A beautifully renovated old Hunting Lodge with stunning countryside views

Situated in the beautiful countryside with views over the vines and sunflower fields, this old Hunting Lodge has recently undergone an extensive renovation and is perfectly located for a peaceful holiday whilst still offering a wealth of reachable amenities in every direction.
All the bedrooms are spacious with their own bathrooms. Two bedrooms are located on the ground floor, and the two first floor suites offer dressing areas and one contains a day bed for an additional younger child. The sociable central kitchen is well equipped for all your catering needs, and the double doors lead out to a shaded dining terrace overlooking the orchard and fields beyond. There is the added bonus of an outside kitchen with another al fresco dining area beside the swimming pool. With over two acres of gardens there is plenty of space for outdoor games, and also perfect to find a quiet shaded spot to read. Guests will also have use of a private on site gym, and for the cycling and walking enthusiasts there are an amazing choice of stunning routes for miles in any direction.

There are a couple of local restaurants within a few minutes drive of the gite, and the new artisan boulangerie is a walk across the fields.

Baignes is less than a 10 minute drive with a pretty town square, a bar, crepperie, pizza takeaway and a couple of restaurants, plus a supermarket.

Visit the pretty thermal spa town of Jonzac (15 min drive) with choice of restaurants, shops, supermarkets and local market. Les Antilles will keep any children entertained with an adventure play ground, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and water park.

Montendre is also an easy 15 minute drive with a 9-hole golf course, and during the summer a weekly night market. There is also a beach lake with swimming pool and play areas, paddle boards, canoeing and fishing. The nearby Mysterra centre is a collection of mazes and trails for all the family to enjoy.

Cognac, St Emillion and Bordeaux make for a lovely scenic drive and a day out to exercise your taste buds, and explore further afield.

If you fancy a day one of the beautiful Atalantic beaches then Royan is about an hour’s drive, La Rochelle 1 hour 30 mins, and a bit further for Arcachon with the Dune de Pilat, the largest sand dune in Europe.

Bordeaux Airport is approximately 1 hour's drive, and La Rochelle 1 hour and 30 minutes

A fabulous french holiday

We really enjoyed our stay at the gite. Debs was an incredible host - friendly, welcoming, and made sure that we had everything we needed. The house was perfect for our group of 6. It was clean and tidy, spacious and had the most well stocked kitchen we have ever seen whilst staying in holiday properties. All restaurant recommendations were spot on but lazing by the pool in the peaceful french countryside was probably the highlight of the trip!

Fantastic property and host near Jonzac

Before we'd even arrived Debs was very keen to help and provide advice on what we might want to do on the trip. She met us as we arrived and was very welcoming. She was quick to answer any questions we had via text and even booked a restaurant for us one night. The property itself is excellent. Light, airy and clean. It was hot when we were there but most of the property stayed cool. The outdoor area is huge, with plenty of space for the kids to roam. All very safe. The pool was perfect. Our kids spent spent every moment in there! Would definitely stay again.

Perfect gite in every way

We have holidayed in France on numerous occasions, but this is definitely the best gite we have stayed in. The house itself is very clean, spacious, and exceptionally well appointed. The outside area is also very well thought out with an amazing pool and outdoor kitchen, together with table tennis and badminton/volley net, lots to keep everyone happy and occupied. Our host Debs was great, very friendly and informative, on hand if you needed some advice on a place to visit, but also respected our privacy. I would very much recommend staying at this perfect gite.

Une très belle adresse

Un très très bon séjour , la maison est très bien équipée avec gout . Les propriétaires sont très disponibles car ils se trouvent sur la seconde partie de la maison . Présents mais non envahissants. Une maison apaisante, calme et très chaleureuse.

The holiday house you always wished for!

Just perfect! Lovely property, spacious, so well equipped ( 3 fridges, 3 ovens!!) and comfortable, set in the perfect peaceful countryside location! Debs and Vince on hand if needed but property private and fully yours to enjoy it really did feel like home. They are full of local knowledge and advice which lead us to some memorable days out. Never been so sad to leave a holiday ! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Amazing gite, lovely owners, in a beautiful setting

We (two families with children aged 7-10) hired the gite for two weeks and were not disappointed. We had a superb holiday - the gite, pool and grounds are all first class. Debs and Vince were super friendly and incredibly helpful. We didn’t see as much of the local area as we’d anticipated as the pool and garden were just too good, plus the weather was exceptionally hot! What we did visit was great though - we’d love to come back again!

