Viipuri – A Stunning Finnish Log House in the Heart of Nature

Viipuri is a beautifully renovated three-story Finnish log house, designed for comfort, relaxation, and unforgettable moments. Nestled in two acres of mature woodland on the edge of the New Forest, this luxurious retreat boasts breath-taking views over Ringwood Forest and is perfect for families, friends, or couples seeking a tranquil escape.

Note the property has steep stairs and some beds are in the loft space with restricted height, so not suitable for the elderly or toddlers. Please see the details on the pictures.

We were very happy with the cottage. Location was beautiful and it was like home to home. We had a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, which was handy as there were 13 of us. The house was lovely and comfortable.

Amazing house

A brilliant long weekend for 10 of us. The layout is amazing, lots of space inside and out. Timo was great and nothing was too much trouble.The house is perfectly placed for New Forest and coast.

We had a super summer bank holiday weekend at the lodge, it was a great for three families (11 people in total) to get together and have some fun at Moors Valley and even more relaxation in the hot tub!!!We walked both days to Moors Valley, via the back gate and forest, about 40 minutes, depending on how fast you walk, to the activity centre and Go Ape, and there was so much to do, we ran out of time over the weekend.The lodge itself was a great base, with all the amenities you would need and the hosts were very helpful, we could even get an Uber eats delivery when we ran out of Sausages for the BBQ!It provides super facilities and great location for an ‘outdoor’ weekend with family or friends.

Beautiful area, garden was marvellous for the children.The cottage is lovely, just be aware that 2 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom are up ladder style stairs and not suitable for anyone who is not good in confined spaces.The host was easy to get hold off and check in was very easy.Kitchen area was very well equipped with a second fridge/freezer on the floor below.The three shower rooms were great with really powerful showers.We were a party of 7 adults and 3 children and would recommend this cottage.

Easter Break

The Lodge is lovely, all the ground floor is brand new, showers are great. There were 10 if us and all fitted in perfectly. There are some steep stairs on 2 of the rooms but great for teens. You can walk straight out into the woods from the garden.It was super clean and communication with the owners were very responsive. We would definitely recommend and would definitely stay here again. Thank you Timo.

Another great stay

Back for the 4th time, works very well for our family as the boys can just cycle out of the garden into miles of car-free cycle tracks. Weather not brilliant but hot tub still got a lot of use!

Beautiful lodge

This property is amazing, a real home from home. Well equipped, clean and cozy. The hot tub in the woods is just beautiful. Luigi the site manager is friendly and helpful. Our children loved it here. We’ll definitely be back, thank you for a lovely weekend.

Lovely secluded lodge surrounded by gorgeous tall trees and beautiful forest walks. The hot tub was wonderful ,so relaxing. The lodge was also very well placed for the new forest and also the beach at Bournemouth. We will definitely come back.

Vipuri Lodge

We just wanted to say what a lovely setting and Lodge we stayed in 2 weeks ago. 3 teenagers were occupied which is not easy and myself and partner had a very relaxing week. Luigi was so helpful and a really nice man. The hot tub made it all just perfect, thank you definitely come again 😊

Relaxing mini break

The setting is beautiful, the lodge is surrounded by trees and a spacious garden. We (two adults, a toddler and a baby) stayed for four days and enjoyed staying at the lodge as much as exploring the local area. The hot tub was a great option and was used daily. The kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of towels provided. Timo met us on arrival and made himself available if needed, however we were left alone to explore and enjoy the peaceful setting which I really appreciated. It suited us very well and we would happily return in the future.

Holiday review from viipuri log cabin

Had an amazing time at the viipuri log cabin. Check in was at 4pm however got a message from Luigi saying we can come earlier as it was ready for us. Luigi was very nice and friendly and couldn’t of been more helpful. The log cabin it’s self was lovely, everything you needed in there and the internet was a good speed and easy to connect to. Also the hot tub was fantastic and Luigi cleaned it every morning. The snooker table was also brilliant. Log cabin was secluded and rite next to the forest walk which was very nice first thing in the morning. Close to local shops and a short drive to Bournemouth. Highly recommend and will be coming back next year. Thanks for a great time.

