Isabel Cottage - a cottage that sleeps 2 guests in 1 bedroom

Isabel's Cottage is a traditional, luxury Lakeland cottage situated within a minute's walk to shops, bars, restaurants, and cafes, close to Fitz Park and an easy walk to Derwentwater.

This is an ideal cottage for two: cosy, central, quiet, well-finished, and with an attention to detail.

The lounge has everything you could need or want, including a leather sofa and a log-burning stove. The Smart TV means you can log into your own streaming service to watch a movie and relax after a day of adventures.

The modern kitchen has a breakfast bar, under-counter fridge with ice box, integrated microwave, oven, induction hob, dishwasher, washer-dryer, and a Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machine.

The bedroom has a superking bed (That can be split to twin beds on request - £15 charge applies), wall-mounted Smart TV, and an impressive en-suite walk in shower room. The bed will be made up with luxury, crisp-white linen and towels for your arrival.

To the front of the cottage is a small outside space with a bench on which to relax and pass an hour or two.

There is parking for one car available, however you should note that entry to the car park is down a narrow alley, so this is best suited to a small-to-medium car. There is plenty of unrestricted on-street parking close by.

A parking permit may be available for the local long stay car park (2min walk away) @ £30 for a week £20 for a short break.

Keswick offers plenty of activities and amenities for your stay. Whether you're looking for adventure activities, retail therapy, or new and exciting things to do, there's something to keep everyone entertained.

Need to stock up on groceries for your self-catering Keswick holiday? Booths and Co-Op are Keswick's two main supermarkets, with produce also available on the Keswick Markets.

If you're looking to venture out into the Lake District without a car, Keswick is serviced by the X4 and X5 bus services, running all the way from Workington to Penrith, linking Keswick to local train stations

Great Location

Perfect for two people staying in Keswick. Has everything that you need and is perfectly located for the park, bars and restaurants and shops and for local walks to Derwent Water, Latrigg and Walla Crag. Stayed here four times now and we love it and will be back!

Lovely little place

Very pleased with the accommodation but couple of things that I think you ought to warn folks about - very steep and narrow stairs - my wife has recently had spinal surgery and she had to be very careful going up and down the stairs. The very narrow entrance to the courtyard and car park caused me a real problem on exit - a very kind lady in one of the adjacent cottages helped steer me out; she said she did that regularly.

Isabel cottage

We loved the cottage we have rebooked it. The only complaint was the sofa it was too small and not very comfortable.

Hi, Moira! Thank you for your feedback, and we’re really pleased to hear how much you enjoyed your stay at Isabel — it’s lovely to know you’ve already rebooked. We just wanted to gently clarify your comment about the sofa. The sofa in the cottage is an electric reclining model, and once reclined it offers a much more comfortable seating experience. This is mentioned in the guest guide provided before arrival and within the property, but we completely understand it’s something that can be easy to miss if you’re not expecting it. We’re confident you’ll find it much more comfortable on your next visit now that you’re aware of how it works. We’re very much looking forward to welcoming you back again soon and hope your next stay is even more enjoyable. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Staying in Keswick

Wonderful little cottage for two people in the heart of a Keswick. Had everything you would wish for in facilities. The only criticism is no curtains in the bedroom!! This meant it was light from 4.00 a.m.!!!! I would definitely have some black out curtains fitted.

Hi there! Thank you so much for your lovely review. We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay and found the cottage such a wonderful spot for two in the heart of Keswick, with everything you needed for a comfortable visit. Thank you also for your feedback regarding the bedroom. We appreciate how important a good night’s sleep is, especially during the lighter early mornings at this time of year. Your suggestion for blackout curtains is a very helpful one, and we’ll be sure to pass this on to the owner for consideration. We’re really pleased you had an enjoyable stay overall and would love to welcome you back again in the future. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Another great stay at Isobel

This is our third holiday at Isobel and once again proved to be a superb cottage for our stay. Central location and great base for many walks with our dog, didn’t move the car all week. A few minor issues that were quickly resolved. Access road to the cottage is too narrow for our SUV so parked in Otley Road car park. Another great holiday and we will certainly be back next year.

Hi there! Thank you so much for your lovely review and for choosing to return to Isabel for a third stay — it really means a lot to us. We’re delighted to hear it continues to be such a superb cottage for your holidays and that the central location worked perfectly for you, especially being able to leave the car and enjoy so many walks with your dog straight from the door. We’re also pleased to hear that the minor issues you encountered were resolved quickly by our team — that’s always our aim. Thank you as well for mentioning the access road; as you found, larger vehicles can sometimes find it a bit tight, so it’s helpful to highlight the nearby car park option as an alternative, subject to availability. It’s wonderful to hear you had another great holiday, and we very much look forward to welcoming you back again next year. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Great little house

Perfect little house in a great location. Even though there isn’t really designated parking unless you have a tiny car there is always somewhere nearby to park. Will definitely stay here again. The receptionist at Keswick Cottages was delightful and couldn’t help enough.

