The apartment offers a fantastic view over the lagoon and the Atlantic, you can hear the sound of the sea. The terrace is really huge and it's fun to have breakfast there in the morning. The rooms are large and well equipped. There is a separate bathroom for each bedroom. The kitchen has a large dining table in case there's a storm. The town and the shops are only minutes away by car. Ideal for exploring the north of Portugal and only 1 hour from Lisbon or 2 hours from Porto. We can only recommend it.

Dear Bernard Thank you for you review and we are glad you enjoyed the view from our terrace. We are surprised and disappointed by some of your comments and would respond. You refer to “old fashioned furniture”. All of the principle furniture (sofas, beds, tables & chairs) is new and from Ikea and is mostly in their current range and in stores, hardly old fashioned. There are four valuable antique pieces that we believe give the place character, mainly chests of drawers and an Ormolu side table in the Hall. We are surprised if these gave offence. The “terrace table and benches are from another age”. The benches are solid French Oak designed and made by an artisan we know locally. The table was bought in Portugal, from new and whilst it may have seen too many summers, it has no damage but will probably be replaced at the end of next summer. We are disappointed they are not to your taste. Cleanliness. We stayed in the apartment only three weeks before (two guest visits apart) we were pleased with the standards the cleaners had achieved. The independent previous reviews also complimented us on the cleanliness. As to the oven, I’ve only ever seen a completely clean oven when it is brand new! We are sorry we fell short of your very high standards. The only issue you raised with our Agent was in regard to the oven and that was on the last day and upon exiting. The attic room is what it is. An attic room. The sloping ceilings are clear from the photographs on the website. I’m sorry that one of your friends bumped their heads, there is cushioning on those beams, all clear from the photographs. That is why we recommend it as a place for children to chill out. The WIFI is, as you described and not included. But to imply it as a negative in the review is more a reflection on your choosing, rather than our provision. We could have provided Full Internet coverage but at an extra cost to you. We have spoken to Alison our Agent. She reported that there were no complaints during the visit. But at the end you mentioned the sloping ceilings and the oven. By which time we had no time to attend to the last comment. We appreciate that our property might not be ideal for guests in their 60’s and 70’s, but that is because it is designed and equipped primarily for “family holidays”. We feel the initial comment and 2* rating is disproportionate. We would be exceedingly grateful if you could withdraw these, as they do not reflect the expectations of our family audience.
