Very Disappointing StayThis was our annual family vacation, and after spending hours researching, we chose Oak Island for our first NC beach trip and SandBox because it appeared to be the perfect home for our 10 adults and 4 children. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. We paid for early check-in, only to arrive to a home that was 85 degrees inside with no working AC. The mini AC units were completely inadequate for a home this size. HVAC service did not arrive until around 5 p.m., determined there was an electrical issue, and an electrician was then needed. The outdoor grill was filthy, heavily rusted, clogged with food buildup, and had trash—including beer cans—under and behind it. It was unusable. We also experienced several cleanliness and maintenance issues: sand and sticky floors, dirty tubs, rusty knives, dishes with dried food/coffee residue, a refrigerator that smelled strongly of fish, an extremely dirty oven, partially detached bedroom curtains, and stained pillows/cushions. Several bathrooms had little or no starter toilet paper. The home itself is beautiful and has great potential, but significant improvements are
