Swallows Rest, Bright

Breathe in the fresh country air and enjoy taking to the area by foot, stepping out of the driveway to your left will take you up through the hills to Brights famous Apex Lookout with stunning views across the valley.
Turning right out of the driveway will take you on a downhill walk in to Brights town centre, crossing the Ovens River and through the towns popular Centenary Park.

This property is managed on behalf of the owner by Bright Holidays (part of the Dickens Real Estate group).

BEDDING CONFIGURATION
Bedroom 1: King bed with ensuite including luxury spa bath.
Bedroom 2: Queen Bed
Bedroom 3: Queen Bed
Bedroom 4:Queen Bed
Bedroom 5: 2 x Single Beds
All bedrooms feature large built in wardrobes and electric blankets, plus extra blankets for the cooler months.
There are luggage stands in each bedroom for your convenience.
All linen is provided at this property.

LOUNGE & ENTERTAINMENT
Sit back and relax in the large living area, looking out to the country-style garden. Curl up on the comfortable couches and read your favourite book. NOTE: The open fireplace is not operational.

WIFI is available at this property.

KITCHEN & DINING
The large light filled kitchen is well equipped with breakfast bar, large oven, cook top, and dishwasher, which will make entertaining a breeze, walk through the kitchen into the dining room with a Coonara wood heater and seating for six.

BATHROOMS
An ensuite off the master bedroom as stated above. The main bathroom has a large bath, shower and vanity, with separate toilet and powder room.

LAUNDRY
Laundry facilities include both washer & dryer and a clothes airer.

HEATING & COOLING
A ducted heating & cooling system in the main areas of the house with a heat transfer system, a Coonara wood heater in the kitchen/dining area (NOTE: The open fireplace is not operational). Please note: firewood is not provided at this property. Firewood, kindling and fire lighters can be purchased at both the local supermarkets and service stations.

OUTDOORS
A BBQ and outdoor table setting is located in the backyard, enjoy alfresco dining amongst the well-manicured gardens.

Cousins get together

We travel together every year and the 5 of us love a bedroom each. This house had spacious bedrooms and fully equipped kitchen. The setting was great and ample car parking too. Clean and tidy. Would stay here again

Swallows Rest

The property was everything as advertised, beautiful and very clean inside. Outside along the verandah and windows were lots of spiders and webs which I cleaned away but the property and surrounding properties were beautiful. Highly recommend this property to everyone.

Great property for group

We were a group of 10 adults and found the property very clean, with everything we required. The property has good outdoor areas and plenty of car parking space. It’s located in a quiet street. We liked how we had use of the double garage to store our motorbikes. It is also a short walk to the town which was good for us as we were on bikes. Will book again when l go to Bright.

Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay at this house, usually at 12 Mt Porpunka Rd, this house was spacious quiet and comfortable, great beds and the heater was fantastic.Just needs a few updates, such as the stove and oven and the taps in the bathrooms were showing their age, outdoor table and chairs could also do with an upgrade. Other wise everyone was happy.

One reason we chose this home was because of the fireplace and wood heater. We very carefully lit the fire in the fireplace, and before long the house began to fill with smoke. We needed to open the doors and windows to be able to safely sleep at night. The house was listed with a BBQ but this was not operational, and some money was refunded because of this fact when I asked for compensation.

Reviewer Comments: I stayed at this home 5 weeks ago and was disappointed that my concerns advised at that time had not been fully addressed.The garden was still in a very poor state, wifi was still not available abt the split system still not working. In saying that the home was very clean and comfortable.Work also needs to be done on the steps leading up to the house they are very uneven and one of my party had a fall, luckily no serious injuries.

Reviewer Comments: Good things: location and size of house.Bad things: cook top very old, bordering on unusable. We chose not to cook with it as it was in such bad condition. Many spider webs throughout house. Open fire place had soot throughout and made the house smell. Not many garbage bags, washing things (had to buy both). Outside furniture in tired condition.

Other then that it was OK

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been coming to Bright at Easter for over 30 years, our families love spending Easter in Bright. Unfortunately, this years accommodation at Swallows Rest wasn’t the experience we usually encounter. Firstly, the BBQ wasn’t available (broken), then we soon found out the microwave also wasn’t useable. Next the cook top (gas) had only 1 hob functioning and the oven door had a broken hinge. Not sure how we were expected to feed our families! Dickens were wonderful with assisting us with a new microwave and a portable hot plate. This property certainly requires updates and replacement of essential cooking appliances.

Unfortunately our stay was slightly compromised by a leaking out door BBQ which had to be decommissioned by a plumber. The stove top in the kitchen was also faulty and needs replacing. The micro wave stopped working and the out door table needs replacing. The Estate Agent looking after the property were fantastic and caring to deal with. We were able to negotiate a discount on our stay as a result.I would only recommend this property to others if the items listed were replaced.The lesson: Always ask if everything is in good working order before committing.Bright was also very busy at the start of the school holidays and it was hard to book anywhere to eat so be prepared to take your chance on what ever is available.

Very cosy and comfortable.

We really enjoyed our stay at this house 🏠 😀 it cozy and comfortable. Good things is they even extend our stay up to 1pm. Thank you very much for this as we don't have to rush. For sure we will go back again and book this house again. Until next year summer time.*
