If we could give this a higher rating we would. This is the place that you’ll want to return to time and time again. It’s well remodeled, has been beautifully decorated, and well appointed. It is by far the best home that we have rented in Highlands. You should rent this now! We will!

A very clean and well-equipped rental with super comfortable beds that has one unfortunate downside: Noise. Prospective renters should be aware that the property is situated in the middle of some heavy home construction immediately close behind and, a bit further away, in front of the property. Sadly, this stereo-like racket made the lovely outdoor area unusable for about 10 hours per day unless you could cope with jack-hammering, cement mixers, back up beeping hoes, etc. Soon, there will be hammering. The noise began shortly after 7 AM and went as long as 6 PM, even on weekends. I feel badly for the home-owners because they have tried to make the home so welcoming and, in most cases, they have succeeded. However, due to the noise, it did not make for an enjoyable 3 week rental. Until the construction is past and that may be quite a while, I would ask for a significant discount or bring noise canceling headphones. Otherwise, it's a wonderful location close to town (not safely walkable) with a lot going for it.

We’re glad to hear that you found the home clean, well-equipped, comfortable, and conveniently located, and we’re sorry that the unexpected construction noise affected your three-week stay. Because the construction noise didn’t begin until a couple of days into your stay, we were unaware and were therefore unable to communicate that prior to your stay. Construction in Highlands is limited to the hours of Monday through Friday, 7:30 am – 6:00 pm, with no construction on Saturday or Sunday. We certainly understand how disappointing it was to have the outdoor spaces affected during your stay, particularly when you were visiting for an extended period. Once we understood the extent of the disruption, we worked with you to find a solution, including offering the option to end your stay early with a refund and ultimately providing a partial refund. We appreciate your kind comments about the home and your understanding of the homeowners’ efforts to create a welcoming space, and we hope we’ll have the opportunity to provide you with a quieter Highlands experience in the future. This a delightful little cabin that is well equipped and as advertised. We had planned to cook in-house on our first night but the oven was filthy, with a pool of semi liquid grease at the bottom and generally dirty. We microwaved instead! I sent a note on the VRBO communication text line and did not receive an acknowledgement of the problem. I did tell them that we did not plan to cook again over the weekend but was surprised at the lack of response. Other than that, we really enjoyed the weekend there and would stay there again in the future.
