I didn't intend to buy property or build a home. I was house-sitting for a friend in the area. The first day, I took my dog for a walk. At the end of the driveway, I took a right and walked down N. Gulch Rd. In a forest area, I looked across the canyon and saw a beautiful area with a burned-out house. I thought, "I wonder if this land is for sale." The second day, we took a left. Coming down a deserted road, I saw the cliffs. Very moved by the sight, I caught my breath. A couple minutes later, I was at the burned-out house and I realized I was across the area from the day before.
A month later, I house-sat again and met the landlord. I did not tell him or anyone else about the land or the house.
A month after that, the landlord called me. He said, "How would you like to come look at some property I have for sale. I met him and he drove me down the road. He stopped at the area where I caught my breath at the sight of the cliffs and said, "This is it." So, I didn't choose. "Life" chose this property for me. It took six years to build my home. I received the Certificate of Occupancy last year -- May 2017.
