Birthday Celebration

We enjoyed our stay at Above the Pines with our family, including our pup! Great property, equiped with everything you would need. Any issues we had were minor and immediately addressed. Hope to return soon.

Overall we had a great stay at Above the Pines, rooms were clean and spacious, hot tub was in good working condition, and the backyard was great for sledding. Only misses was that the main living areas didn't have good lighting, some of the bathrooms ran out of toilet paper, there was only enough dishwasher detergent for 1 load of dishes, and there wasn't any laundry detergent.

Good stay

I liked staying in that house. We enjoyed the spa. We didn’t use the bbq because it was too dirty. We didn’t like the lighting too light specially at night in the dining room. I liked bringing my dog. But when I tried to do my workout on my mat downstairs it was smelling strongly the pee on the carpet. I imagine a lot of dogs peed there and it should be cleaned deeply. Same for the big spot when you enter in the living room it’s not very welcoming. I probably won’t come back because I needed to charge my electric car and couldn’t do it there. I’ll try to find a home where I can do it. We loved truckee !

Nice house for group

This is a nice house for large family or group. The main level is nice with a large seating area and mid-size kitchen and dining. Bedrooms and rec room downstairs create a nice barrier for parents sleeping upstairs. Good for teens and parents. We had a few issues that the property maintenance came to address - heater not working in rec room and a burnt out lightbulb at the dining table fixture. I was surprised - or missed in the fine print - that I had to pay another $30/day for my 2nd dog. And when asking if an early check in was available, I was told there was a fee for that , which seemed a little opportunistic for more $. But other than that we had a nice visit.

End of summer visit

The property was spacious for 2 families and kids of various ages. We didn't go to the clubhouse (pool, playground, etc) as it was further away from the house than we anticipated, about 3miles, not bad but we were up there for the lake anyways. The house is way up in Tahoe Donner, which is a nice area in Truckee, but note that it is about 5+ miles from anything you might want to do in Truckee. Though in the winter it will be really close to the ski resort. Neighborhood was nice and quiet. House was well stocked with dishes, but could use more bath towels. I give the house 3 stars for cleanliness only because we had some issues with dishes & linens, but the property management was quick and responsive when we contacted them. I believe for the next person things will be taken care of. Bathroom was clean and bedrooms nice, which is important! I'd recommend this place.

Comfortable, well appointed home in the woods

This house is large and very comfortable for families, with plenty of room to spread out. It was very clean with everything you need to relax, cook, and enjoy Tahoe. We had a couple issues during our stay, and the property managers were very responsive to our questions/concerns.

Great stay!

We loved everything about this property! The design and amenities are wonderful, the bed in the master suite was amazing, and our dog loved sitting on the deck and looking for wildlife (not that he saw any, but hope springs eternal). Didn't use the hot tub but would be nice to have for winter time. If you visit in the summer be sure to hike the east perimeter trail, it's a great morning wake-up activity. My only suggestion is for the towels to be replaced. We will be back!

We had a lovely time with our life long friends. The house was nice, clean and met our needs for dining in. Unfortunately, it was very hot weather, no AC, however thankfully there were ceiling fans and other fans for our use.

Perfect for adults and kids!

Great house for both kids and adults, plenty of space, good amenities, close to both downhill and cross country, loved the hot tub for post skiing, it even snowed while we were there and dog friendly!

Heavenly Getaway

This was our first "vacation" in about 5 years. The house was unique, very comfortable and well-stocked. Loved the extraordinarily large master suite and mud room entry! We look forward to staying here again, hopefully soon. Caveat for those not used to Tahoe - there were two blackouts while we were in Tahoe (during the huge atmospheric river event the weekend of 10/23-25). One for 12 hours, one for 24 hours! We were told blackouts can happen quite often during winter months. Luckily I always travel with battery candles, which came in VERY handy staying in an unfamiliar house. Travelers might consider bringing a few with them during the winter!

Excellent family vacation

My sister and I like to have our families meet in a different city every year. This year we chose Truckee/Tahoe and this house met every single one of our needs. Location wise, we weren't more than 30 minutes away from any of the activities we had planned in the area. Easy access to Safeway and local restaurants. The house had plenty of room for all of us to be in the same room for games and movies, but also enough room for everyone to spread out. There was not a single thing we needed in the kitchen that wasn't already there. Going in the hot tub every night before bed was a huge hit with the kids. Lots of sheets and towels, the Tahoe Donner Rec offerings were great, and the wildlife was everywhere but nothing that wanted to eat us. This was truly one of the best vacation rental experiences we've had.

Relaxing getaway

We spent a long weekend at Above The Pines. We found the rental to be well equipped and comfortable. Great kitchen and outdoor deck with hot tub. There were only two of us and our dog but this house is made for a larger group ! Recommend it !

Nice Family home--Above the Pines home at Tahoe Donner

We really enjoyed our stay at this home. It was perfect for our family. We have young grandchildren and it was a safe environment for them with the rustic furniture and leather sofas. Location was great for Donner Lake as well as Tahoe. My only suggestions would be that there was no extra TP in the bathrooms and there was no dishwasher detergent at all. So we had to go buy that. Also, the dishwasher did not fully dissolve the detergent pod until we put it on Heavy Duty cycle. Last comment: carpets in master need to be cleaned. We hope to be back in this home next summer with our family.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house has all the amenities you could ask for. Very clean! Few minor things needed to be fixed ( like outlet in master bathroom didn’t work) but nothing major. The kitchen has all you need. Beautiful view. Couldn’t have had picked a better place to stay.

Rustic with great location

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall we had a great 6 night stay here. The cabin was clean upon arrival and the house we nicely prepared for us. You can tell the cabin was recently renovated and had a very rustic reclaimed wood vibe. So rustic that a few of us got splinters opening the cabinets. We had a few problems turning on the fireplace but with a call to the property management company we got it figured out. The hot tub was easy to use and a nice treat. The bathrooms were nice and big and clean but the shower doors leaked water downstairs and the upstairs door scraped the tile which was scary. There were also light bulbs out in the mud room and in the front of the house. Overall this is an extremely comfortable cabin and we appreciated that we could bring our dog. We all agreed we would rent this cabin again and I would recommend it to any friends who want to bring their dog with them.
