one for those that don’t want a generic holiday home. Great that you have outside access on every level. The kitchen is fantastic and the eclectic mix of furniture in the rest of the house, works really well. Host was very helpful and responded to any messages very quickly.The house is a little difficult to find but, host soon explained directions.

We had such a wonderful stay in this beautiful Cotswolds home. From the moment we arrived, we felt comfortable and at home. The house was spotless and beautifully maintained, thoughtfully equipped with everything we could possibly need. It was comfortable, welcoming, and truly made for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We loved the charm of the home and the beautiful surroundings—it truly felt like a special place to stay.Our hosts were so gracious, warm, and welcoming. Communication was always prompt and timely.We made some lovely memories here and were genuinely sad to leave. It was the perfect place for our time in the Cotswolds, and we would absolutely love to return. We couldn't recommend this beautiful home and its wonderful hosts more highly.

Great place in Slad

We had beautiful weather for our stay, the backyard was enticing and a great hang out spot. The excellent local pub was a short walk away and the walk to Painswick through Frith Woods is beautiful. A lovely property in a beautiful location.

Wonderful property for large Family groupp

We had a fantastic Easter weekend at the Chairman’s Retreat. A great property for the 8 of us, perfect location for the activities we had planned. The property has everything you need if you were to stay in and cook, but a great location to drop into Stroud to try the local restaurants and the Farmers Market on Saturday morning.

Fantastic property & location

We had a lovely stay in this fantastic, spacious property in Slad. The excellent hospitality pack including fresh eggs from the hens in the garden was much appreciated. The property is an easy stroll to an excellent pub serving great food. We would definitely return if we are in the area again. Thanks to Chris & wife for everything.

Wonderful stay

We had an amazing stay in this beautiful house. It was immaculately clean with everything we needed for a relaxing and comfortable weekend away. We were a group of 8 (6 adults and 2 children). The house is beautifully decorated and Chris and Suzanna gave very clear and helpful instructions on how to use alll the facilities and gadgets in the house. We really enjoyed using the garden and the stunning views! We would love to visit again. Thank you for an amazing stay!

A True Gem

Perfect, quiet getaway. Home is super clean with all high quality amenities and beautiful furnishings. Nestled in a quiet Cotswold village. A quick walk to The Woolpack for a meal, or drive to larger villages of Stroud or Painswick. Scenic views everywhere. Thanks Suzanne, Chris and family.

A fine home.

As a family group meeting up for our first get together for a couple of years this lovely home was perfect for our needs. We found the property spacious, very clean and filled with interesting 'homely' items and objects that added to the many other comforts provided. A proper cooks kitchen was enjoyed and the large television had all of the channels we needed for nights in. A meal at the local 'Woolpack Inn' was an evening highlight and the local area is great for walking trips. Plenty to do and see for all ages and a wonderful home to return to each evening. We highly recommend this rental.

This is an exceptional property and one of our absolute favorite rental homes ever. The house was perfect for our extended family of six, with an active child and teenager. The back garden is truly unique and was the highlight of our stay -- it has multiple areas and levels for reading, sitting, and playing. We brought badminton rackets and birdies, which worked well. The landscaping is lovely and was in full bloom for our late May visit. We loved visiting the hosts' flock of chickens, petting their two cats who wander outside, and then walking up the short steep hill to sit at the bench and overlook idyllic views of Slad Valley with its peaceful fields of sheep, cows, and horses. The kitchen is gorgeous and has everything you need to make meals. The bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable and spotless, and the house is beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches everywhere. The hosts are so friendly and generous - we loved Chris's delicious homemade flapjacks, the fresh eggs, and the kind provisions of milk, butter, orange juice, prosecco, and other treats. They even lent us camping chairs and an umbrella one day so that we could go to the Cotswold Park and Beach during the record-breaking heat wave! We highly recommend this property and would absolutely stay here again.

Our Family Ruby Anniversary Celebration.

We had a perfect stay in this beautiful ,very high standard Property in a most wonderful location The six adults and two toddlers spend a most memorable time at the Chairman's retreat. Thank you to the owners Chris and Suzanne who have thought of everything you could possibly need .including lovely toys for the children, much to their delight. Bridget and Graham and their extended family were delightful guests for us. They really embraced the local area and fully enjoyed the house and all it has to offer. They really looked after the house during their stay and left it clean and tidy when they headed home. I very much hope they visit us again one day and would recommend them as guests to anyone.

