The most charming cottage in an ideal location, with stunning views all around. The host puts so much thought into the experience, providing special places for guests to leave notes and preserve memories and keepsakes from their stay.

The house was exactly what it was advertised! There were four of us and my son's 1 year old. The location was awesome and the house was well stocked. We would definitely stay there again!

I have never written bad review for a vacation stay as they have always lived up to descriptions amenities etc. This property would be OK value at half of price the location is excellent but house is seriously run down dirty in places and shower so small u can hardly turn around in it-literally. Bring ur sheets towels cause they don’t provide them-which they do tell u in description-add kayaks with no paddles no bikes no paddle boards and locked up game room and u might as well bring ur RV at least u might have a few options. We love Avon and OBX and live close enough that we go several times a year have friends that live in Avon. Would be hard to recommend this place as there are much better options available. Disappointing that I am writing a bad review for this place but spend ur money elsewhere.

I am sorry the cottage did not live up to your expectations, however, our description is a fair representation of what we offer. We encourage renters to bring their own bikes, paddle boards and kayaks-nowhere in our description do we say those items are available for use. Regarding cleanliness, we have only once received a complaint regarding cleanliness in the four years we’ve been renting the cottage (before this review). If you found the place dirty upon arrival, we encourage you to let us know-our cleaners would have returned and fixed it for you. We do not have a game room, nor do we mention one in our amenities. Again, I’m sorry you were so disappointed, hopefully, in the future you can find what you are looking for elsewhere.

Weekend getaway

This was our first time staying in the Hatteras area and it was really nice. The house was in a nice secluded neighborhood with friendly dogs and people. The owners were super nice and very hospitable. We would definitely stay here again.

Property is in a nice quiet neighborhood and the location on a canal is amazing. The kitchen has everything you need to cook or bake anything. The host is very responsive and the check in was easy and efficient.

Amazing Beach House away from Home!

This beach house/cottage was the perfect home away from home. It's only minutes away from Avon Pier and lots of Seafood Restaurants nearby. Also, it has access to water for sporting activities like kayaking and paddle boarding. Additionally, the property owner, Michelle, was always very responsive to all my questions. Would definitely stay again in the future.

Amazing Location and Exceptionally Clean

My family stayed in the Freckled Dog for a few days and can't compliment this location enough. The house was exceptionally clean and well-stocked. The screened in porched overlooking the canal was beautiful, and the room sizes were perfect. In addition, communication with the host was very timely and she answered any questions we had. We will be back!

Amazing stay at the Freckled Dog

We enjoyed our stay at the Freckled Dog so much! There were so many cute touches with the place like making your own ornament, to games, to a bunch of welcome items upon arrival. The cottage was clean, and everything looked exactly like it did in the pictures. Michelle was a great host and so easy to connect with! I would definitely stay here again.

Great Stay In Avon

Beautiful property and home!! Very welcoming! Clean, comfortable and cozy. Nice, quiet neighborhood, but still close to everything. Michelle was always responsive and very helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

Very clean. Very comfortable. Very well stocked. Great outdoor spaces with lovely view. Great character in decor. Owner manages the property rather than using property management company. Very responsive. Very accommodating.

Wonderful host, clean cottage across from sound

Very nice and clean cottage. Many extras such as gifts for us on arrival, Christmas ornaments to make at the beach, and beautiful sunsets across the street. Host was very responsive with questions and extremely helpful.
