A fabulous place to stay
We were a group of 7 adults and 7 teenagers. We had 14 nights here and loved it. The property is effectively 2 semi detached houses, with access between the 2 via the top floor balcony and via the ground floor garden and pool area. There were plenty of sun beds, and the hot tub fitted 7 of us at a push. Hosts were attentive, and cleaning was punctual and thorough, every 3 days. Due to Covid they wanted us out of the house, so we were poolside once, and out on excursions at other times. We cooked on the bbq a few times, and they left us a large bag of coals which was thoughtful. You will need a car to go anywhere. Rethymnon is a long hike, along roads with only occasional foot paths. Not a pleasant walk. There are 3 great restaurants a 5 min walk away, and Yanis on the right hand side with a large outside courtyard eating area was fabulous. There is a large Lidl 10 min drive, on way to Rethymnon, which had everything we needed. A couple of minor issues...we found ourselves a little short of kitchen equipment - cutlery, knives for prepping food, glasses. Plastic pool cups would have been good, rather than taking glass poolside (we bought reusable coffee cups from Lidl). There are are 2 half size dishwashers, one in each kitchen, and full size ones would have been handy. And the pool cue was useless so we didn't play pool as much as we might have. But these are minor issues, and overall I would certainly recommend the villa. It's a good base between Iraklion to the East and Chania to the West. Rethymon old town is lovely with lots of restaurants and shops. The Venetian Harbour is beautiful. Thank you to the hosts for helping make it a memorable holiday.
