We had an absolutely fantastic stay at this amazing place. The host was very attentive and informative both prior and during our stay. The house, garden and swimming pool exceeded our expectations. There were everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The property is well kept and looked after.

Amazing house and fantastic hospitality

We had very high expectations for the stay at the house, as we received many good recommendations from our friends and we have to admit that the house and stay exceeded our expectations! Both the value for money and hospitality of Chantal and her family was amazing! We can most definitely recommend the house to anyone else and we hope to return again in the future.

Absolutely stunning villa- five stars!

I’d give this villa more stars if there was an option to. We had a fabulous stay, the owners could not do enough for us.everything was quality and it’s so well equipped. We had a lovely stay. It’s 30mins from Porto and you definitely need a car. Nearest bakery is 5 mins away by car but if you want a relaxing holiday in a great location then you need to book a stay her.

This place was incredible, we were sold on it by the photos but upon arrival we realised that it was so much better than we'd thought, Chantal was the perfect host and we couldn't have been happier with our stay. We would definitely come back in the future.

What an incredible place! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away – the photos simply don’t do it justice. The villa exceeded every expectation we had. It was immaculate, beautifully presented, and equipped with everything we could possibly need… and more.The surrounding grounds were absolutely stunning – peaceful, picturesque, and meticulously maintained. It truly felt like a little slice of paradise.Chantel and her family were wonderful hosts – warm, welcoming, and genuinely caring. They stayed in touch throughout our stay, checking in to make sure we were comfortable and offering fantastic local tips on things to see and do.We couldn't have asked for a better experience. This villa is a real gem, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return. Highly recommended!

Fantastic house 30 min from Porto

Very large and beautiful, modern house on the countryside. Large kitchen, big en-suite baths in all four bedrooms. The pool area and garden is like an oasis. 3 min drive to a nice restaurant and a bakery. This is very, very good value for money. Strongly recommended!

We are a group of 6 friends...who all agreed this was a fabulous property.....it is a rural property ...but once you arrive you don't want to leave ....the property owners couldn't do enough for us .... we would recommend to anyone ....five star all the way

Best Vacation Rental Experience Ever

We have rented vacation properties for years in several countries. This was our best experience without doubt. Chantal and her family are the best host you will ever know. Chantal and her son Dylan met our every need, even taking a visiting friend for medical care. Quinta Fontelas is a magnificent property, a beautiful, well kept home, surrounded by acres of flowers, ponds, view, ponies and tranquility. My hope is to return soon. Michael

Amazing property in a wonderful location

Property is very modern, high tech and spacious. Probably the nicest house we have ever stayed in. Garden is outstanding and very peaceful. We enjoyed sitting outside in the morning and afternoon listening to the birds singing. Chantal, Dylan and Rosa were incredibly helpful to us during our stay and always responded very quickly to any questions we had. Property is about 30min from Porto and so you will probably need a car. For us, it was worth it to enjoy the peace and quiet of this outstanding property.

This villa is truly a gem. The photographs do not do it justice. Although architecturally modern, there is a charm and warmth that comes through when you see the care that has been taken to provide security, privacy and comfort for guests. We were a group of older adults, so enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. The villa is about 35-45 minutes drive from Porto and many other towns. Day trips out into the region were easy to manage with the help of the GPS and well-marked motorways. The owner, Chantal, and her family looked after our every need, even as our needs changed from earlier plans. They made valuable suggestions for sightseeing and dining in the area and also arranged for a local car and driver/guide so that we could relax and enjoy the day. The solar-powered cruise on the Douro River was a highlight. We may not have known about this option if Chantal had not suggested it and bought the tickets for us.Thank you Chantal, Dylan and your team. Your kindness and attention ensured that our holiday was as close to perfect as is possible. We will definitely recommend Quinta Fontelas to our family and friends and take with us fantastic memories of our stay with you.

Wow!!

My husband and I booked this house for 5 nights. It was amazing. Super clean, was really big, had a fabulous architectural layout and design and was everything we needed and more! The host Chantel was great! Met us at check in and brought her daughter in law to translate (we only speak English). They were just wonderful. She gave us fresh laid eggs and checked in on us when the weather went south a bit. She provided a huge list of things to see and restaurants she recommended. We will definitely be back!! Really enjoyed our time. This is a gated property, pool, all of the common rooms are big and cozy, and really the list goes on! We highly recommend this house and host. Feel like we made new friends!

Absolutely superb

There were lots of things that made this holiday memorable. Firstly the property. The villa is stunning, and has so much space! It is extremely well equipped and has lots of unique and beautiful touches in the all the rooms. The garden, also huge, is beautiful with large areas of grass and shrubs and trees, lots of decking and an outside dining area with a little 'stream' running behind it. There is a tiny farm right next door that you can walk around with pot-bellied pigs, Pygmy goats, horses, hens and ducks. But what stood out for us was how friendly and helpful the hosts were. The weather was a bit wet and cool at the start and they suggested so many things to see and do that we would have to have stayed for a month to do them all! They were the best hosts I have ever met. The whole family loved Quinta Fontelas and we would love to go back next year.