A perfect log cabin in lovely surroundings!

We were met by Luigi who runs all of the cabins on the site. He could not have done enough to make us more welcome. Everything was clean and tidy. Perfect setting for our little dog who could go out of the door and through a gate straight into the woods. All utensils, crockery and linens were available plus any cleaning products etc. Plenty of seating inside and out plus bbq and hot tub. The hot tub was a massive bonus at our property; totally private and secluded, looking out into the forest. I hope to be returning. Thank you Luigi! 😃

Superb Cabin in the Woods

Viipuri cabin was all we hoped for and more. Timo was very accommodating with check in so arriving a little early was not a problem. The traditional Finnish cabin was very warm & cosy & homely yet with very good modern appliances and an excellent shower with lashings of hot water. The kitchen was very well equipped. The tumble dryer was especially welcome as we made full use of the hot tub several times a day during our 3 night stay. Our 3 grandchildren were enchanted with staying right in the woods, surrounded by trees & watching for squirrels & birds. They didn't want to leave. Grandson number 1 particularly loved his 'nook' bedroom in the eaves. All the beds were comfortable & clean. We did loose internet connection on occasions but this was not important for us. We would love to return to enjoy more family time together in this special place.

The lodge was so lovely, lots of quirky parts like the snug rooms in the roof, my daughter was a big fan of this. A few run down bits but clean and comfortable. Would be nice to have a more comfortable seating in the lounge but overall a great weekend. Thank you

Amazing place

We had best day loved lodge plus all little extras put in place. We had an amazing day at moors Country Park vist to burley Brockenhurst and lovely meal in ringwood kids and dog loved it we will be back for summer amazing time wish we booked an extra night

Relaxing break

Good facilities and super hot tub. The grounds are lovely and you can access the forest directly from the cabin garden where you can walk for miles, either to places like the Moors Country Park or to Ringwood town if you don’t want to use the car. Timo, the manager, is very helpful. This was our second stay in one of the cabins which speaks for itself.

Hello, I’m Timo, your dedicated host during your stay at Viipuri, a holiday home steeped in history and charm. For over 45 years, we have been welcoming guests to this enchanting sanctuary, and I’m excited to share what makes it so special to our family.

Nestled on land originally purchased by my Great-Great Grandparents in 1904, Viipuri is surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of Ringwood Forest. They planted the stunning trees and vibrant Rhododendrons that grace our grounds today, and even laid a full grass tennis court where our main lawn now flourishes. This lawn has a rich history, having been ploughed for potatoes by the army during the War. Nearby, a World War II Army Pillbox stands as a poignant reminder of those times.

In the 1950s, the Forestry Commission planted majestic pine forests to the north, enveloping our property in a serene woodland atmosphere that beautifully complements the Finnish style of our log cabin. The story of Viipuri continues with my Grandfather Richard, who married my Finnish Grandmother, Helena, and in the 1980s brought a piece of Finland to Ringwood by importing a classic log house, aptly named Viipuri after my grandfather’s birthplace in Karelia.

In 2025, we completed a meticulous renovation, elevating the entire house to introduce a brand-new brick-built ground floor. Our goal was to blend contemporary luxury with the timeless charm of the original Finnish log design. Now, Viipuri spans three levels, featuring four patio doors that seamlessly connect you to the enchanting Ringwood Forest.

This home is not just a holiday retreat; it’s a cherished part of our family heritage. We invite you to join us as we celebrate the fifth decade of our service, creating unforgettable memories in a place that feels like home. The property is a beautiful forest retreat bordering Ringwood Forest, Forestry Commission Land which stretches all the way to Verwood and Moors Valley. Conveniently 200m to the north is the Castleman Trailway the old Railway Line now a cycle path and walking trail. Therefore our property is ideal for walks, dog walkers, and as a base to explore the New Forest and Dorset.
We are also conveniently situated close to the A31 / A338 junction giving fast access to the New Forest, Bournemouth beaches, and Poole Bay.