The Chairman’s Retreat is a beautiful, very well appointed home. Four very pleasant bedrooms, with lovely, fresh, crisp, bed linens. The kitchen is superbly equipped, and has a fabulous cooking range with a couple of ovens, grill, and warming drawer. The views of Frith Woods and the Slad Valley are breathtaking. Chris and Suzanne were very welcoming, and Chris was so helpful (and a great baker to boot. His home-made flapjacks were delicious). They stocked up the ‘fridge with supplies for our first night, and breakfast. Very much appreciated.Thank you so much to you both for being fabulous hosts.

Beautiful location and amazing house

We had a simply wonderful weekend to celebrate my husbands 50th Birthday, Chris was an exceptional host, very prompt responses to any questions and a warm welcome on arrival. The welcome gifts were also a really lovely touch. The location is idyllic with the most incredible views. We were a group of 4 couples and all the rooms were spacious and very comfy beds. The whole house has been planned with care and the kitchen was extremely well equipped. We had hired a private chef for the Saturday night and he had everything he needed to cook for us. We enjoyed the walk into Stroud which gave more wonderful views, and we also visited the woolpack pub a few minutes walk from the house. Thank you again for your wonderful hospitality it was a perfect way to celebrate.

Lovely property, great location

Four ladies on a catch up weekend and what a lovely time we had Great property with lovely owners Property had everything we needed nothing was left unanswered and owners were on call Property was clean and comfortable The Woolpack pub a five minute walk up the road we found very accommodating with friendly staff and fantastic food. Sunday roast is a must and so is the sticky toffee pudding. We followed Chris’s walk into Painswick on Saturday as the weather was gorgeous. We were very fortunate to see deers in the fields and also lots of birds and wild flowers. If your not a walker this walk could be challenging as steep in parts but slow and steady wins the race We had the best time in a fabulous property in a fantastic part of England. Perfect

Came over from the states for a short stay at The Chairman’s and had a fantastic time. Chris was excellent at communicating and the pictures don’t do the property justice. Walking distance to the woolpack and the back garden leads into some glorious walks. Chris and his wife left us eggs, orange juice and home baked goods as a welcoming gift. What a nice and thoughtful touch! Having stayed in a few other properties is slad I think the chairman’s is one of the best and Chris is natural host. 10/10 bravo. Thank uou sir

The UP side: This Holiday House is very pleasant .. especially regarding the top floor living room with its big fireplace and sliding glass doors leading to a lovely garden to the rear of the property .. the upstairs bedroom and bath are also both excellant .. all of the kitchen appliances and laundry are top-drawer and work perfectly, although the kitchen suffers from the same narrow dimensions which plague the adjacent dining room .. The DOWN side: the downstairs bed and bathrooms are, unfortunately, more or less in the basement of the structure and are a bit less perfect and were cold at night .. the parking is down on a much lower level which results in a bit of a hike up a steep hill to the house .. we had one member of our party temporality on crutches due to a recent injury and another older member of our party who both found the steep every day climb up to the Holiday House a bit of a challenge .. Overall: Nestled in a green and beautiful countryside, the tiny town of Slad with its ancient church and an equally ancient tavern is a wonderful retreat from all places in our lives which are too busy and too loud and is a medium short drive to all of the Cotswolds .. Note to the owners of the property: Please let us apologize for our horrible job of sorting things out for the garbage and the recycling, it's just something for which we Americans have no skill what-so-ever .. Thanks

Fantastic Stay

Our group loved staying at The Chairman's Retreat! The house is exceptionally clean and well stocked, very comfortable with great amenities. Location was fantastic; easy drive to Stroud for groceries and lovely ride to various Cotswold locations for shopping and sightseeing. The hosts are TREMENDOUS! They went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we need and to give recommendations in the area. They even provided a sweet welcome card and homemade flapjacks when we checked in. We could not have been more pleased with our stay! Highly recommend!

Wonderful village retreat

We have really enjoyed our stay in the property while we attended a friends wedding in the village . The house is well appointed with everything you need for a weekend stay . We had our 2 year old grandson with us and he loved the brio trains that were thoughtfully in the house and the safe fenced garden. We loved the powerful showers and the comfortable beds. The kitchen had all the crockery and cooking utensils you need so if you wanted to cook a meal you could . Check and check out was easy and our privacy was protected by the hosts. We know the area well as we have visited on many occasions however the location lends itself for being central for many local attaractions as well as walks around the beautiful Slad valley . We will definitely return . Thank you

Spectacular surroundings

Lovely property and surrounding area. The retreat had everything we could need for a lovely stay. Our hosts made sure we had all that we needed for our first wake up. They left us eggs, bacon, butter, milk, bread and wine. My sisters and I had a lovely time.