Hi there, Thank you so much for your lovely review — it really made us smile! We’re delighted you enjoyed the house and its brilliant location. Great to hear that parking was easy enough too; even without a dedicated space suitable to large vehicles, there’s usually somewhere close by, and we’re glad you found that convenient. We're always willing to help with parking where we can. Your kind words about our team were especially appreciated. It was Caysie, our Marketing Rep, that helped you, and we're all always very happy to help! One of the benefits of booking independent and local... We’d be absolutely delighted to welcome you back again on your next trip to Keswick! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

The modernised interior of this comfortable cottage makes it an ideal holiday base for 2 in Keswick

Well presented cottage in the centre of Keswick, ideal for getting to the lakeside, town centre shops and Booths supermarket. Nice big spacious comfortable bed and a lovely walk in shower in the bathroom. All the equipment you would need in the kitchen although the washing machine was extremely noisy and the instructions for the dryer were torn out of the handbook and missing. An ideal holiday retreat for a couple looking to enjoy what Keswick has to offer and the walking routes in the surrounding area. Offstreet parking outside the cottage is available but due to the narrow entry lane if you have an SUV or wide car it is advisable to ask for a parking permit for the nearby long stay car parks which we used instead and which they arranged for us. A bigger chest of drawers in the bedroom and a shelf or unit in the bathroom both for which there is plenty of room for would be a benefit.

Keswick Cottages provided a truly memorable stay with a perfect balance of comfort and charm. The property was exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully equipped with everything needed for a relaxing getaway. Its location was ideal peaceful and surrounded by stunning natural scenery, yet still conveniently close to local shops. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, making it easy to settle in and feel at home right away. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I would highly recommend Keswick Cottages to anyone.

Amazing cottage in the centre of Keswick, finished to a very high standard. The bed was really comfy, just what was needed after exploring the surrounding area. The bathroom was very roomy and the shower (both waterfall and rainfall settings) was fabulous. Millie the cockapoo especially enjoyed her welcome gift, a lovely personal touch.

We loved Isabel cottage. We visit Keswick several times a year so normally look out for a more economical stay but it was worth spending a bit more for the luxury. The team at Keswick Cottages were very helpful and super efficient with sending the info re booking.

Excellent experience last year so decided to spend another week at the same cottage. The location is prime as are the transport links if you don’t fancy driving. Excellent walks nearby and fabulous places to eat. Would recommend Chinty’s for breakfast/ brunch followed by a walk to Castle Head for an amazing view.

Hi, Jon! Thank you for your feedback following your stay at Isabel. We’re sorry to hear you experienced difficulty with the parking and that this resulted in damage to your car. For clarity, the allocated parking space and access are clearly described in our property details, including notes about the approach. There is plenty of space to park and manoeuvre in the courtyard, but the short alley to access the courtyard requires slow and careful driving; naturally, as you cross a footpath to access it. This is visible via Google Maps, for any future guests reading. We always advise guests to contact us if they are unsure or uncomfortable using the allocated space, as alternative parking can be offered where available, and there are unrestricted on‑street parking options nearby. Most guests manage with zero issues. Unfortunately, as we weren’t contacted at the time, we weren’t given the opportunity to assist or suggest alternatives that may have avoided this situation. We also note that you awarded a four‑star rating overall, which would typically indicate that there were positive aspects to your stay. We would have loved hearing about these too, as balanced feedback is helpful both for us and for future guests considering the property. Thank you again for your comments. Our team is always happy to help on arrival with parking or access concerns when guests get in touch. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Lovely stay in a great spot

Very nice cottage in an ideal location in Keswick. You do need to be a confident driver with a small-to-medium sized car to use the parking space and not feel somewhat stressed but we found it fine. The cottage is well equipped with modern fittings and was very comfortable. Very easy access to good restaurants and pubs.

This is a lovely/cosy cottage in a great central location. Getting to the car parking space is quite tight down a narrow lane but achievable We had an issue with the kettle leaking, but this was resolved immediately after a quick phone call to Keswick cottages.

Our 2nd visit to Isobel Cottage

A super comfortable one bedroom cottage in an excellent location in the centre of Keswick. Dog friendly and the glorious Fitz Park is just down the road. The narrow access road/alley made parking difficult so we opted for a pass in the local public parking. Very convenient for the shops, local walks and the bus station. This is our second time at Isobel Cottage and I am sure we will return,

Lovely stay in Isabel Cottage

Isabel Cottage is in a great location, worth paying the additional fee for a parking permit as parking outside the cottage could be very difficult. The cottage was very clean, modern and comfortable. Could benefit from additional larger drawer storage in the bedroom. But other than that perfect.

Thank you for your 5* review. Isabel Cottage has been recently refurbished so we are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the modern and comfortable interior. Manoeuvring into the designated parking area for the first time can be daunting, the old buildings and narrow roads of Keswick town are unfortunately not all totally adaptable to our modern needs, so the car parking pass can be a good alternative for those with larger cars! Thank you for feedback regarding the drawers, we will pass on your comments to the owner. We hope to host you again for your next Lakeland holiday. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Amazing holiday cottage

Perfect location for what we wanted. The cottage was very comfortable with a decent spec. We wanted to ark up and just explore the Keswick surroundings. Two small gripes: the alleyway leading in the courtyard was horrendous, we got in ok but really struggled to get back out. I'd advise to park elsewhere. Also the cooker wasn't easy to work. However once we realised it was still in showroom mode, it wasn't too bad. The staff came out to help, very promptly but we sorted ourselves.

A week to remember

My first, very enjoyable visit to Keswick. The cottage was spotlessly clean, comfortable and with everything I needed for my week’s stay. The great shower was really appreciated after a long day in the hills. I had a problem with the washing machine, (my fault), and someone came round from Keswick Cottages immediately to help. I took note of the parking description and yes, the narrow alley entrance was a challenge but manageable. The cottage is in a perfect location and once parked the car stayed there for a week. I walked out every day or used the excellent and very cheap bus service. I would definitely make a return visit. .
