We had a wonderful weekend stay at this cabin. Beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. We all slept very well! Communication was wonderful. Power went out while we were there due to heavy rains. The owner contacted us immediately and kept us updated as to the repair status. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again.

We had a great stay here with our colleges aged boys and our dogs! Plenty of space with bedrooms and good sized bed options for all of us! Kitchen and dining and room being open made game playing and food/drink access easy! WiFi worked well, and we were able to stream our college football games. The local gem mine was a fun experience! Close to grocery store and not too far from the hiking trails! Outside spaces were well kept and host was responsive. Check in/out process here was super easy! We had a good weekend here!

Many good things here - the kitchen was very nice, beds were very comfortable, and the house was spotlessly clean. There is an air mattress not futon in the office area which is really a closet off master with a window. There is a nice deck and firepit but access from house to deck is a little unusual as it is through a bathroom. I stay3d here for 5 nights with family and friends and enjoyed our stay.

Great location

Very clean and lots of room, very quiet and peaceful, private, everything you need for cooking. Host Tanya was very responsive and Richard was great. Can’t wait to come back in the spring. Thanks for a great stay.

Two Night Stay

We rented this property for a visiting band to stay in and they loved it! The only issue was access to the property with a steep gravel road. Tanya is a fantastic, communicative, and welcoming host!

The house was very clean. Well thought out. Our whole family really felt comfortable there. We all loved the house. Beds where very comfortable, the sheets where the best, top notch for sure. Wonderful house to have a family gathering, large rooms, with good space inside and outside as well. Kitchen was well stocked. Loved the veiws from the kitchen. Very quiet and peaceful. Wonderful place. Thank you very much for sharing, from the whole family

Amazing tranquil country home

I just can’t say enough about this property and the manager. Perfect place with plenty of room for our family. Very secluded and peaceful. Everything you could need for a long or quick get away. We will definitely be back. Tanya was so nice and helpful and very quick to respond. Absolutely wonderful place to stay.

Loved the place

Wish we had more time there. Was a great fit for 6 adults and 4 kids 4-11 and an 11 month old. Kitchen was big enough to cook although we only did breakfast. I like it when you go somewhere and there are some staples there. The kids enjoyed the net pillow swings outside and if we had been there longer we would have made a fire outside. Would be great to go back and enjoy the outdoors.

Love, Love, Love

We had a wonderful time. Tanya was so great. Easy to communicate with. We were so grateful to have our time here. Best place for our dogs. She even had sheets to cover furniture so that our fur babies felt at home being with us on the couch & bed. The view was beautiful!!! Had a wonderful time and it it so nice when the host is an wonderful as Tanya.

Perfect fall weekend

My family enjoyed time at the fire pit swings. You could see the stars listen to the night sounds. Lovely. The back porch had a big dining table we all gathered around. Property was clean. Lots of amenities. The only 4 star i gave was on property description: there was not an office with a sofa bed. We will definitely stay here again.

I've updated the listing, there was no way to explain the other optional sleeping area available, which is a blow up qieen mattress that can be set up in the master closet or elsewhere. But I've corrected it as best as parameters permit here, plus have added a desk in there.

Family Vacation 2024

We have been coming to Sheffield Mine since 2005 and love staying in the Cowee Valley area. This is the first opportunity we have had to stay at Ruby Gem Cabin. It definitely checked all the boxes we look for when booking a vacation rental. King size bed, central a/c, WiFi, peaceful location. Tanya is an amazing host and her cabin is one of those places you hesitate to tell others just how good it is for fear it will be fully booked when you want to come back. Ruby was the best stocked cabin we have stayed in and even had a highchair for our grandbaby. I’ve already emailed to get details on the king mattress as we slept soundly through the night all week, something that doesn’t happen at home with our Tempur-Pedic. Tanya has a gift with interior design and Ruby reflects that. We will definitely return in the future.
