My fiancé and I along with another couple stayed for about a week to celebrate our engagement and my graduation from nursing school! The cabin was so peaceful with a cozy welcoming atmosphere. The owners were very friendly and helpful and had the cabin stocked with all the things needed for our stay!

We traveled and stayed several places within the states…this cabin and the beautiful property surrounding it was one of the nicest and most relaxing we have experienced. It was what I needed after battling cancer, having multiple knee surgeries, just to get away and take a mental break refresher. My husband loved the fishing and cannot wait to go back again soon. Thank you to the owners and to VRBO making everything perfect.
It also was our 50th year anniversary!

Such a quaint and cozy cabin with a beautiful view of the lake! Very well stocked with lots of extras! My 20 year old daughter loved the record player- she had never seen one! Such a special touch!

Perfect getaway from everyday life..A guys fishing retreat, before getting back over the road as truck drivers and my son before he started his fall classes at Texas State. Everything listed in the description was spot on.. Would absolutely recommend to family and friends!!

Super cozy cabin with a spectacular view of the lake. The house is comfortable, clean, supplied well with necessities and feels like home. The history of the property adds to the uniqueness. Quiet neighborhood with friendly folks. Saw eagles flying by the point every evening, had an opossum visit the grill one night, and Canadian geese on the point several days! FullMoon rising over the lake was a plus!! Great place to relax, unwind, listen to the waves from the screened in fishing dock and recoup from life’s craziness! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be booking again! Highly recommend!

Excellent location very nice house and yard. The deck on the back of the house has great views and nice and shady place to relax. The boat ramp being on site was fantastic we very much enjoyed our stay the house is very nice and well kept.

Beautiful view and precious cabin

We stayed four nights. The house is comfortable with a nice air conditioner.The outside deck has plenty of seating and a charcoal grill.The fishing dock and screened in seating was a plus! We launched our boat a couple of times a day easily. You do have to take the boat out of the water every time so he prepared for that. There are games to play and a nice yard for kids to explore. Bring extra garbage bags, paper towels toilet tissue if you are expecting to need more. There’s limited groceries nearby but we figured it out no problem. Overall we would stay again at Crappie House. It was peaceful and private. Such a fun time for a family!

Nice and Quiet Place

Very nice place, loved the history of the place, dating back to the 70’s when it was built. Great place to launch if you are interested in doing any fishing. Beautiful view to wake up to as well.

Quiet getaway

The place was clean, right on the water with a dock house out on the water which was fun to fish from. Perfect for a little getaway where we got much needed R&R. The master bed was a little uncomfortable, but the size was good for the two of us. Didn’t get to hike the National Forest because they were closed, so be sure to note this if it was on your agenda. All in all a great trip.

Just what the doctor ordered!

Wonderful place to stay and visit with the kids and grand-babies in my last week recovering from medical leave. The morning sunrises were breathtaking with abundant birdsong. Capable internet. We were welcomed by a migrating flock of pelicans. Property was cozy, and will be going back soon!

Hello. We want to introduce ourselves and tell you about this place. We are Bryan and Jamie, We have been married 32 years and have always dreamed of a beautiful lake front home, which we have found in the Crappie House. We bought this lovely location from Carol and Tom Dec 2024, who were sad to leave, but we reassured them we would love this place like they did.

This is a historic property, one of the first built at Toledo Bend Reservoir. The retaining wall was built in 1968. The property was owned by the Gibson’s Discount Center, who were the first store similar to Walmart, before they took over the US, hence Gibson Point. Bryan, my husband has been fishing on Toledo Bend for 45 years with his family. This lake is teaming with great fish and abundant wildlife. It’s a great lake to fish, get awesome pictures, and relax. We are happy to share this place with you and hope you find it as wonderful as we do.

Crappie House offers a unique opportunity to stay in a mid-century modern cabin and to live the good life as you lounge on the balcony or dine over the water in the screened dock house. And of course, there is the world-class fishing, not to mention the large outdoor area, perfect for creating memories with your family or friends and taking family pictures.

この宿泊施設の特徴

Few properties offer the acreage, accessibility to the lake, and the amenities that Crappie House has to offer, including a semi-private boat launch, fire pit and screened dock house with sitting and dining areas. Located just north of the Pendleton Bridge, Crappie House is situated at nearly the midpoint of the lake, allowing access to both the north and south ends, close to the Louisiana border. Guests may fish off the dock house balcony or along the seawall (be aware of large boulders along the sea wall and of the slippery seawall). For swimming, there is a smooth sandbar in the cove perfect for floating and kids' swimming -- go out from the launch to the white pole. It is usually 2-4 feet deep.
