We are a family of four and we stayed in Villa l’Oliveraie the 1st 2 weeks of August 2014 with 2 children (6 & 8). What a fantastic place it is! The villa is situated high up in the hills in the middle of the forest. The first few times you need quite some courage to take the drive up (very small & steep roads!), but it is all so worthwhile! The views from the terrace are absolutely stunning! No picture can ever capture the beauty of the breathtaking panorama! Although it is still a bit of a drive to the coast, you can see all the way to the ocean. And if you’re lucky, you’ll have a free view on the fireworks .
What we didn’t know before, but was a wonderful surprise, was that late in the evening or very early in the morning, we got surprise visits on the higher and lower terraces from several deer! Once we even spotted a wild boar nearby!
The villa itself is clean, spacious and has all modern amenities. VERY well equipped!
The garden consists of different terraces with a small lawn next to the house and a nice swing & slide for the children on a lower terrace. Big winner was the pool! Perfect size and it slopes from 80cm to 190cm at the deepest part. All safe for children as the pool has a hard cover and the garden & terrace are fenced off.
The owners, Alexia & Anthony are lovely people! Very helpful both before our booking as in France! And Stephane, who takes care of the garden and the pool every week was very friendly as well; he gave us many tips on where to go and what to visit. However, the villa is so appealing, the pool so inviting and the view so spectacular, that we preferred to stay on the property most of the time.
There are various supermarkets in the area, but even for a bakery, you’ll need to take the car. Just as long as you do a few big shopping trips, you’ll be fine.
The owner produces great olive oil!
We have been renting villa’s in the South of France for the past decade, and this one was by far the best price / quality!
