I'm giving it 2 stars not because I was disappointed, I wasn't. I'm giving it 2 stars because that's the kind of property it is. It's like a 2 star hotel compared to a 5 star hotel. The description and pictures are spot on. Don't expect more. It needs updating, more air circulation and dressers with drawers that slide easily. Bigger bathrooms would be nice too. But if it was a 5 star beach house, it would cost more... so you get what you pay for. The proximity to the beach was great! The location was perfect (mid-north mission beach)... it was quiet and not crowded at all. It might be perfect for you, so don't dismiss it! It just depends on your preference (closer to the beach, smaller and no updates, or further away with a bigger, more updated beach house for the same price). One thing to be aware of is that the parking is suuuuuuper tight. If you drive a mini van or anything bigger, you'll have a tough time getting out of the car. I thought the parking was strange - like I was parking on a front porch. It was pretty warm inside. Air doesn't circulate very well because it's a small space, not very open, with other structures next to it, which blocks air flow. We brought extra fans with us and we were so glad we did! Also, the garbage bins for the units in that court are right up against your kitchen window. So when the window is open, it can be a little disruptive, not too bad though. At least they collect the garbage often enough that smells didn't get super bad, but there's definitely an odor. And we did notice a lot of flies in the house. I don't know whether or not it was related to the the trash being next to the window, but I'm sure it didn't help.
Overall, location and proximity to the beach made the place totally do-able. So it all just depends on your preference. I felt like for us, it wasn't worth the price we paid. We did enjoy our stay and we love mission beach!
