Can Cruanyes (Oak) is a unique holiday escape, immersed in the rich culture and stunning scenery of the Spanish Pyrenees, and perfectly situated between the mountains and the exquisite beaches of the Costa Brava.

From the ruins of the 400 year old farmhouse, three beautifully restored apartments have emerged, each retaining its own individual historic charm, while embracing some of the modern touches of interior design.

Secluded in twenty acres of peaceful woodland and paddocks, this Catalan farmhouse is a perfect destination for families, couples and friends. The large swimming pool, outdoor hot tub play area and games garden all have views up to the imposing peaks of the mountains or down to the valley beyond.
Roure is a private apartment with private terrace and access, however the grounds, gardens and pool are shared with 3 other smaller apartments.

Can Cruanyes resides within the foothills of the Pyrenees where you can enjoy beautiful rural and mountain surroundings while remaining well connected to local amenities and the beaches of the Costa Brava.

Please note if you are bringing a pet there is a separate charge of 8 euros per day per pet. There is a maximum of 2 pets. This is charged separately during your stay and you must advise us in advance that you are bringing pets.

Excellent time here

Donny was a wonderful host! He was knowledgeable on the area and friendly . He was very helpful . Even printed soccer tickets for us. We enjoyed meeting him and his family . The pool was an excellent addition . After a day in the heat we would enjoy a swim in the pool. So relaxing . Only thing was sometimes we would find ants in the kitchen while preparing food. We usually put our food up high and wiped the counter right after preparing and eating . Other than that a wonderful stay at Oak Can Cruanyes.

Beautiful setting

The owners are very welcoming and accomodating. The property and gardens are lovely and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. Good for walking and not far from several places of interest by transport. It is worth considering that the apartments are all in close proximity so you do get up close with your neighbours.

Beautiful property in tranquil setting

This is a wonderful spot to stay and relax but is still within reach of plenty of attractions - countryside, towns and the coast isn't too far away. From the moment we arrived Donny and his family made us feel very welcome and it was clear that they wanted us to enjoy our stay. It really did feel like we were sharing the facilities in their house. The property is well equipped and has a private space outside for eating and relaxing. The pool is a useful addition - particularly given the hot weather we experienced. There is also a large space with toys and playhouses and a barbecue area, so there is plenty of room for children to burn off any spare energy. There were a couple of things that needed attention while we were there but Donny was on hand to get them sorted. We certainly found it an advantage that the property remained a pleasant temperature even on the hottest days - old houses with thick walls have their advantages! It is a few years since the property was modernised - so don't expect everything to be brand new. Nevertheless we would be happy to recommend it. Thank you to Donny and the family.

Peaceful, relaxing and well equipped

We spent a great few days at Can Cruanyes and Donny was really helpful both before we arrived and once we were there. The apartment was perfect for our family, well equipped (even with fresh bread, wine and coffee!) and well maintained. The pool, trampoline and jacuzzi kept us all happy. Would definitely recommend and only suggestion is perhaps a fan for the bedrooms on hot nights.

Beautiful home in a serene atmosphere

We enjoyed staying in this charming farmhouse. It was perfect for our family retreat. I have two seven year old boys who LOVED exploring and swimming in the pool. The location is perfect for little day trips to explore the surrounding areas. Donny was a fantastic host and provided loads of information on the area. Well worth it!!!!

Un moment magique dans un endroit magique

Toute la famille a profité jusqu'au dernier moment de la beauté du lieu et de la gentillesse de ses hôtes, Donny et Shivon. Nous avions loué l'appartement Roure, le plus grand, pour 4 nuits. La maison est très bien équipée et les lits sont très confortables...nous y avons dormis comme des rois! De magnifiques balades d'une heure, découverte de piscines naturelles, petits torrents de montagne...les GR sont très faciles et tout est très bien indiqué. La région est magnique en fin de saison...Ilha, la chienne du voisin (spannish water dog, j'adore!) nous a accompagné dans chacune de nos expéditions, au grand plaisir des enfants! Je recommande 100%

UN FANTÁSTICO Y RELAJANTE FIN DE SEMANA

Estuvimos dos parejas este fin de semana en Can Cruaynes y la experiencia fue genial. Un apartamento rural, totalmente equipado y con chimenea para relajarnos junto al fuego. A destacar la amabilidad de Donny, que se portó muy bien con nosotros. El entorno es estupendo para desconectar de la ciudad, practicar algo de deporte o incluso, hacer una buena barbacoa. Sitio muy recomendable. Esperamos volver en otra ocasión. Thanks, Donny!

