Location was amazing, could walk one street over to beach access and the restaurants in IOP were also walking distance. Parking was easy at the house and neighbors were quiet and friendly. Linens were clean and beds were very comfortable. The couch and living area were slightly outdated but didn’t bother us. Outdoor hose/shower area to rinse off after the beach was nice as well. Plenty of dishes for what we needed in the kitchen but definitely bring extra paper towels/toilet paper as we ran out of what was provided by the second day. Overall great spot for the price we paid. We definitely plan to come back!

It wasn’t that clean, kitchen cabinets had food stuck on them. I had to disinfect all the hardwood. It was very hot in the back room area( the addition) also 1 outlet in bedroom in back, couldn’t plug in fan and phone at same time. Very outdated furniture and dirty with holes in fabric. Needs some updating. The screened in porch had ripped screens so you couldn’t get away from the mosquitoes. No lighting outside to see were the steps are if you come in late from a night out. Positive notes are a great location from the beach, a short walk. Also great location to walk to the strip on IOP. In all it was just an okay place which I probably would not stay again.

Good time cozy cottage

We came from Virginia, and Ohio to enjoy Isle of Palms. We were not disappointed. What a lovely little beach town. I didn’t bring a chair. we sure do hate to leave. Thanks for the good time. Thank you to our gracious hosts. We hope to visit again soon.

Everything was awesome, except there is mold growing on the ceiling in the back section of the house, and there was obviously pet dander issues on the living room furniture in the front. Other than that, really good house in a great location.

Perfect Location

This is what a "beach house" is supposed to be: full of character and good vibes. I don't remember other VRBO's and hotels I've stayed in because they didn't have this kind of character. A hotel room is a hotel room is a hotel room. If you want to experience the fantasy of what it's like living close to the beach, this is the VRBO for you. Will definitely stay again.

Great location

Good spot for a weekend getaway. Comfortable and with all the needed amenities. A little dated, but the price was good. Some Palmetto bugs roaming around the house and across the bed while I was dozing off, but I'm guessing that is not uncommon this time of year. Some of the same issues noted in other reviews (mold on rafters couple spots where the flooring is soft). Otherwise, comfortable, and communication with the management company was straight forward and prompt. Would stay again knowing all of the above. Very well located close to coffee spots, good eating options, grocery store, wind jammer, VFW and beach.

Good place, great ocation

The hose was fine but confusing when it came to the lights, ac, and random items. There was noticeable mold growing on the ceiling in the addition in the back of the house and some basic upkeep would be well served. But we did not have any issues with the property. The location is great and easy walk to beach and downtown area.

Perfect for my group

We traveled here for a baseball tournament at the Shipyard. The house is absolutely perfect for the 3 adults and 3 kids. VERY short walk to the beach. The inside of the home is not luxurious but that isn’t our style anyway. It’s very beachy and a great place to stay. The home met our needs for the week. Side note…the listing says there is someone living underneath the property but we only saw him once. It was almost like no one was there at all. No issues whatsoever.

Thank you choosing 809 Carolina. Our pictures show the curtains and window shades in the home. With the home being on the island in the lowcountry, the beach climate is very hot during this season. The owner provides guests darker type shades to avoid direct sunlight and keep to the home cool in the summer, nap time for guests with babies & guests who decide to sleep in. Most homes use shades to maintain a cooler climate during your dates of travel. Please reach out to Carroll Realty for your next island vacation .

Change of scenery

Location and cleanliness were great. We were not expecting 5 star but everything was extra cheap. Especially the mattress, sheets, and pillows. We had to purchase pillows, sheet would not stay on bed and mattress was very average. We also had to purchase a tea pot which is probably gone by now(we left it). Just a lot of little things that are not conducive to comfort which would not cost much at all. There isn't even a place to put silverware after you wash it(no dishwasher). If the owner was to stay there, they would buy that stuff in a minute. Otherwise we were very happy there. Great location and comfortable enough.

