Bolara 60 Kućica: stone country cottage

We are a British couple with a passion for food and sustainable tourism. Anna is a trained chef and a food anthropologist. She offers daily breakfasts, convivial dinners and occasional cooking classes to guests and enjoys making everything from scratch - from the sourdough bread to pancetta, pickles and ice cream... Matt is a computational linguist, affiliated to the University of London and a research group in Ljubljana. He speaks English, German, Croatian, Italian and French. We live at Bolara 60 so are available to advise guests on where to go around here, what to eat and who to meet. When not in the kitchen we tend to be in the vegetable garden, feeding the chickens or playing with our cats! We try to ensure we tread lightly on the environment here - there is no air-conditioning or pool, heating and hot water come from solar panels and the log burners, we recycle everything we can, and we garden as organically as possible.

This is our home! It is a very old house which we spent 5 years carefully renovating using local materials and salvaged antique pieces. Istria is beautiful, especially the green and hilly northwest corner where we are located. Everyone who comes here falls in love with it.