Superbe maison où le calme règne

Maison très agréable, bien équipée, avec une belle piscine et un très grand jardin sans aucun vis à vis. Un endroit idéal pour se reposer et se ressourcer. Les hôtes sont accueillants, discrets, réactifs et très sympathiques.

Absolutely Wonderful - Highly Recommend

Where to begin?? Debs and Vince are simply amazing hosts - friendly and helpful communication right from when we booked to when we left. They are on hand to help if you need anything but also leave you to your stay. The gite is beautiful, approx 45-50 minutes from Bordeaux Airport and we found ourselves in wonderful countryside. Sometimes photos can be deceiving and when you arrive you are a little disappointed, but this was the opposite. It is all just as lovely, if not more so, than the photos showed. Spotlessly clean and provided everything you could think of. The beds were comfy and with lovely bedlinen. It was the little touches - a wonderful hamper of food treats on arrival (inc. a very welcome bottle of rosè and cold beers), nice hand wash, candles, books, plenty of coat hangers etc, that made us feel rather spoilt! The kitchen was equipped with every gadget or implement you could ever need - regrettably we didn't use the outside kitchen as the Heatwave arrived just after we arrived but the bbq was used by us most days. All the bathrooms were clean, modern and bright. The bedrooms were spacious and beautifully decorated. We did look at the gym, but I must confess only one of us used it, but it is a nice extra option for those who might not want to drop their fitness regime! The Pool was the perfect size for us (7 people) but could easily fit plenty more (again, no deceptive pool photo angle!) with plenty of sun loungers, shades, side tables and, much to the kids delight, inflatables. I also spent a few hours reading on a bench under the shade of a gorgeous tree when it became rather hot - just bliss! The table outside the front was perfect for enjoying our evening meal and for when the shade hit that area, and we spent most evenings sat out there enjoying the peace and surroundings. As mentioned, the Heatwave had started in France during our stay so we did not venture out or explore as much as we would have liked as it was around 38 degrees for most of our stay, but quite honestly, because the gite and outside areas were so beautiful, we were more than happy to spend our time there. It was a wonderful holiday and I would highly recommend it and again, a huge thanks to Debs and Vince for being such wonderful hosts. I truly hope that we are able to come and stay again.

Holidaying in Vanzac

We had a wonderful time at The Hunting Lodge in Vanzac. The hosts were on hand if needed, the accommodation was clean, tidy,and well thought out. There was obvious attention to detail and thought had gone into making sure everyone would be comfortable. Plenty of outdoor space for socialising and games with a great pool to cool off when it got too hot.

BEST HOUSE EVER

We had the most amazing 9 days at the house! Deb's and Vince are the most attentive hosts, they go way beyond what you might expect. The grounds of the house are fantastic, well cared for well maintained. The house itself has everything you could possibly need, and if you can't find it, Deb's and Vince will provide it. Well appointed, spotlessly clean and looks exactly like the pictures! We recommend this house to anyone looking to have a wonderful holiday near Bordeaux. If we go to that area again that will be the house we rent!!!! Thanks again Debs and Vince.

Villa très spacieuse toute équipée et très propre avec tout le confort nécessaire pour notre séjour. Une bonne literie, une salle de sport, une grande piscine et un grand espace de jeux collectif pour les petits et grands à côté de la piscine avec tout le nécessaire pour s'amuser en famille ou entre amis. Un beau paysage calme et paisible pour se déconnecter de tout. Les hôtes sont disponibles et à l'écoute. Encore merci à eux pour leur gentillesse. Nous y retournerons avec plaisir.

Parfaite maison à la campagne

Le lieu est calme et idéal pour des vacances en famille et entre amis. Une très belle vu sur la campagne alentour. Nous avons vraiment apprécié notre séjour dans cette maison toute équipée, très bien rénovée et avec tout le matériel possible et disponible ( vaisselles, ustensiles, jeux, salle de sport, BBQ ...) . Les hôtes sont très disponibles et prévenants. Nous serions ravis d'y revenir pour un long WE.

Fantastique

Un accueil chaleureux dans une maison formidable. Le lieu est calme et idéal pour des retrouvailles en famille ou entre amis. Nous avons adoré notre séjour avec tout ce qu’il faut sur place. La maison est extrêmement bien équipée, très propresm et les propriétaires sont charmants et disponibles s’il manque quoi que ce soit. Merci Debbie et Vincent pour ce séjour inoubliable.
