Hi! We’re Kris and Matt, the owners of Red Roof Retreats here at Lake of Egypt in Southern Illinois.

What started as one little cabin turned into a collection of unique stays designed for people who love the outdoors, lake life, and simple moments together. We live nearby and are very hands-on with our properties, always looking for ways to make each stay comfortable, clean, and welcoming.

We believe in morning coffee on the deck, stargazing by the firepit, wildlife sightings, and slowing down long enough to actually enjoy where you are.

Whether you’re here to hike Shawnee National Forest, paddle the lake, visit local wineries, or just unplug for a few days, we’re happy you chose to stay with us.

Little Moon offers true lakefront tiny living — your own private dock just steps from the door, two small decks overlooking the water, and a firepit for slow evenings under the stars.

The outdoor shower adds a simple, refreshing touch after swimming or kayaking, and the compact one-room layout keeps everything cozy and connected.

Unlike larger homes, Little Moon feels intimate and private — ideal for couples who want water views without the noise or space of a big house.

Guests also enjoy access to lake toys, nearby hiking in Shawnee National Forest, and optional spa experiences through Spa-La-La — giving you both adventure and relaxation in one stay.