Mixed feelings…

The place was clean and had pretty much everything you’d need however the check in process was absolutely terrible and there were a couple issues within the house. There were no keys left for us and the realty company tried to pass this off as our fault. Broken kitchen table chair legs with ragged sharp edges, soft spots in the floor in several places inside and the decking outside.

Mendy, we acknowledged our mistake multiple times and felt terrible for the delayed check-in. When I received your after-hours voicemail, I arrived at the office to provide the keys in under 25 minutes. You had already stated at that time you would definitely leave a bad review due to the error on our part. Your partner however was gracious and told me to not worry; that you had gotten a later start than planned and would have missed your dinner reservations regardless. Despite this, we did offer to supply a monetary gift card so that you could remake your missed dinner reservation, but we never heard back from you to obtain the name of the restaurant. In the meantime, you left this poor review and a 1 star Google review. Your reviews feel retaliatory when we were acting in good faith. During your 2 night stay there was zero mention of any issues with the house. We did inspect the property after your departure and repaired the minor issue with the chair. Again, we are very sorry that the check-in did not go as smoothly as it should have. We will be will switching to a coded door lock soon so this will no longer be an issue. Sadly, during your stay, it never seemed there was anything we could have said or done to make anything better for you. We wish you all the best.

A COVID New Years

Staying during COVID we were expecting to cook for all our meals. The kitchen is tiny and there isn't much work space. Also, there isn't a dishwasher which is fine but the dry rack doesn't have a drip pan under it and so all the dishes drain onto the only worksurface for prepping food. Also, the internet is crap. It doesn't work. All of our devices only connected one time and then it wouldn't connect after the device went to sleep, super frustrating especially when you bring a streaming device to connect to the TV and it only worked once. Another thing is it is a charge if you leave the TV on the wrong source, like what the heck, $$$ to hit a button?!? Absurd! For the price we paid to stay I really would have loved for the internet to actually work. Location was what we were looking for, but the internet didn't work and there isn't a damn switch to find in the addition on the back, no way to turn the lights on.

Hi Jamie - Thank you for the review. I just wanted to clarify a few things for potential future renters: I believe from the pictures you can tell that the kitchen is not super big; we do not advertise a large kitchen area. We also specifically list in our description of the property and in the amenities section that there is no dishwasher because we want all guests to be fully aware of what to expect prior to booking. As far as the charge for the TV input issue - we manage numerous properties and simply just ask the guest to leave the TV on the cable input it was found on as a courtesy so that the next guest (who may or may not know how to work a TV properly if gaming systems or streaming devices were hooked up, especially elderly guests) can hopefully use it with no problem upon their arrival. We have gone into rental homes after guests to find that HDMI cords have been switched around, cable boxes mixed up, and even TVs themselves being moved from one location to another so really it just helps to leave the property as you found it so we don't have to send our maintenance guy to 30-40 properties after every checkout to fix TV issues. I sincerely apologize you had issues with the internet and I wish you had called us while you were there so we could've investigated the issue for you. We've been renting this house for years now and have guests currently in the home as well with no internet issues so I am not sure what the issue was during your stay, but please know in the future we will gladly come take care of any issue promptly when made aware.

Needs some major work.

We came into a soak floor due to a whole in the ceiling. The floors were covered in sand and dirt. The oven was nasty and required cleaning. The whole place stunk of age. The furniture was old but somewhat comfortable. The beds were the only nice thing in the house. The oven only worked if you turned on more than 1 burner at a time. There was no temperature dial on the oven so you had no clue what temp you were cooking at. The microwave worked but you could not see the times you were setting. This is a duplex but the person below us appears to live there full time and snored all night and could be heard as if they were sleeping next to you. The washer and dryer are located in the master bath but they are out of the way and worked great. The location is great. It is just a 2 min walk to the beach that was not at all crowded. As well as a 5 minute walk to the IOP shopping area and restaurants. I personally would not recommend staying at this location until they have done some upgrades in the Kitchen, general maintenance, a deep and thorough cleaning as well as some upgrades to the furnishings. If you choose this location, bring extra bedding if you don't like the cold. There is little to no bedding on the beds and no extra bedding that we could find. You only get 2 towels per room so you can either bring more or use the washer and dryer. There is no dishwasher so bring extra kitchen towels.

