We love Heron’s Watch. Stayed here multiple times.. it is very spacious and the beds are comfortable. Access to the pool is wonderful and the beach is so close. It really is a wonderful price point compared to other places in Grayton. My only complaint is there was no internet at all. We tried to fix it ourselves and were successful for a very short period of time and then it went out again.. My husband had to leave many times to be able to take a few work calls and be use the computer. You don’t realize how frustrating that is to a group of people staying when you have kids involved as well.

This is in a perfect location, just one block from the Boardwalk! We loved the fact that this is one of the older cottages in town since so many have been replaced by huge mansions... so it's nice to see that this one has been well maintained and it reflects more of the artist vibe that Grayton Beach was known for! Great stay!

I will start with the positives. I loved the location. It does not get better than this location! The house was very close to the one of the beach boardwalks and there were no stairs to access the beach. The community pool was almost right across the street and was clean and quiet. We appreciated being walking distance to the Grayton food scene and I was surprised by how quiet it was being so close to two popular bars. The neighborhood/beach were very family friendly. Unfortunately the negatives outweighed a lot of the positive. The house called a “cottage” felt more like a beach shack at times. I knew from the pictures it was outdated in style, but I did not expect it to be unkept for the price that we paid. There were exposed screws where draw pulls should have been (I have a two year old and these were right at his height). The dryer lint trap was broken and unusable (creating a fire hazard and catching small clothing items). The floors felt sunken in places. I couldn’t get the second shower head to turn on in the claw foot tub bathroom (this could be user error). The worst issue however was that one of the windows had no locking mechanism. I identified this on day 1 and made the Real Joy team aware but for some reason it took literal days for a maintenance crew to come out and fix it. As a security issue, I expected this to be fixed day one. Overall, in the future, I will gladly pay a premium for better accommodations at this same beach.

Great little beach house

We had a great time staying at this house in Grayton beach. It was easy steps from the beach and some amazing food and stores. Very easy to get around and great location. We would totally come back and stay again.

Perfect Family Vacation

This was hands down one of our best family vacations. The location is ideal for getting to and from the beach with beautiful views of the lake and the gulf. The porch was the best for coffee, in the morning, lunch at the picnic table, and wine at night. We cannot wait to go back!

We Love Heron’s Watch

This is our second stay at Heron’s Watch and it checks every box for us at Grayton Beach. Walking distance to the beach and Red Bar/shops, clean and cozy home with everything we need to feel comfortable while on vacation. The proximity to the beach is perfect with little children, as well as having access to the pool. We love Heron’s Watch and will be back again!

Great stay steps from the beach

We loved this property tucked in the heart of Grayton Beach. The beach is only steps away along with Red Bar, Hotz, and Chiringo around the corner. West Lake is close by as well. The house has everything you would want for a classic beach house. Two showers, 3 bedrooms, a large common area, and large porches front and back. Great parking attached to the property.

Great Location!

We love Grayton Beach! This is one of the older, small houses - a bit quirky and cool. So close to the beach and the lake —and The Red Bar! Community pool is excellent. Furniture is comfortable. TV is very small, but was rarely on anyway. Front porch is very nice. We will be back!

Charming old cottage

Some of the furniture is old and uncomfortable. The "oldness" of the cottage is a mix of charming and annoying. The old fashioned shower and tub was not great and the kitchen was lacking.

A Greaton Week!

Katheryn was a hard worker. We ran into a problem with our original rental days before arrival. Katheryn helped us find an appropriate alternative. The communication during our stay was a real bonus. Will be back. Will recommend RealJoy to others.

Rough around the edges; way more shabby than chic!

Love the area, the beach, The Red Bar, proximity to Sea Side and Destin. This property, however, has seen better days. The furniture is shabby, a broken ottoman was noted as broken weeks ago in the guest book. I reported it as broken, too. No bed skirts on the beds - bare box springs, both bathrooms are stand alone (photos look like one is attached to a bedroom to me). Strange tub/ shower in one bathroom; just odd. Kitchen is tiny, few spoons and other utensils. Definitely rough.... it's a tear down waiting to happen. Great location, though.

Dirty and in disrepair

The home had bugs and was dirty. The bathtub is an unsafe place to shower as it is a slipping hazard, very odd set up. Looks nice in photos but the house in in disrepair. Floors are soft in areas, found bugs on the floors and overall appearance is not very tidy and clean. Needs a major overhaul at the prices being charged. Plugs in both bathrooms did not work. The stay was mediocre at best. I would not recommend booking this property until they get rid of some of the old non-functional furnishings, update and do a deep clean.
