Laundry area with patio windows, including a second refrigerator and pantry for groceries, washer and dryer, clotheslines, cleaning supplies, vacuum cleaner, electric iron and ironing board.

Bright home-office area with window and access door to the balcony. It has a work desk, office chair, table lamp and flat-screen TV. The covered balcony over the patio has night lighting and outdoor furniture.


Surroundings

Íris House is located in the city of Ponta Delgada, in the parish of São Pedro, in a safe residential area, just 9 minutes from the airport.

Within a 3 minute walk you'll find public transport, grocery shops, supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies and restaurants serving the excellent local cuisine. The Casino Azores, the Clube Naval and the city's promenade for pleasant walks or bike rides by the sea are just 5 minutes away.

A few minutes up the road you'll find a pineapple plantation where the fruit is traditionally grown in greenhouses and where you can taste an excellent product in its natural form or in juice, liqueur and jam.

We're also just a few minutes walk from Portas do Mar, a tourist centre with exhibition and conference facilities, a free public natural swimming pool, a marina, shops selling handicrafts and other convenience products, a cruise port, restaurants and various companies offering nautical and land-based activities. A little further on is the town centre where you will find local shops, the main public services, libraries, churches, museums and the farmers' market. Also nearby is the University of the Azores and the Ermida da Mãe de Deus (Chapel of Our Lady), which offers an excellent view of the city from the top of the hill of the same name. In summer, the nightlife is permanent, with musical shows, exhibitions and open-air performances in many of the streets.


On the island

Throughout the island there are many activities and sights not to be missed.

The nearest beaches are less than 2 miles away.

There are several options for nautical activities, 2 golf courses, the oldest tea plantation in Europe, trails for walking, horse riding, horse-drawn carriages, cycling, all-terrain vehicles and paragliding. You'll also find natural lagoons, mountains and fantastic views over the summits of ancient dormant volcanoes, as well as the impressive thermal activity in the Furnas Valley. The parks and gardens are well maintained and the many museums around the island are a reminder of the rich Azorean culture.
