The property is lovely. It’s a very new renovation of a 200 year old house and the standard of the renovation is very high. The facilities are in excellent condition and it had everything the listing said it would have and more (e.g. milkshake machines).
We were delayed arriving due to the flight and car hire issues, and despite arriving close to midnight we were met by 3 hosts (Gerasimos, Spiros and Janus) who couldn’t have been more helpful. They showed us where everything was and how the electrical items worked (satellite tv, coffee machine, air con, washing machine, dishwasher etc). They had also cooked us dinner and stocked the cupboards and fridge with food supplies and drinks. They’d even provided some beer, wine and ouzo (a nice surprise for after we got the kids to bed).
The facilities were very clean inside and out, and a lovely housekeeping lady came part-way through our trip to clean the whole place again.
You definitely need a car to get to the village and to visit nearby attractions. The local mountain village had tavernas, cafes and 2 small supermarkets, all a few minutes’ walk from the house. It’s a cute little village, people were very friendly to us and especially loved our kids. It was a short drive to a range of beaches, the best close ones with kids were Paramonas (5 mins) and Halikounas (10 mins). We also went to the popular Agios Gordios which was 17 mins’ drive away and had a great long, flat beach with sun beds, bars and restaurants. It was another great beach with kids or even just for adults.
We took a day trip to Aqualand (35 mins’ drive) which our 5 year old loved. He could go on quite a number of the slides with us and some small ones by himself. We found the water park in good condition and in late September there weren’t too many people about so we didn’t have to queue for any slides.
The only suggestions we’d have to improve on this already fantastic house are for the hosts to leave a book of instructions in case guests forget any of the initial advice and also include in it information on the local town and nearby attractions. And to leave a full-size rubbish bin outside (a wheely bin) so we could have emptied the inside bins ourselves more frequently (but this was because we had the kids’ nappies and night-time pull-ups filling up our bin).
All up this is a lovely property for families (or for groups of adults) with helpful and friendly hosts. We’d recommended it to others.