Entorno y trato perfectos

Hemos estados dos días en Can Cruanyes. El trato de Donny ha sido perfecto, mimando cada detalle de nuestra estancia. Estuvimos alojados en el apartamento Roure con un bebé de 3 meses (nos facilitaron una cuna). El alojamiento cuenta con todas las comodidades: cocina (menaje completo, aceite y vinagre,...), baños (amenities), sala de estar (TV, DVD's,...), internet, terraza privada ... La masía cuenta con una piscina muy limpia y cuidada donde relajarse, un jardín muy cuidado y amplio donde jugar, pasear y disfrutar de un entorno muy tranquilo. Lástima que no pasáramos más días para disfrutar de todos los espacios comunes. Un lugar perfecto para descansar y visitar Besalú, Olot, Santa Pau, Castellfollit de la Roca...

El pasado fin de semana estuve con mi pareja en Can Cruanyes. Es una casa rural de ensueño! En el apartamento no faltava de nada, y el lugar es ideal para desconectar de todo. Fabulous relaxing holiday apartment (Oak)

This apartment is even better than it looks online... Comfortable and spacious inside with a lovely large patio area outside. The pool is a great size for both kids and adults and the grounds and views are fab. Our kids couldn't believe their luck, going from pool to table tennis to BBQ and back again! Rock pool swimming nearby was a great hit and Bezalu is a beautiful little town for eating out in. Thanks to Donny, Siobhan and little Liam for a lovely, relaxing week.

Un apartamento bien equipado y un trato perfecto.

He pasado un fin de semana en pareja y con mi perro en el apartamento Cirerer. El apartamento está perfectamente equipado, y el dormitorio es muy cómodo. Lo mejor del apartamento en invierno es la estufa de leña, aunque fuera haga mal tiempo estás super a gusto en el interior si quieres descansar. El exterior es amplio y está muy bien cuidado. Tiene una piscina fantástica que espero poder disfrutar cuando haga mejor tiempo, pues desde luego es un sitio para volver. El trato es excelente, muy atentos y respetuosos. El entorno es muy tranquilo y silencioso. Una casa perfecta para descansar en pareja o en familia.

UN PARAISO

Esta casita tiene 3 alojamientos para todo tipo de grupos. Esta situada en un lugar idílico. Nosotros fuimos 2 noches a la pequeña "Cirerer" y nos sorprendió por lo limpia y bien equipada que estaba. Todas tienen chimenea y leña a disponer junto a la casa. El silencio es total y si vas con niños, tiene mucho terreno alrededor para jugar. Lo recomiendo porque soy incapaz de poner una sola objeción. Es un remanso de paz para escaparse y desconectar. Repetiremos sin duda. Además el dueño es muy amable y si necesitas ayuda para lo que sea, está alli siempre.

Un fantastico fin de semana.

Can Cruanyes es un lugar magnifico situado en el bosque a pocos kilometros de Besalú y en la maravillosa zona de la Garrotxa. La casa es muy bonita y acogedora, hay caleffación muy eficiente y además una bonita chimenea con leña disponible en abundancia. La cocina es muy bien equipada. Las mascotas son bienvenidas. Donny, el dueño, es muy simpatico y amable. En fín, seguramente volveremos pronto!

Special place

Can Cruanyes is a beautiful home located in picturesque place. We had there very good time! The owner is very kindly and helpful person and the apartaments are really well-equipped. We can recommend it for everybody - for people with children, for looking for peace and quiet and for active ones. Can Cruanyes is located very close to the most beautiful places in Catalonia - Besalu, Olot, Girona, Cadaques and even travel to Barcelona is no problem ( only 1,5 hour). Gorgeous Spot!

