Overall, truly a 4.5. First and foremost ...simply one of the most beautiful views from a monster wrap around deck you’ll find on the coast. As well, it had all the amenities you’d need for steaming bugs (lobstah) and cooking for an army. This property loses the 1/2 point in rating for few reasons. 1) if you have elderly or handicap relatives / friends visiting ...the beach is a difficult, steep hike. They may not get their toes in the sand here. This should be mentioned...maybe it was, I may have missed. 2) As part of the rules, you’re required to handle your own trash....literally, as in, haul it to the dump yourself. I’m not sure about others, but for $3k+ a week I would think the owners could find someone to handle/haul. We’d have pay an extra $50 for sure! 3) If you’re a boater...it’s a tidal bay: meaning when the tide is up you’re good to go, when the tide is out, your anchored boat (no dock or mooring in the water) is sitting on the flats. Tides are about 8 or 9ft. Just thought this should be disclosed ....lot of folks out there like us that like to haul or rent boats for use. The tidal bay forced us to leave our boat in another location and drive to use it. 4) No television .....not that television is what vacations about, but we do like to catch up on our ball games (Go Sox/Pats!) while relaxing after long day. There was a small (like computer screen small) screen that played DVD’s. An upgrade would be recommended, particularly where for a couple hundred bucks you can get a heck of screen today.
Overall, great stay and thanks for sharing your property Carlisle’s. Truly a historic and wonderful slice of ME coast....
