Great location on South Shore of Kauai. Easy to get to Lihue and Waimea. The view outside the lanai was what sold us and we had coffee, breakfast, and whatever other meals we had on it. Due to its orientation it never got direct sun in the summer helping keep the place cool (no A/C) with the help of fans. Beds very comfortable and the use of the beach chairs and umbrella was much appreciated!

Great location with ocean views. Conviently located next to baby beach and the cove. The cove has some of the best snorkeling in the island. It is also called koloa landing and you can enter from the boat dock or where the divers get in. Most units do not have AC so it does get really hot during the summer.

Pool and hot tub are quiet and peaceful at all times of day. Easy walk to a nice calm beach. Lots of supplies in the condo for beach enjoyment. Close to restaurants and shops (with a car, you could walk if you’re not in a hurry). Kauai is just the best obviously and this is a good place from which to explore the south/west sites.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at Whaler's Cove #113 as 2 couples who choose a trip every year together. This unit was a great fit for our Kauai vacation! We enjoyed every morning on the patio overlooking the ocean drinking Mimosas and eating breakfast. The view is spectacular and even if it rains the patio is covered. We could walk everyday to Lawa'i Beach next to Beach House Restaurant. Easy access down 4-5 stairs to the unit. The manager was in contact with us through our stay and welcomed us with fresh flowers. The pool is amazing and so is the view! We would highly recommend this unit to others and hope to return soon!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Property was more than acceptable. The proximity to the ocean was amazing. Unfotunately we were in Kauai with no trade winds and ninety degree temps. At some point I think air conditioning should some how be added to the condo, at least in the bedrooms. Not the fault of the property management but the unit was warm. Portable fans should be updated, and with the new carpeting, the vertical blinds in the master bedroom offered little privacy.

We agree that air conditioning would be a nice addition but at this time the Home Owners Association does not allow it anywhere on property. We have recently updated the portable fans and adjusted the vertical blinds to give privacy. We look forward to hosting you again in the future!

heavenly retreat

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A wonderful get a way in a tranquil/private wonderland. The home is very comfortable. The deck is private and has a direct ocean view. There is a grassy area in front of the deck that leads to a magical pool area that was never crowded! It is central to everything but is tucked away in a private neighorhood. The only down side is there is no central air conditioning and although the trade winds blow through the grassy area it never reaches the inside of the condo. The fans in this unit were rusty/dusty and one just needed to be thrown away. I'm sure the agency will take care of it.

Great location with amazing views, no AC

Overall this is a great location in Poipu. The lanai is beautiful and creates a perfect place to watch sunset, sunrise and the ocean. The condo is spacious with many great amenities. Highly recommend but be aware of the below before you book: 1. This condo does not have air conditioning. We missed this in the listing and the reviews didn’t mention. Not a huge issue if you are used to sleeping in 75-80 degree rooms. During the day the condo was very warm. There are several fans but we found ourselves still warm. Sleeping was tough and being on the first floor, we did not feel comfortable leaving the patio doors open at night. I would guess the rooms were 75-80 degrees each night. 2. There is quite a bit of construction at the moment. We were made aware that the pool was being resurfaced during our stay and prepared for that. However, we did not know that many of the condos are having windows replaced and possibly other repairs. They actually replaced the windows in our condo during our stay and we were not told. Not sure if they entered our condo or replaced them from the outside, but would have liked to be notified beforehand. This also left a strong caulk/paint smell in the condo. Make no mistake, the condo is great and the location is wonderful. Just a few minor hiccups that made it less than 5 star for us.

Aloha Matt, We apologize for the inconveniences with both the pool and window work during your stay with us. As an independent Property Manager who represents unit #113, we were told the window work would commence in October, not September. The onsite management office and HOA moved the set schedule around due to "weather" and we had no control over the situation and found out the same time you did once you arrived on property. All window work was done from the outside and we were given less than 24 hours notice once they decided to start. All properties under our management that have AC mention it in the property description or amenities and all Whalers Cove units do not allow for AC per HOA mandate. It is unfortunate you felt uncomfortable leaving the patio doors open at night as that is the the best way for airflow to be created from the guest bedroom windows to the patio doors on the opposite side. The natural flow of the islands almost constant "trade winds" have kept the unit at an acceptable temperature for our guests over the years. After 20 years of managing this property we have never had a break in or security issue due to the locations privacy and security as you cannot get to the back of any unit without going through a locked gate at the pool. For any future guest reading this all pool and window work has been completed and should not impact your stay with us at unit #113. Mahalo! Garden Island Rentals

Unit 113 is a charming, unassuming unit with a wonderful lanai from which to listen to the crashing waves and watch the wildlife. The beautiful azure pool and surrounding deck at the point of the property allowed for turtle watching, sunning and quick dips to cool off. What a wonderful stay. We look forward to returning.

You couldn't ask for a more stunning setting. The condo we stayed in was comfortable, clean, with pretty much everything we needed during our stay. Being able to walk out the back sliding door in the morning, sit on the lanai and experience such a beautiful place was incredible.
