On the eastern part of São Miguel Island, discover our lodge located in the heart of a nature reserve, Faja do Araujo, facing Marquises Bay.
2 bedrooms, 2 double beds, 1 single bed, and 1 sofa bed; 2 shower rooms; a terrace with a unique view, ...Peace and relaxation guaranteed.

A stay of a lifetime: off the beaten track, perched on the cliff edge with the waves breaking below. 1000 miles of empty ocean in front of you, and barely another house in sight.Don’t pick this house if you want luxury: it’s fairly basic accommodation, and be aware of some of the practicalities: a steep drive down, a walk and quite a few steps to the car, and bring drinking water as the tap water isn’t safe to drink.Do pick this house if you want to feel away from the world for your stay!

The views and windows stunning. Surrounded by nature on all sides. Remote, we decided to cook dinner in every night to avoid driving the steep, hairpin road down at night. A small path and steps to get down to the place, fine for us but if have mobility concerns would be a problem. Comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen. Rustic beauty. Alain provided all the info. We needed - unique sounding birds at night. We had a wonderful stay and would stay again!

A unique and very beautiful spot for a summer house. Perched just above the sea on the volcanic cliffs to the west of the island. Corey’s shearwaters (?) nesting just below the balcony gave us a stunning display at dusk and dawn. Good parking close by. We were unlucky enough to have unseasonably cold weather for May so the log burner hot a bit of use in the evenings.If you want to cook for yourself there is a well stocked kitchen and plenty of herbs spices and oils available.As a bonus we went whale watching and had a close up experience with a Blue Whale. All in all a great place to stay on a relatively unspoilt island.

Three days in paradise

The area is an absolute treasure with incredible views and a sense of solitude. The property is like a cottage, with a rustic feel, with all the amenities you need. We loved it!

Nice place, well equipped with spectacular views. Remote and off grid. Allow for time in car required to explore island, including daily mountain-driving commute to access main road. Need to watch small children and headlamps were recommended for night time.

Dreamlike oasis

Photos cannot fully capture the magical experience of staying here. Once you descend the steps, you feel you are alone amidst the majesty of the ocean and nature itself. The house is filled with many details that enhance the comfort of your stay.

Nice, sweet all you need! We had a great time and were flashed by the great view. Every morning sunrise from bed and breakfast in front of the ocean. It‘s a lil rustical but so sweet and lovely!

A beautiful house with an amazing view!

A beautiful property built into the cliffs with a most spectacular view! The house is well appointed and only a short drive to Nordeste where there is a good butcher, fishmonger and mini mart. We loved the feeling of being so close to the sea and to nature. Alain was a lovely host giving us lots of tips. All in all an amazing place to stay!

Wonderfull house with amazing view

This place is truly amazing. A short walk from the parkingspace (100 meters) brings you to the house that is built on the rocks above the ocean. The view is impressive. The house has everything you need and is very well suited for working as well as relaxing. Even the bed has a sea view. We definitely hope to return some time.

A jewel at the end of the world

We had a wonderful stay. Very relaxing in a breathtaking nature! The terrace is an oasis and Alain is very friendly and helpful. The house is very well equipped also for kids. Only the bathroom wasn't that nice. Nevertheless a little paradise and we are very thankful for this greatful holidays. 5⭐

A beautifully extended fisherman’s cottage on a cliff, with the perfect mix of a hippie feeling and the comfort of a hot shower, a soft bed, and fast internet. Loved it. The sea view is simply unbelievable. We spent hours sitting on the sofa, just looking out of the window, watching the ocean and the atmosphere change like a living painting. One thing to be aware of: the cagarros come back from the sea in the evening and circle along the coast. These guys are really noisy. The back bedroom is quieter. The cleaning person does an excellent job. Not a speck of dust in sight, which is impressive for a place that is probably not easy to clean. Also, do not get nervous if the check-in information is still not accessible even a few hours before arrival. The instructions for entering the apartment are only sent on the day of arrival, shortly before check-in time.

Secluded paradise with incredible sea view!

If you are looking for a quiet place by the sea to get away from it all and recharge your batteries, this is the ideal spot! It's truly magical to stay so close to the sea and wake up to the sunrise over the ocean. The house is remote but the size of the island allows you to explore the whole island from there. Away from it all...

Away from it all, this house is a perfect escape. With nothing but the ocean in front of you, it is the ultimate relaxation experience. The stars at night are breathtaking. The house itself is well designed, and has everything you need. The kitchen is very well equipped and is clearly designed with much love. The inside grill is perfect for the fresh local fish. The outside terrace is big and very comfortable, many happy hours there. The outside shower (there is also an inside one) with the view of the ocean is a touch of genius. Thank you to the owners for sharing this magical spot with us.

A place to unwind and view the stars

The house is located on the eastern edge of Sao Miguel. The view of the ocean, gorgeous coastline, and the stars at night are spectacular. It is a bit of a drive to get places, so pack sufficient food. The house is rustic and situated in the middle of lush vegetation, so expect some "natural" elements in the house. The outside deck is fabulous for lounging or eating on warm nights. The house has everything you need, including a washing machine. There are quite a few steps to climb to get to the parking area. The house is isolated and very quiet, a great place for truly unwinding.

Fantastic view, spartan conditions

The view is beyond incredible, however we struggled with lack of hot water (you have to wait for it for 5 minutes and then it would last for 3 minutes) so it was impossible to take hot shower and we had to heat water on the stove and in the kettle - old fashion way. It was a bit cold inside in April. The new addition to the original house (kitchen with the grill, sunroom with the huge ottaman)

You will never find this again, anywhere

The steps from the parking lot to the front door are a challenge, but I’m 70 and I did it. The reward is an experience you will never duplicate anywhere else. The waves crash against the shore 10 feet from your head as you lay in bed. Sounds trite, but you are truly one with nature. There is no one else around. Just you. Both daunting and glorious at the same time.

C’est un lieu exceptionnel, avec une vue à couper le souffle. L’accès demande d’être en bonne condition physique, de par les escaliers un peu abrupts, et par ailleurs, il manque un moyen de se mettre à l’ombre le matin, c’est dommage quand il fait très chaud et qu’on aimerait profiter de la terrasse. Mise à part ces deux points, je le recommande, car c’est vraiment un lieu singulier qui restera gravé !
