Calypta Retreat :: Umina Beach

Nestled in a leafy part of South Umina, Calypta Retreat is the perfect getaway for a family or couple looking for an ocean break. Only 3 minutes drive (15 minutes walk) from Umina Beach and the Peninsula Recreation Precinct the accommodation suits those who enjoy the great outdoors.

Umina Beach is a 90 minute drive from both Sydney and Newcastle and is ideal for swimming, surfing, SUPing and walking on one our many dog-friendly beaches or bush walks.

The space
Calypta Retreat occupies the entire upstairs of my house. It has a separate entrance and fully fenced garden. It is also dog-friendly.

The accommodation consists of the following:
• 2 bedrooms - one double and one king (or 2 singles)
• Travel cot and high chair are available by request
• Open plan living and dining
• Fully equipped kitchen and laundry
• Modern bathroom with freestanding shower
• Sun-drenched balcony with barbeque
• Large, fully enclosed pet-friendly garden

Guests access the property via a path up the side of the house, through a lockable gate and up a flight of outdoor steps. They have private access to the entire upstairs of the house and a fully fenced garden.

We had such a wonderful stay. The whole place was spotless, it was so incredibly clean. We all loved staying and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. A beautiful pet friendly place is hard to find and this place is perfect. All communications were very clear and easy with Rob. Thanks again for a lovely beach getaway.

Rob is a wonderful and welcoming host. The home is super clean and has all you need to have a comfortable and enjoyable holiday. Absolutely loved the fact my Labrador was welcomed to stay. Close to beaches, cafes and great locations within walking distances. Looking forward to our next stay!

Lovely, spacious and everything included, Calypta Retreat is a very nice two-bedroom getaway. Nearby beach is great for dogs ... and people. Would have been nice to have a couple of seats or chairs in the yard.

It's a winner

This is my 2nd time staying here. LOVED our time. Rob is very accommodating, helpful and friendly. The place is perfectly described, clean and not too far away from the beach, shops and great walks.

Lovely, thoughtful accomodation

Calypta Retreat was everything we hoped for. Well appointed, spotless, comfortable and much nicer than other ‘dog friendly’ places we’ve been to. Loved the bookshelf and took advantage of the box of ‘coaster games’. Would definitely return.

Great family+pet friendly spot

Rob's place was in a great location. It was private, sunny and airy and ideal to get away from the bustle of the city for a couple of nights with the dog and young kids. Rob was friendly and communicative, both in person and via Stayz, and checking in and out was a breeze. The only "criticism" I could possibly make is that there were some bindis in the grass out the front - but being Australia I would have been surprised if there weren't any! Thanks for hosting us :)

Great experience

Rob was so helpful as we had a car accident and needed to source accommodation . Went out of his way to assist us . The unit is fully stocked with everything you could need and very clean . The neighbors are very close but I guess it’s just a heavy populated area . Close to the beach and eateries . Highly recommend !!

A truly comfortable stay

Calypta Retreat exceeded our expectations. It's in a great location - walking distance to the beach - and has everything we needed to have a really comfortable stay with our dogs. The yard is fully enclosed and I felt our dogs were safe and secure in the yard. The property is fresh and clean and the linen crisp and smells delightful. Everything is there to make your stay easy and enjoyable and the place is beautifully decorated. We stayed in spring and the smell of the Port Wine Magnolia in the back yard was delicious. Thanks Rob for a providing such a beautiful sanctuary in which to relax.

Everything you could want in the property.

Property was well decorated, clean and had the feel of home away from home. The backyard was ideal for our two dogs large and secure.
