Príncipe Real is the fashionable district in Lisbon, being the zone where the new restaurants and the most alternative commercial spaces are concentrated. This neighborhood was dubbed Príncipe Real in honor of D. Pedro V, son of Dona Maria II and is located to the north of the bohemian Bairro Alto.
The Príncipe Real has become a hipster area of the city thanks to the several design shops that have emerged recently, attracting an increasingly younger population. However, it keeps intact its essentially residential charm with beautiful gardens, two of the city's greatest squares (Príncipe Real and Flores) and palaces. Its charm makes it one of the most exclusive neighborhoods and sought after to live, leading to several old buildings have been recovered.
Contrasting with the age of the buildings and the pieces exhibited in the antiquaries of the zone, the Príncipe Real presents a new vitality, becoming more and more cosmopolitan.