Took family for a stay a beach to celebrate granddaughters 2nd bday!! House was not clean, someone was living in bottom of house, a/c did not work, floor was soft like rotted. Extremely disappointing

We are so sorry that you did not experience a pleasant stay. We are very honest and direct about the house being a duplex with a single tenant that lives in the downstairs. This is clearly advertised in the listing description. It is an older style home and the flooring is not modern but it is not rotted - we recently had a contractor at the house and it is just the way the floor has “settled” after years of wear and the humid environment - it is common to see this in older homes. I apologize you thought the home wasn’t clean. We have had the home booked constantly and no one has mentioned anything recently. We would’ve immediately addressed any concerns you had while you were here.

September beach time

We appreciated that the kitchen was adequately stocked for use, the house gave us easy access to the beach, and we slept comfortably in the bedrooms. There was no easy way to rinse off feet or bodies to enter the house from the beach, and this could be easily and inexpensively rectified by installing a new hose with a nozzle. What is there now is leaky, broken and inadequate. We also think that Carroll Realty, or the owners, should replace the rollup bamboo shades that cover most of the windows in the house. They are dirty, broken and largely un-useable, and it makes for a dark house. Our favorite room ended up being the front porch, which is not air conditioned, but which is very light-filled and comfortable to sit in once the windows are open. But these windows also need some TLC, as they are dirty and have broken or missing screens. The grounds were also somewhat littered with cigarette butts. All in all, we found our stay there enjoyable and adequate. The repairs needed are relatively minor but will make a qualitative difference.

Iop stay

The property was filthy, has electrical outlet problems, and did not have the two televisions the write up said. We contacted Carroll Reality about the outlets and they did not acknowledge nor reply to the three messages we left. The person who lives downstairs blocked the only entrance to the sidewalk. He moved his car and golf cart after we complained to the rental agency. We expected cozy and got filthy instead.

Classic Beach House

Exterior looked bad, but interior had classic beach feel. It was clean and well appointed, but kitchen was very small and we missed havining a dishwasher. Bedrooms (all 3) were good size, bathrooms (2) small, but functional. The beach equipment supplied with the rental was excellent, especially the cart, which was necessary given the "fourth row" location.

Great location.... Need to work on privacy

This property is super close to the ocean (a block and a half a way) and within walking distance to restaurants and shops. The main complaint is that the property owner doesn't seem to understand that people are paying to be at the house. We came with our truck and trailer (golf cart on it) and we parked it in the driveway that lead to the backyard (no vehicles back there and no indication stating where to park or not to park) about an hour or so after parking a stranger knocked on out door telling us that he is a family friend and that we have to move our vehicle.... No issue but the next night we looked outside and there was a truck pulled over in the driveway with about 4 or 5 cop cars behind him. Apparently it was the son of the property owners and his friends who were trying to get out of being arrested at about 10 o'clock at night. While accidents happen, one of the individuals renting the room with me walked down to try to make sure everything was OK (we had a 6 year old with us and wanted to make sure it was safe), he was patted down and questioned also-to prove that he had no association with the individuals being arrested. While the trip was generally wonderful having interruptions directly related to the owners were somewhat distasteful.

Location is great, property needs major TLC

Location was fantastic. Property needs a major face-lift . House needs major remodeling work. Air conditioning couldn't keep up. Carroll Realty took care of this by installing a window unit. Cleanliness of property was poor!!

Cozy beach house @ Isle of Palms

My family really enjoyed staying here. My daughters loved riding the bikes to the beach and the Fourth of July parade on our street with all of the golf carts was so cute .

Our visit was good.

There was a toothbrush and toothpaste in the shower, the shower door was/is broken, the a.c. didnt work very good, there was dried up contact lenses on the bed side table so we have to wonder how good it's actually cleaned between people. But it was a cute little home and we really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect, convenient to the beach and shops.