If you arrive in the rain and drive through drab towns en route (as we did), don't be put off... once you reach Can Cruanyes, the landscape becomes absolutely wonderful.... a true getaway. Here, up in the mountains, you'll find a different micro-climate even from nearby historic Besalu (which, by the way, definitely warrants a visit). The peaks have an almost bluish cast -- and when were were there in May, it was lush and full of wildflowers. Donny, the on-site manager (and owner's son), couldn't have been nicer. He's actually Irish -- and is easy going and very accommodating. Yes, we arrived mid-week and before peak season, but, all the same, he didn't have to offer us (just a couple) a three-bedroom apartment for the price of the one-bedroom (which happened to be unavailable). Extremely nice and entirely unexpected! It was a bit too early to plunge into the pool, which appeared sparkling clean, quite big... and again, in this glorious setting. Enjoy!

La intención era pasar un finde semana en familia, sin prisas, sin horarios y en un lugar tranquilo, éramos 7 adultos y un bebe, y nos sorprendió el lugar, la casa, el entorno., la casa preciosa muy equipada, limpia, la piscina, el entorno bien cuidado, sinceramente nos encanto, es un lugar perfecto en medio de la naturaleza, os lo recomiendo de verdad. el dueño muy amable y atento, es un bonito lugar para ir, gracias!

El comentario que puedo escribir de Can Cruanyes es muy positivo, alquilamos la casa de tres habitaciones, esta muy bien equipada y la estancia fue muy agradable, el tener la cocina comedor y salón con el llar de foc todo junto hace que sea muy acogedor, un 10 en todo.

Estuvimos el pasado mes de Diciembre un grupo de 6 amigos, con un bebe, y la verdad que la casa y el entorno transmite una gran tranquilidad. La casa es perfecta, con 3 habitaciones de matrimonio, un gran salón con chimenea y una buena mesa de cocina. Todo perfecto, sin duda repetiremos.

Spanish Splendour

Although the property is well sign-posted, a thought of "are we lost?" did cross our minds when our sat-nav first took us down this small winding stony driveway which also initiated our 2nd concern of whether the web-site photos were out of date or photo-shopped beyond recognition. With our very 1st sight of the villa we knew we had made the right accommodation selection. It was exactly as we had hoped for with it's tranquil setting and rustic look it was the Spain we had been wanting to experience. The 3 bedroom Gaudi is great in every sense of the word. The rooms are all clean and large and yet seem cosy at the same time. To be honest we did spend a lot of time sitting on our main terrace with the odd drink or 3 just gazing at the mountains listening to the sound of nothing letting time just wander by but there is plenty to do and all within close proximity. We never tired of the quick drive down to the nearby medieval town of Besalu for a meal, sight-seeing or just a wonder around. Even a lazy day trip to the south of France is in easy reach along with the Costa Brava and many other wonderful places of interest. My best suggestion would be to book the balloon ride from nearby Santa Pau. Rising into the sky with the breaking of dawn, floating across the Olot region with it's 30 extinct volcanoes, drifting down the valley over Castelfollit del la Rocca and the ancient town of Besalu with the French Pyrenees just there to be marvelled at the entire way, with views all the way out to the Bay of Roses on the Costa Brava while sipping on champagne, doesn't get much better than that. At the end of each day a relaxing dip in the villa's swimming pool is a welcome and enviting treat which should never be under-estimated for all those who are holidaying with children. The owners Donny & Siobhan are ever so friendly and polite and are all too willing to assist or help out in what-ever way they can which all helped give this holiday that real homely feel. The only negative was we wanted to stay longer.

Thanks for the review. Yes a day trip to France is possible. For those renting a car just make sure you get the correct insurance. The baloon ride supposedly rivals those in Tuscany so highly recommended for those who don't mind heights!

Accommodation was as advertised - clean and well maintained. The owner provided excellent customer service, being available in advance and being present on the site. The swimming pool was excellent and very clean. Surrounding area is very quiet and beautiful. We would certainly recommend this property to our friends and family.
