Mixed feelings. Because of my amazing family, we had a good time. If all went well, we'd make it an annual visit at the Pyramid House. Well-turns out, we won't. First of all-the large house handled 30 of us with enough parking, in/outdoor seating, a large kitchen, 2 cooking areas, plus the location and Clear Lake itself -fantastic! Not surprisingly, there were some minor issues: exposed nails, dirty curtains, no screens, patio door didn't latch, coffee pot didn't work, filthy grill utensils left outside, bathroom lock didn't work. Also- worse issues: bed with no slats so mattress unstable, basement door did not lock, lots of spiders, and mouse droppings. The maintenance was poor: AC not working, furnace filters wrong size/filthy. These things can be fixed with proper maintenance. The biggest problem : we had difficulty with Joe (Jody) -the owner (same person?). Poor communication. He was "tired"/driving/family issue when I'd ask a ?, did not respond. Online info is not accurate. Bed layout- etc did not match the description online . AC was not working. Joe told me the AC was fixed, but it was not even connected. It took 1.5 days and multiple calls / texts to get AC fixed. Joe told me I could cancel the VRBO reservation due to dissatisfaction, get a refund, and rent the home next door, privately from him in cash/VENMO. In this way, he said he wouldn't have to pay VRBO his contracted $. He said he was trying to "help" and wanted no bad review. It didn't feel helpful.
