Lovely stay at “Sunset House”

We had a very enjoyable and relaxing 10 day stay. The house is conveniently located, comfortable and spacious, accommodating our large extended family. Gorgeous views of rolling hills with stunning sunsets.A large, efficient barbecue with outdoor dining, looking over the pool.Highly recommended.

Unfortunately when we arrived the accommodation was still being cleaned. Especially disappointing as I had contacted the owners requesting an earlier check in due to the wedding rehearsal being earlier than expected. It actually looked like the owners themselves were staying there which was more infuriating. I had my family from the UK and Thailand who had flown in and obviously we all just wanted to rest. The owner clearly apologised. The house was a “not what we thought” with pad locks on many cupboards and wardrobes which left no space to hang our dresses or suits for the wedding. Infact my family had to hang their outfits in my room. The house wasn’t cleaned to a standard I would expect. However the linen and towels were good. Overall we paid an extortionate amount of money for a three night stay (almost 6000) that wasn’t tbh what we imagined. When paying this amount of money I would expect the house to be thoroughly cleaned and ready. Wardrobes to hang our clothes for all guests not just the master bedroom without “cheap” padlocks everywhere. I booked this a year in advance with lots of communication with the owners (which was great!) as I wanted this stay to be perfect especially as my daughter was getting married nearby but unfortunately it just wasn’t so and was a huge disappointment.

Dear guests Firstly, we are genuinely shocked & disappointed to read your review, as we did not receive any contact from you during or after your stay, until you submitted this review. We always strongly encourage our guests to contact us during their stay if their face any disappointment or concerns etc, yet you chose not to, which left us in a difficult situation not being able to address your concerns there & then which we would have been more than happy to. In respect to your comments regarding the "cleaning" still being carried out when you arrived - our booked cleaner had to leave earlier that day than usual as her daughter had an unfortunate medical emergency, so my husband who was on holidays with our daughters had to rush to the property & help out. My husband apologised profusely to you about that & hence the reason why we could not accept your late request for an earlier checkin was due to the cleaners situation with her daughter going into hospital for surgery. If we had of had more time to address your request we would have looked at engaging alternate cleaners, but your request was too last minute. The cleaning however was carried out to the exact high standard that it always is as per the inspection. In respect to your comments regarding "wardrobes" and "padlocks" - there are 5 bedrooms in the house with robes in all 5 bedrooms. All robes were opened for you with plenty of hangers for you to hang clothes for 3 days with ample space plus shelving and in addition there are hooks on the back of all bedroom doors, so I do not understand how you could even comment that "left no space to hang our dresses or suits for the wedding". As owners we have our own personal property locked up in cupboards with padlocks - I do not understand your concern with the quality of the padlocks that we use for our personal belongings when those cupboards should not be accessed by guests. We have always received 10/10 reviews on this site & others we are listed on about our property during the 10 years that we have been holiday letting it for guests, so as mentioned we are shocked to read your review. I do hope that your daughter had a wonderful wedding and that was the focus of your joy during your stay.
