Casas do Arco - Casa do Baldi

Casa do Baldi, located on the 3rd floor offers the best view over Arco de Almedina. This spacious T2 name is a tribute to Pier Maria Baldi, the florentine painter who accompanied Cosme de Medicis in their travels through Spain and Portugal. His watercolors gave a precious contribute to the knowledge of portuguese landscapes from the XVII century. Travelers, like Baldi, inspire the different rooms and décor.
The apartment has 2 bedrooms, one of which is a suite, dining space, kitchenette, sitting room and two bathrooms. In total there are 4 single beds that can be converted into 2 double beds and 1 sofa bed in the sitting room.

While staying at Casas do Arco, guests will have access to the whole apartment. Bed linen, towels and cleaning service are included in the price. At request, we can provide free baby cradle and eating chair.

Perfect place to explore Coimbra University

Hosts were great at helping us navigate parking and the short hike to the apartment. We arrived to a wonderful 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite complete with complimentary wine and snacks, overlooking a quaint courtyard, righr in the heart of the old university steps away from restaurants, shops murestmuseums

Excellent Location

This is a wonderful apartment that is central to the university and sights of the central district. It is quiet and comfortable. Check in was a breeze and communication with the owners was prompt and helpful. It is a great apartment for two couples traveling together. I would stay here again.

1 night in Coimbra

The apartment is in a perfect location in Old Town. It is just off of the main pedestrian street and many of the sights, coffee shops and restaurants you will want to visit are a short distance away. The beds were comfortable and the shower was hot. Check in process was easy, and included good directions on where to have a taxi drop us off from the train station, and how to walk right there without any problems. We had good communication with the property managers and also appreciated being able to get in a little early. Would definitely stay here again if I go back to Coimbra.

Great location and comfortable apartment

Only downside of this great VRBO is that parking is not close and you have to haul your luggage quite a ways plus up three flights of stairs. However the location is excellent being in the centre of everything!

Central location to restaurants and historic landmarks

Overall spacious place for 4 people; nice size rooms. No elevator and located 3rd floor. Not a problem for us however could be challenging for people with mobility issue as there is no elevator. Nice bar on the ground floor with local artists and music and bar closed by midnight on the Sunday night we were there. Location is very central.

Perfect location in Coimbra

If you are heading to Coimbra for the first time, this is an excellent choice for your stay. It is just off one of the main walkways in central Coimbra overlooking one of the original gates to the old city. The apartment is perfect for breakfast and lunch preparation. It is a short 10 minute walk to a grocery store and very close to one of the main tourist attractions, the University of Coimbra. There are many restaurants in the area, as well as coffee and pastry shops. The rental company was very helpful and communication was easy and quick. Because this rental is in a central area, guests must be prepared to walk uphill and up stairs (we were on the third floor) with luggage. But if you are coming to Coimbra, everywhere you go will likely include up hill walking. The windows on the apartment are very good so there was no noise in the evening with them closed and each room has air conditioning. We enjoyed our stay here very much and will recommend Atlantic Rentals to others for any travel to Coimbra.

Comfortable apartment close to everything!

Pros: very comfortable, extremely clean apartment with modern bathrooms (wonderful water pressure and hot water in the showers!), modest kitchen (enough to make breakfast easily, but you probably wouldn’t want to cook much more there), wonderful communication with managers; they were so helpful with finding things (we could not find the iron, for example—it is in the front bedroom closet which we thought was locked, just didn’t pull on the door hard enough). Rita was so kind, and came over to check on the iron and found it. There is also a washer and a microwave! Cons: The only negative is if you are a light sleeper and wish to turn in early, there is a tavern right below the apartment in the square with live music on weekends until 10:30 and then it stays open until 1 a.m. on weekends with loud music from a boombox and even louder tavern goers. But in fairness we were there on a weekend when students from the University party all week as they return to school (we had no idea about this tradition!) so it was probably noisier than normal. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so those would be much quieter days, I’m guessing. Just an FYI in case you actually want to turn in a little bit earlier!

Wonderful stay in Coimbra

This lovely spacious apartment is perfectly located, just steps from the Arch of Almedina (with a view down on the plaza) and an easy walk down to the pedestrian plaza and up to the University. The host made everything incredibly easy, with very easy check-in, a lovely bottle of wine and chips to welcome us and recommendations for great restaurants and Coimbra-style Fado nearby. Free public parking is also fairly close, just outside the city wall. The apartment is very spacious and graciously appointed, with 2 full bedrooms, 2 baths and a fully stocked kitchen as well as a separate living room overlooking the arch. This was one of our favorite and most memorable places to stay during our Portugal adventure - thank you!
