Lydia's River Cottage - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

Lydia's River Cottage is open plan downstairs, fully central heated with a remote control living flame gas stove to provide a nice cosy focal point on cooler days. There is a 40 inch Smart Super HDTV and a DAB radio.

The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, oven with ceramic hob above and a microwave oven.

The rear door leads onto a large elevated riverside patio directly above the river Greta, which is private and has spectacular river views.Relaxed outdoor dining can be combined with wildlife viewing (binoculars supplied). Ducks, goldeneye, mergansers, herons, white throated dippers and grey wagtails are common and the rarer sightings include kingfishers and otters.

Upstairs there are two pretty bedrooms - a double bedroom to the rear of the property which overlooks the river and a twin bedded room to the front with views towards Walla Crag.

The modern shower room washbasin and toilet are upstairs, as the cottage has no bath the owners installed a large shower with choice of monsoon or normal showering.

Parking for the cottage is private, off road and large enough for two cars.

WiFi is complementary and unlimited approx 16Mbps.

Great place good location

Gorgeous place lots of space inside and out and lovely and cool in this weather. Easy to access spacious rooms, comfy bed only thing is we did have to move the bed to put our travel cot in there and some dust bunnies under bed but not the end of the world would 100% stay again

Nice Cottage

Clean, well equipped, reasonably comfortable, pleasantly situated by the River Greta and an easy walk into Keswick town centre. The busy main road towards Penrith that runs past the cottage is a little noisy but that’s not the fault of the cottage, just something to be aware of. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Very comfortable stay

The cottage was very well equipped and one well behaved dog manageable. Too small for 4adults but for 4 nights it was ok. Beds were lovely and comfortable.

Keswick delight

A fantastic cottage in the perfect location. Providing easy access to the Threlkeld railway walk, 0.5 miles out of town. Ideal parking space on the front with a lovely pub opposite. Would highly recommend.

Amazing place to stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I am always hesitant to stay away from home due to cleanliness but the cottage was so lovely and clean. It had everything that we needed and was a short and lovely walk into the centre. The patio backs right onto the river which was such a lovely surprise. We stayed a couple of weeks before Christmas and the price was amazing.

Hi, John! Lydia's River Cottage is a lovely property, away from the business of town, but close to everything to you need. The cottage is open-plan downstairs, fully central-heated with a remote-controlled living-flame gas stove to provide a cosy focal point on cold days (and we do have lots of them!). Cute cottage. Nice to be next to the river and appreciated the designated parking spot. Would have liked a few more amenities like shower gel in the bathroom and paper towels and cooking oil in the kitchen.

Glorious riverside cottage

Lydia’s cottage is a delight, it definitely has the wow factor. Everything about it is a delight, it’s so well equipped and comfortable. It was very pleasant to go to sleep every night with the sound of the river, and a very comfy bed. A big plus for me was the bus stops outside, I travelled by train so I used the very good bus service to get around. I also appreciated the Fair Share scheme so I could donate food etc that I couldn’t take with me. I highly recommend this cottage and would definitely book again. It also helped that I had beautiful weather so the patio overlooking the river was well used!

Lydia's River Cottage

Lydia's River Cottage is comfortable, clean with an excellent shower and comfortable bed. It is a short walk in to Keswick with parking for two cars. Despite being situated on the Penrith Road, it is set back and extremely quiet. Another lovely feature is the river running behind the cottage. My one bugbear and this applies to all holiday rentals. Why so few teaspoons (5) and mugs when you want the client to use the dishwasher.

Lydia’s cottage

Would stay again the owners could put up a small trellis up on the left outside wall to have stopped our dogs going to visit the other cottages next to Lydia’s,lucky that no one was staying in the cottage next door,also a lot of people don’t like dogs,nice decor,lovely warm and comfortable,shower very large and plenty of hot water,we think the double bed needs to be in the front bedroom and the twin beds in the back,so close to the town,we had a very comfortable and a sunny week thankyou in Lydia’s cottage and we would recommend to family and friends as also parking for 2 cars what more could you ask for

Fabulous weekend break

Fabulous weekend break in a spotless, cosy and modern cottage. Would definitely recommend staying here. Only a short walk into Keswick and there is a shop just opposite for any essentials. The sound of the river outside is so peaceful. Go ahead and book it!

Beautiful location

We had a fantastic time at Lydia’s cottage. Although on a main road no noise could be heard from passing vehicles. The back of the property backs onto the river and the views and the sound of the river were heavenly. Lots of bird action & binoculars provided in the property gave us a close up view. The property itself has been beautifully renovated and on arrival spotlessly clean. Beds and bedding really comfortable and lovely bathroom with an excellent rainfall shower. The owners of the cottage, Michael & Daphne, were very prompt and helpful regarding help with heating controls (our only request) The cottage location is perfectly placed for access quick to the Threlkeld railway trail and dozens of other walks from easy to hard. A 10 minute walk will take you into town with access to lots of dog friendly pubs, cafes and restaurants. Thank you Michael & Daphne for a great stay

Perfect 2 bedroom cottage

Lydia's River Cottage provided an excellent base in Keswick as it is easy to reach from the A66, quiet, cosy, very clean, well appointed and located by the Greta River. It has the convenience of off-road parking, and is an easy 15 minute walk into Keswick town centre, though there is a decent pub literally over the road from the cottage. I would happily return to Lydia's River Cottage and probably will.

Great location

Great location for walking in to Keswick town. Very comfortable and homely cottage. Although weather didn’t allow the outdoor patio area was lovely over looking the river. Smart tv was great so too the wood burner effect gas fire. Parking on the cottage’s driveway very convenient.

There is a pub across road serving food which is handy for those nights when you just don't fancy cooking. A perfect stay

We love the location of the cottage. Being on the river is so picturesque and perfect for morning coffees outside. The cottage is really comfortable and spotless. It had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Keswick is a lovely town with lots of beautiful walks nearby. Recommend Casa Bella and Bar Es for delicious meals.

A Happy Return.

Having been to Lydia's Cottage before we knew what to expect - a really comfortable holiday home, with high quality kitchen and bathroom fittings and a wonderful setting. The nearby Spar store and garage, plus the proximity to the town make it an ideal location for us.

Had a lovely week stay in Cottage . Very cosy and a perfect location . The only thing that was missing which would have been useful was a bench at the front of house .

Comfy, cosy cottage in a great location.

Lovely cosy cottage. Very clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our much needed short break. Super comfy bed and slept so well - was glad of the rainy weather the first few mornings so we could enjoy a guilt free lie in and enjoy it for longer! Great location for walking into town and for the many walks in the area. The car was definitely not needed. Enjoyed cosy evenings in front of the fire with Netflix and the lights of the Christmas tree. Perfect place to recharge my batteries after a tough few months. We will be back.
