Mitchell Cabin-1870 Farmhouse with modern amenities-Fire Pit-Picnic Area

This cozy 1 bedroom 1 bath cottage was built in 1870 by William Butler Garrett then down to his great grandson, Dr. William E. Mitchel. The property was restored as originally built, log by log, by Garrett's great-great granddaughter & family. Logs were marked & moved & restored for the front room, exactly as it stood in 1870, adding the modern amenities.

Open floor plan front room features the living room with fireplace (available beginning Sept 15) & full furnished kitchen. Decorated in farmhouse fashion with the modern amenities for todays guests. Large bedroom has a queen bed. Full bath with tub/shower combination.

Nice large yard with firepit & picnic area overlooking a gorgeous farm setting surrounded by the mountains. The covered porch is the perfect place to take in the beauty of the area.

Close to downtown Bryson City while still being in a private setting with easy access. Perfect for a couples getaway.

Great little cabin for 1-2 people. Located a few minutes from downtown, tubing, train, and grocery store. Very clean. Perfect combination of rustic and modern. AC worked fantastic during record high heat. Has everything you need to be comfortable and store/cook food so you don’t have to eat out every meal. Great character and history, as well. Take a few moments to notice the little things - pictures, antiques, reading material, and guest log book dating back several decades. Take a step back in time but with all the amenities of today. And the view of the goat farm is icing on the cake. Highly recommend.

The Mitchell Cabin is a gem! The property and views are stunning. My family and I loved watching the goats on the neighboring farm each morning. The loft is not useable however an air mattress and the pull out couch worked for our family of four. A wonderful stay!

Mitchell Family Cabin

This was our second trip to the MFC. My husband and I were both recovering from surgeries and decided it would be nice to recuperate away from home. We absolutely love the cabin and cannot wait for our next visit.

We were drawn to the house because of the history. The house was extremely clean and comfortable. We got to meet George and talk with her about the history of the house and some of the decor. We highly recommend this home.

Thanksgiving visit to Bryson City and Western NC

Beautiful rustic 1800s log home, with all the amenities one could needed, tucked away in a quiet holler. Views were just as advertised and enjoyed the goat farm duties from the front porch. Even got to meet the owner, which briefly explained the history of the home. If we have the opportunity to stay here again, hope she comes by for a visit. Could certainly listen to a longer version. If you’re in the area, and want a quiet place for 2, minutes away from downtown BC, you wont be disappointed.

Peaceful Place

This property has recently been renovated and is just right for a couple! Great attention has been given to small details in decorating and representing the history of the family. It is beautiful! Bring your food to cook and any specialty items and you will be set. Property has eating utensils, cooking utensils, dishes, pitchers, cookware, cutting boards, a grill, microwave, etc. Remember to bring your hair dryer if you need one and any personal bath products (body washes, shampoos, etc.). There is a washer and dryer if you need it during the stay but be sure to bring a small container of laundry detergent. We brought outdoor games and a hammock to enjoy the property even more. The goats are fun to watch across the way while you rock on the front porch. The property is easy to get to and has a great gravel parking area. Few steps to the porches and one level throughout in case that may be a worry for you. The rental company is responsive to phone calls and emails before your stay. We didn't need to contact during stay. Overall - would not hesitate to stay again. :)

Not only was the cabin beautifully designed and decorated, it was sparklingly clean. The view from the front porch was idyllic, a small farm, pasture and a flock of goats. We could wake up everyday to that peaceful scene. We just wish we could have stayed another day!!
