WOW!! What an amazing place! As others have said, the home was beautiful and the host’s attention to detail was perfect. We had everything we needed and more. The property was like living in the middle of a rainforest but we had zero issues with bugs. The home was immaculately kept and clean. Being able to open all the patio doors really gave you the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. The location was set in a quiet neighborhood but downtown Hilo was only a 10 minute drive. We loved it and would definitely return. Highly recommended!!

Perfect Rain Forest Escape

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This home was just as shown in the listing. The garden was better than expected. Beautifully landscaped, with lots of lighting at night. The coqui frogs serenaded us in the night time rains. There were many appliances and tech features. Any questions were answered immediately. This was a perfect place to relax with serenity after a long day sightseeing.

Lava Rock Retreat is a very cool property, modern & stylish with a touch of tech. The grounds are simply amazing with all sorts of plants and flowers, hot tub, outdoor showers and lighting. The house was clean and had everything you need for cooking and great coffee making. I would highly recommend this spot for your stay in Hilo.

The property was stunning. I read reviews previously that stated how the host thought of everything, and they truly did. The outdoor space, the huge doors, makes you feel like you're part of the jungle but with luxury and hi-tech upgrades.

This house is BEYOND amazing. I've never stayed in a rental home that was so meticulously maintained - everything was gorgeous and high-end. We were unsure about renting a place in July with no air conditioning, but it actually just added to the experience to have the warmth and hear the birds and critters from the outside. Speaking of critters, we were introduced to the "coqui" frogs on the island - loud little guys, but super cute. Bring your earplugs at nighttime if repetitive sounds keep you awake. The backyard lights up in the evening (this house is a smart home with awesome features like cove lighting and backyard illumination) and truly makes you feel like you're in your own little rain forest.

The coquis can be jarring for some at first... but if you come to visit another time or two, you might find yourself recording their song to take home and play on loop while you sleep. I get this request from previous guests fairly often (^o^) But the house does provide ear plugs for guests who find them a bit much. The house and amenities were exceptional. I didn’t realize the owner was staying on property in a different home, however, they were lovely to interact with. The home is tech-heavy while being immersed in nature and the landscape around it. We would stay here again.

The owner has thought of everything you could ever want in a VRBO. Large sliding glass doors in the main living area look into lush plants and trees- the beauty of that side of Hawaii.Gorgeous kitchen with quite a few small appliances i.e.3 different ways to make coffee. Beautiful bathrooms must be new.Thank you owner and manager!

This is your spa house! Second time staying

Absolutely loved this place, this was our second year staying there and it's such a relaxing place to be. Hilo is truly amazing and beautiful and this place lets you soak it all in. Smart home is awesome the hot tub the outdoor showers the backyard the lighting is relaxing. The managers and the owners are great!

Unique Vacation stay- in a great way!

House was very clean and cool. Super private backyard and loved the outdoor showers. Convenient location for us and everything we wanted to do. If staying here you must have a car to get to and from. Would definitely stay here again!

This property is beyond wonderful. Every convenience imaginable is provided. We loved the feel of being in our own private rain forest. I would highly recommend this property when visiting the island. We hope to return and enjoy it again!

Relaxing getaway

We had a fantastic stay at the Lava Rock Retreat. The house was exactly what we expected and was a nice relaxing getaway after the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. The backyard and grounds were peaceful and we loved enjoying our morning coffee on the lanai. Thank you for sharing your amazing home with us.

A relaxing get away

This rental was one of the best I stayed at! It was so peaceful and well thought out! The jungle is literally in your back yard. It was the longest I stayed inside my rental on vacation since it was so relaxing! The jacuzzi was the cherry on top!
