The Space:

A first-floor studio at Grand Lodge Crested Butte built for two adults (and a dog) or a family of four with the Murphy bed down. The whole studio shares one open room with a bay window facing the courtyard.

➔ King Bed

Anchored against the wall with a mountain print above and bedside lamps. Room-darkening shades keep the morning sun out for sleeping in after a powder day.

➔ King Murphy Bed

Folds down from the wood-paneled wall to add a second king when you need to sleep four. Closed during the day, it reads as built-in cabinetry.

➔ Mini Kitchenette

Single induction burner, microwave, mini fridge, dishwasher, sink, and Keurig. Sized for breakfast, après-ski snacks, and reheating Elk Ave leftovers.

➔ Bathroom

Tub-shower, granite vanity, stocked towels, hair dryer.

➔ Sitting + Dining

Two armchairs and a small round dining table for two; flat-screen TV on the dresser opposite the bed.

✔ Ceiling fan and room-darkening shades

✔ Free Wi-Fi throughout the building

✔ 1st-floor unit — no stairs or elevators with luggage and ski gear

✔ Pet-friendly: 2 dogs max ($50 fee)

Studio sleeps 4

- 1 King bed

- 1 King Murphy bed (folds down from wall)

1 full bathroom (tub-shower)

Guest Access:

You have private access to the studio (Unit 120) and full guest access to the Grand Lodge amenities: indoor/outdoor heated pool, outdoor hot tub, steam room, fitness center, lobby and great room with stone fireplace, on-site ski storage at Butte & Co., and free outdoor parking with EV charging (one parking pass per booking).

The Grand Lodge amenities are managed by the building's HOA, not by Traverse. They are typically open year-round, but the building can close them for maintenance or events without notice. We do not offer refunds for short-term amenity closures since they are outside our control.

Self check-in by keypad — arrive any time after 4 PM. Check-out is 10 AM.

The Neighborhood:

Mt. Crested Butte is a small ski village built around the resort base, three miles north of the historic town of Crested Butte. The Grand Lodge sits at the base of Crested Butte Mountain Resort, with the Red Lady Express lift, ski school, restaurants, and shops a short walk from the front door.

✔ Red Lady Express lift base — ~5-min walk

✔ Mt. CB village dining (Public House, Butte Bagels, Avalanche Bar) — 5–8 min walk

✔ Butte & Co. Ski Rental & Storage — same building complex

✔ Free Mountain Express shuttle to downtown Crested Butte — stops steps from the door

✔ Crested Butte Nordic trails and Snodgrass hiking trailhead — 5–8 min drive

In summer and fall the Red Lady Express runs for hikers and bikers, wildflowers fill the meadows around Snodgrass and Washington Gulch, and downtown Crested Butte hosts art galleries, breweries, and the Saturday farmers market on Elk Avenue.

Getting Around:

Most guests bring a car for trailhead access, side trips to Monarch, and groceries at Clark's Market in CB town. The Grand Lodge has a free outdoor lot (one parking pass per booking) with EV charging.

A car-free trip is possible: fly into Gunnison, take Alpine Express to Mt. Crested Butte, and use the free Mountain Express shuttle for everything in town and downtown CB.

✔ Free outdoor parking, 1 pass per booking, EV charging on-site

✔ Free Mountain Express shuttle, ~15-min frequency, stops steps from the door

✔ Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC) — ~35–45 min drive

✔ Denver International (DEN) — ~4.5 hr drive

Other Things to Note:

✔ License # 304340

✔ No A/C — Mt. Crested Butte sits at 9,375 ft and rarely needs cooling; heat and ceiling fan provided.

✔ Pet policy — Up to 2 dogs welcome, $50 pet fee per stay. Please clean up after your dog around the building.

✔ Mini kitchen, not a full kitchen — single induction burner, microwave, dishwasher, mini fridge, Keurig. Built for breakfast and snacks.

✔ Linen service — No daily housekeeping. Mid-stay turnover available with 2+ days' notice for $100.

✔ Older building — Grand Lodge interiors show some age (textured ceilings, vintage millwork). Clean and well-maintained but not a new build.

✔ HOA-managed amenities — Pool, hot tub, gym, and steam room are HOA-controlled. Occasional maintenance closures are not refundable.

✔ Altitude — At 9,375 ft, drink extra water and pace yourself the first day.

Interaction with Guests:

We're a small, professional Crested Butte property management team. Self check-in by keypad means you can arrive any time after 4 PM without coordinating with us, and we're available by message for the duration of your stay if anything comes up — broken appliance, lost keypad code, restaurant recommendation, lift status. We respond fastest by message or text.

We don't drop in unannounced. The Grand Lodge HOA handles building amenities and common areas; we handle the studio.

The room was very nice. It was hard to navigate through everything in the guide to finally find the exterior door code under the pool tab. It would be nice to have that in check-in info. Very dog friendly facility was a huge plus!

Thanks for the feedback—really glad you liked the room and that the dog-friendly setup was a plus! We put the pool code under the guide section instead of the check-in info, just so it doesn’t get confused with the unit door code. But totally get how that could be tricky to find, and we’ll see if there’s a clearer way to lay it out.

Great little place!

Great place for the price and very comfortable beds! We went for Fall Break so a lot of restaurants were closed but Gunnison is just 30 minutes away. We would recommend this place for 4 or less people as it gets a bit crowded with both beds (one is a murphy bed) but it was perfect for what we wanted. Thank you!

Grand Weekend

Decent property but it was an overall crowded weekend and hot tubs were too full. The cafe staff is rude but the ski valet, Ignacio was wonderful. Rooms need cream and sugar for coffee station. Good TV choices since we stayed in at night. Beds VERY comfy.

Hi Ellen, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us! We're glad to hear you enjoyed the comfort of our beds and had some fun watching TV. We are sorry the hot tubs were so busy when you were there! We will gladly let the hotel know about your negative experience with their staff at the cafe, and will make sure to compliment the ski valet service. The coffee maker information in your boarding pass does specifically clarify that we do not provide creamer and sugar, but we appreciate the suggestion. We appreciate your review and hope to welcome you back on a less-busy weekend!

Gross College Party at The Grand Lodge

The Studio itself was nice and clean and had everything we needed. However, the Grand Lodge staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, and the pool and hot tub were closed when we arrived because they had been trashed by college students treating the Grand Lodge like their personal Christmas Break party. The pool was my main reason for booking as my daughter loves to swim and she was very disappointed it was closed. There was a used toilet brush sitting in the hallway that my 4-year-old picked up before I could stop her. There was a partial joint and lots of trash around the pool and hot tub when it finally was available the next morning, and not completely packed with college kids getting trashed. When my daughter and I tried to use the steam room, a hammered girl came in, fell on the floor, and stood there bleeding everywhere. The staff did nothing about trying to keep the college kids in check, and we were up all night with drunk people loudly talking in the hallway. I would not recommend booking this place during any kind of holiday break if you want to enjoy it with your family.

Hi Katherine, We want to sincerely apologize for the disappointing experience you had during your stay at the Grand Lodge. Your feedback is important to us, and we take it seriously. We unfortunately don't have control over the amenities at the building or the people who stay there, but we passed on your review to the building managers. They acknowledged the tough weekend with the larger groups of college-aged guests. They told us that they are not going to allow college groups to book at Grand Lodge unless it is outside of resort operations dates. They say they are taking this seriously for the future and thanked us for our feedback to them.