WOW, WOW, WOW

We spent a week at Chantal’s wonderful ’’ resort’’. This is not your ordinary VRBO rental, Chantal (and family) are professionals at running a rental home. The kitchen if fully equipped with all you need, nothing has been forgotten. Nespresso machine, Nescafe machine, raclette machine. The bathrooms are stocked like a hotel room, we feel more like we are in a resort instead of a private rental. This huge house is even nicer than the pictures on VRBO, we toured the house with Chantal and I think we said WOW 20 times. This is a gated house so your car or whatever you are driving is completely safe. If you are looking for a relaxed place not too far from Porto and the Douro valley you can stop looking, this is the place. We were there for a motorcycle riding week and the area did not disappoint. Chantal gave us many, many recommendations for restaurants, road trip adventures and places to visit. Merci Chantal.

The best VRBO property I've ever stayed in.

I don't usually take time to provide feedback, but this property warrants it. The owner put a LOT of work into this property and it shows. Not only is the house amazing, but the owners stopped by to walk us around to meet the birds, goats, and ponies. They also left a welcome present and early Christmas gifts! On our second day, we woke up to a flat tire. We called the owner to ask if she could recommend a tire shop. In 10-minutes, she had the owner of the local tire shop at our house. He took the tire away and brought it back all patched up in an hour. He put it back on the car and refused to let us pay him, saying that we were now friends. (So we left him some good Port!) This house made me want to move to Portugal! I promise that you will enjoy every moment at Quinta Fontelas.

Exceeded every expectation!

We have been renting houses to travel for the last 15 years or so and I can say without hesitation this is the best property we’ve ever stayed at. Truly, the photos do not do the house and grounds justice. The host and her family were exceptionally welcoming and were available to help when needed. The house was immaculate on arrival and very well equipped for our stay. All of the bedrooms are en-suite (and huge). The beds were very comfortable which is always a big plus when you travel. There is just so much space, both inside and out that you can be together to give each other separation when needed. The outside is just as nice as the inside! So many places to just sit and relax of have lunch. There is a huge outdoor BBQ area with sink and refrigerator. It wasn’t quite warm enough during our stay to use the pool but it is also just stunning. Ok so that’s all the good stuff… what about the negative points? There were none! I had to think for awhile to even come up with something minor and I just couldn’t. This is a very special property with a fantastic host and is an ideal base for exploring this part of Portugal. We truly cannot recommend this more highly. Will 100% be going back to this house!

Chantal var en fantastisk vært og huset levede mere en op til forventningerne. Grunden der omringer huset er smuk og frodig og dyrene i baghaven bidrager med unik hygge og stemning.Huset er rigeligt stort at dele til 2 familier og køkkenet er dejligt stort til at man kan lave mad sammen og der er masser af udstyr og husholdningsartikler (fx toastmaskine, brødrister, kaffemaskine osv). Der er endda 2 køleskabe og 2 frysere. Vi manglede intet bortset fra måske dybe tallerkener.Poolområdet og udekøkkenet er også virkeligt dejligt og det er også praktisk at vi kunne vaske tøj undervejs.Eneste minus er at man skal bruge bil til alt men det var der informeret om på forhånd. Vi gik dog gerne ca 2km til en lille lokal bager uden problemer hvis man er frisk på en varm gåtur.Der er også gode muligheder for udflugter inden for max 1 times kørsel.Vi kommer helt sikkert tilbage til dette skønne sted.

Wir hatten das unglaubliche Vergnügen, eine wundervolle Zeit in diesem Ferienhaus zu verbringen, und können es nur wärmstens empfehlen! Schon bei der Ankunft wurden wir von den überaus freundlichen und herzlichen Vermietern empfangen, die uns sofort das Gefühl gaben, willkommen zu sein. Ihre Hilfsbereitschaft war während des gesamten Aufenthalts herausragend – egal ob es um Tipps für Ausflüge oder kleine Anliegen ging, sie waren stets zur Stelle und haben sich mit großer Freude um unser Wohl gekümmert. So eine Gastfreundschaft findet man selten!Das Haus selbst ist ein absolutes Juwel. Es ist nicht nur wunderschön und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, sondern auch unglaublich geräumig. Wir hatten mehr als genug Platz, um uns auszubreiten und richtig wohlzufühlen. Besonders beeindruckt hat uns die üppige Ausstattung: Es hat wirklich an nichts gefehlt! Von der Küche über die Bäder bis hin zu den Wohnbereichen – alles war hochwertig, modern und bis ins kleinste Detail durchdacht. Séjour d'une semaine dans un cadre idylliqueMaison spacieuse, au calme, avec un magnifique jardin.Très bien équipée, très propre.Propriétaire aux petits soins, et soucieuse de notre bien-être pendant une semaine à la météo capricieuse et froide.Je recommande cette location !
