Emily, we’re sorry the nearby construction affected what your family had hoped would be a quiet getaway. We do want to provide some important context for future guests. The construction was taking place on a separate property within the community, not at Mainely Bliss, and was not a project we controlled or had been notified about. Prior guests had not raised this level of construction activity with us either, so we were unaware of the extent of the disruption until your group brought it to our attention on the final day of your stay. Once we learned about it, we immediately took the steps available to us, including reaching out directly to the builder and asking them to adjust their construction hours. Although this was not work occurring on our property, we still made every reasonable effort available to us to help address the situation. The timing is important because concerns like this are much easier for us to meaningfully address when they are brought to our attention early in a stay. Had we known sooner, we could have intervened with the builder sooner and had more opportunity to try and address the situation. When an issue is first raised on the final day, we will still do everything we can as was noted in the review, but there is less opportunity for those efforts to improve the stay itself. This is why we encourage all guests to let us know as early as possible during their stay if anything is affecting their experience. We also want to clarify that your concerns were not ignored. We reviewed the situation, remained engaged, and made a genuine effort to reach a resolution. While we were ultimately unable to agree on the resolution requested, we did offer what we believed was a fair resolution based on the circumstances. To our knowledge, the specific construction that affected this stay has since concluded. That said, Bethel and the surrounding communities, including ours, will continue to see development. We have added additional disclosure to our listing and guest communications to highlight this important detail. If nearby construction or daytime noise is particularly important to your stay, we encourage you to reach out before booking and we’ll gladly share whatever information is available to us at that time. We also want to clarify the comment regarding the roads. Our driveway itself is paved, while portions of the roads leading through the area and into the community are unpaved and can be uneven. This is a mountain destination, and we recommend an AWD or 4x4 vehicle when possible, particularly when weather or road conditions may be a consideration. We work hard to be transparent, responsive, and fair when concerns arise, including circumstances originating outside of our property and our direct control. We regret that the nearby construction affected your family’s experience, while also wanting future guests reading this review to understand the full context and the steps we took once we were made aware of it.
