What a wicked place the hut was awesome, we loved the off the grid aspect having solar to run the hut, being able to get away from busy workloads to celebrate our wedding anniversary was beautiful. The hosts were a lovely couple made us feel like we were at home.Thanks guys.PS we wanted to come see you before we left but we left early and didn't want to disturb you.

We had an amazing. Liane was a great host, kind, friendly and welcoming. The location is amazing and the photos do not do it justice - mountain and forest views out the window, and the hut is larger than we expected with beautiful timber.

The cabin is thoughtfully layed out and beautifully presented. The kitchen is well equipped including a small fridge, oven, and stovetop.The raised bed was a highlight - I enjoyed falling asleep while watching the stars and waking to the sound of birdsong.Another highlight was the river swimming. The track down to the river is a little rough, but the 10 minute walk was well worth it.The host was friendly and available, but not intrusive and facilities were clean and functional.There is plenty to do in the area and I particularly enjoyed the Nile River walk and the Cape Foulwind walkway.I would recommend this accomodation as a great choice for either a relaxing solo getaway or a romantic couple's retreat.

Our host was great, good email comunication with lots of information and a friendly in person welcome. The wee hut was lovely, very well equipped for such a small space with lots of attention to detail. the raised bed with mountain views was a very nice touch, with good solid steps to climb up and down.

Nice, relaxing get away in a remote area, definitely recommend to couples wanting to get away for a nice tranquil escape surrounded in flora, no service/screen's holiday, highly recommend.

Super well stocked off grid cabin, overlooking a valley. Hammocks and bbq on deck with lots of cooking supplies. Cabin is beautifully decorated with books and games. Trails down to the river and a beautiful look out spot! Sunset - gorgeous! Really loved it! Host warm and friendly and has a home close by. One of my favorite stays on the South Island!

Exactly as presented, spotlessly clean and a wonderful place to stay. Wonderful hosts, the property was easy to find and peaceful place to sleep. Every need was met, including a surprising box full of spices, oil, and vinegars (and every type pots and pans) to cook up a storm on the bbq and whatever foods you can easily buy 15 minutes away in Westport. No problems with mozzies or sand flies at all, DEET spray does wonders. It is a pity we had to move on to the next stay quickly due to a family calendar, the area has a lot to see and hopefully we will be back soon and spend more time. Best wishes dear hosts, and please give a pat to those gentle dogs that kept checking we were OK while the bbq was cooking :)

In the bush

Pretty much just as described. I was a bit disappointed that the trail to the stream sounded a little too rough to navigate. I guess there was a rainfall a few days earlier and she recommended not doing it. I was hoping for more of a view from the mountain hut but you did have a near view of the bush. The manager/owner was very informative and present. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom and shower was clean and functional and only about 20 yards away.

Totally awesome place would go back in a heart beat we had a great time as there is plenty to do in that area. Just one thing, take plenty of mosquito repellent as you will need it. However apart from that this place has everything you will ever need so we would highly recommend a stay their.

Amazing off grid but comfortable stay

A very well made and looked after cabin in the middle of the bush, with everything you need! We had a very comfortable stay and loved the bushwalk down to the river. Very friendly hosts and sweet doggies too! We’ll definitely come back (and will bring more mozzie/sandfly repellent!)
