The good and the bad
Maryann's place was as described, the studio had everything I needed and was clean.
The downside for me was the other guests staying in the upstairs flat. There were very noisy.
Each evening people kept coming and going and slamming both their front door and the main front door to the house.
I was booked for 3 nights but only stayed 2 because of the level of noise.
Loud greetings and farewell, heavy footstep up and down their flight of stairs and then having to put up with their loud socializing and dragging furniture.
On my first night, the noise went on until 00.15am, the following night until 1am then started again from 4am. At 6am it became unbearable with more people arriving.
When I left the flat that morning there appeared to be a kind of wedding ceremony just outside the main door with a photographer and at least 30 guests.
As I witnessed that, I decided I could not tolerate another 24 hours of their disruptions and left.
Later on that day I was told by Maryann that she had sent someone to check on them and they apparently promised that it wouldn’t happen again.
I found it shocking that these people have not only broken two of the house rules, ignored the host messages, did not lower the noise when asked to do so and yet they were allowed to remain on the grounds that they said it would never happen again.
I was the one who had to vacate, lose a night there and find somewhere else to stay and all at my own cost. This is unacceptable.
