Paradise

The beach on this island truly is one of the most beautiful beaches on earth. The swimming and beach walks there are world-class. The house was spotlessly clean and comfortable in all ways. The caretaker was friendly and always available to answer our questions. It was altogether a great vacation. Would give six stars if I could.

Amazing views

Norman is an amazing property manager, location is great if you have a boat or just plan on relaxing on the beach. Lots to do in the area for swimming snorkeling etc. Could use some updating, sharp utensils and maybe a 4 slice toaster. We had lots of water and the trails are amazing through the property. 1 of the best views at the top of the hill.

Great Week

An unbelievable experience. The island property is so unique in that it sits with views of the harbor but you have full beach access only a couple minutes walk. You're only a 10 min boat ride to Georgetown but can enjoy your privacy as well. We were there to spearfish and the dock facility at the house for our rented boat was great. Norman, the property manager was very helpful. The house was a bit rustic but comfortably met all our needs. Can't recommend Keavli house enough.

We were truly looking forward to the stay on Stocking Island but in the end it was not for us.We were grateful for Allison and Norman’s responsiveness and kindness throughout and when we decided to leave early, Allison handled it with integrity; The location is somewhat isolated with access to food, beaches, and activities that depend on coordinating a water taxi (50 RT) from Great Exuma or renting a skiff at 300/day. The taxi does not run on a set schedule and stops at dark, which made meals and daily logistics a bit complicated. (kayaking might be an option but it was a chilly/rough seas during our stay). We rented a skiff for a day (loved Minn’s), the highlight of our trip, but at least for us, consistent boat access is essential to fully enjoy this location. The open windows, harbor views, covered deck, and fresh breeze were lovely. However, the cabin itself is weathered and in need of maintenance and updates; which I was told is in process. You can walk to the beautiful and wild Atlantic side, watch the sunsets from the covered decks, and there is a hiking trail to Coconut Club for a lovely day by the Caribbean. Beyond that, beach access is limited without a boat.In the end, we found ourselves spending more time coordinating transportation and meals than relaxing, which led us to shorten our stay. This property may be a great fit for travelers seeking true remoteness, boat-based access, and a true cabin by the harbor feel.

Simply Magical Experience

We just returned from a fantastic stay at Kevali House. My wife and four children (ages 11-18) stayed in the guest cottage: 3 bedroom/2 bathrooms. Stocking Island is a remote paradise 1.5 miles from Exuma. The property is gorgeous. The guest cottage sits just above the water level on a quiet cove. A 0.1 mile sand path leads to the back side of Stocking where unspoiled beaches await you. The cottage has the feel of a rustic cabin, off-the-grid. Great outdoor space with screened in porches that wrap around the house. There are no cars, no roads, and no people. Pictures FAIL to highlight the beautiful setting. There are no stores on the island. It is necessary to take a boat to the grocery store on Exuma; this was all explained to us in advance and we loved the adventure. Kayaks were available for use; we were out there every day. Norman, the property's caretaker, was very friendly and super helpful. We rented a boat for two days and docked it at Kevali. We highly recommend this eco-friendly spot. Great family memories!

Secluded and relaxing with many things to do if you wish

My husband and I spent three nights at Atlantis before traveling to Stocking Island. What a different experience! The flight to Exuma airport and taxi to Georgetown are easy. We stopped at Exuma Market for groceries and a nearby liquor store before making the trip to Stocking Island. I highly recommend doing this. The water taxi service is easy from Government Dock (we were there around 11AM), and our driver had no issue locating Kevalli House. The manager Norman met us and was very helpful throughout our stay. The island is peaceful and very secluded. There are other guests and people docked in the harbour, but the beach was often "just ours". This isn't a luxury property, but the house is unique and impressive. Two king beds and very comfortable sheets and pillows were a treat. There are also two bathrooms and two additional twin beds. We made several meals ourselves on the outdoor grill (screened in porch is great at night due to mosquitoes). Things to do: relax on your porch which is harbour side (sunset side). 5 minute walk to the Atlantic beach side (images of the ocean are 5 min walk away, images of harbour are right off your house). It was VERY windy during our stay, so we found the beach better than the gazebo which was just a wind tunnel. Bring flashlights if you want to check out the ocean at night (stars everywhere!) Get a hiking map from Georgetown or download. Paths are semi-marked but I'd label them as a more adventurous hike versus easy. Kevalli House provides kayaks, snorkel gear, and flippers. The Blue Hole is right off the house (people come from all over for this, so it was very cool to have right by us). Norman can take you into town if you want to book any other tours/trips or rent a boat from Minns. Everyone is very helpful, so don't let the boat ride to and from Georgetown keep you from booking this place! Meals out: Sunset kept us eating a bit earlier than usual. We went to the Pig Roast at Chat N Chill. This is a kayak ride away or a hike. BLU at Lumina Point is also a kayak ride away or a longer hike down the beach and past the mangroves. We opted for a late lunch - open 11AM-4PM and then reopens at 6PM for dinner.

Awesome

Had a great time, super relaxing and just beautiful. Bonus was that the house had an extra bedroom and bathroom than what was listed. If you're looking for total tranquility, this is the house for you.

Adventure Island

My family is very active and we enjoy arduous hikes, solitude, and peace on our trips. Stocking Island gave us the right blend of peace and effort, with many miles of trails and a long walk or kayak to find food. For me, it is perfect. Bob and his family are terriffic hosts.

A truly beautiful and peaceful place

My husband and I stayed at one of the cottages for about 10 days. We instantly fell in love with the place. The cottage made us feel right at home, we loved the interior with its warm colours and all the open, mosquito-screened windows that let in the breeze. We enjoyed our breakfast on the outside patio every morning and the upstairs air deck for a great view over the harbour and towards the ocean. This is truly a magic place. It's hard to decide which spot is nicer to relax with a good book: the patio, the deck in front of the cottage, the gazebo on top of the little hill or the beach. There are so many beautiful spots to choose from. The beautiful beach also invites to long walks during which you barely meet another soul. We didn't go snorkelling, but there are numerous places close by. Or simply watch the wildlife from alongside the dock. We were amazed by the fact that the whole place gets its electricity from solar panels only and that the water comes out of cisterns that collect rain water. Truly makes you feel good about yourself. Bob and Catherine made us feel so welcome, we cannot wait to be back. If you are looking for a truly beautiful spot, this is it.

Perfect place for a family reunion

To have my family together for an Exuma Christmas is a special experience in itself but this years stay at Stocking Island's Kevalli House Cottage has certainly taken our vacation to another level. We (8) stayed in both living areas and the 2 bedroom cottage is a perfect complement to the 2 large suites that make up the main complex. The cottage has a full kitchen with a very comfortable living room, 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom accommodating a young family (2 adults, 2 children) very easily. The front of the house is surrounded by a shady screened porch for day or night time lounging and dining. Off of this porch is an outdoor deck over looking the harbor, perfect for sunbathing. This large, well maintained property allows privacy for everyone when needed and a variety of common areas for getting together. A two minute walk will take you to one of two pavilions overlooking as beautiful an ocean beach as you will find anywhere. Great for all beach lovers with activities for young and old. Nice all the way around. Take a short kayak paddle to KB's Chat and Chill for authentic Exuma/Bahamas cuisine as well as AJ's conch shack down the beach with his delicious, made to order, conch salad. This exquisite, unique location is not for those who cannot entertain themselves but for those who are interested in separating themselves to a spectacular part of the world and have their r expectations exceeded.

As good as it gets!

My wife and I (age 63/62) spent two absolutelys wonderful weeks in the guesthouse. We have the past 10 years always left the Danish winter (- 18 C) to enjoy warmth and blue skies in January. We have been to Tortola, Mauritius, The Maldives, Zanzibar and other places, but never found anything quite like Stocking Island. Beautiful 3-5 mile long white beaches at one side of the house. We met only 2 or 3 people in 2 weeks, wonderful for bodysurfing. And at the other side, right in front, a calm and deepblue lagune with beautiful snorkeling spots. The house is charming with a wonderful atmosphere and ambiance. Lovely materials and good taste. Not a light in the night (except for stars and many shooting stars on the beach when walking after dark). During daytime take the kayak 10 minutes out to Chat 'n Chill and enjoy a bbq, if so inclined, or a conch-salad at St. Frances just around the corner (in kayak). 15 minutes walk til Queens dock across the island for a snack and beer. Call Elvis for a pick up if you want to go to George Town for groceries. 12 USD return. But first of all enjoy a quiet rest in the hammock, protected by a well thought-throug mosquitonet sorrounding the outdoor area, except the terrace facing Hole Three as the lagune is called because of the blue hole in the middle and in swimming distance of your next beachhouse rental. Do it, and you won't regret it for a minute! We shall be coming back again and again! It is difficult to find good flour if you like to bake your own bread, so bring that and fresh yeast! That is the only criticism we could really find. Thanks to Catherine and Bob we got a lot of useful info and help along the way not least about the Stromatolites. But all in a nice, polite and discreet fashion. Make your reservation now! You will enjoy it just as much as we did! BoJo
